Is it just me or do you catch a glimpse of the Deku tree's jaw moving? Is that who's asking if Link remembers him? Pretty huge implications if so.

I'm a bit concerned that the tree sounds younger and a bit more suave in English. Stupid sexy Deku tree.

Beautiful.

I love the character design so much for this, I wish in-game models were able to retain more of that painterly style. The Zora's design is absolutely stunning, especially with all the jewellery.

For the first time Zelda is waifu material. I approve. Trailer was incredible and it fucking sucks that there's literally nothing else for the Switch I want.

Game looks good, and the inclusion of voice acting opens the door to much more involving storytelling. It's nice to see Nintendo edging out of their comfort zone in that respect.

If this was called the Legend of Belda no one would care, amirite.

People would care, but let's not pretend that the Zelda legacy doesn't play a huge part in the hype for each new game.

I've learned to take gafs comments on English voice acting on Japanese games with a grain of salt after the exaggerated backlash against the p5 English dub

I was a little surprised to see so many people hating on Zelda's english VO. I guess a lot of folks prefer the wildly-overacted anime stylings of the Japanese version in this case.

i never do this, but i think if there's the option, i might go with subs. sort of maintains that mystical flavor of me not understanding the language versus just plain ol english.

Same. Because I just always imagined that they would speak a different language other then english.

Weird. I know.

Beautiful piece. Solid cover art as well.

A ton of weeaboos in here. The english voice acting was perfectly fine!

Nah, that shit was definitely dry. You can practically hear them reading it off the page.

What I need now are comparisons between the wiiU/switch version.

Nothing else on the switch interests me up until mario, which I dont believe will make the 2017 release.

Is it just me or do you catch a glimpse of the Deku tree's jaw moving? Is that who's asking if Link remembers him? Pretty huge implications if so.

Yeah it was the Deku Tree. So probably this is actually the age where Gannon comes and fucks everything because there was no hero. With Zelda trying to be the hero, hence her blue clothes similar to Link ones.

The trailer looked amazing and sold me the game like any other game Nintendo did before, to be honest.

Likely will get the WiiU version. The switch version doesn't seem to be that much of a difference, graphics or otherwise that it justifies paying for a new console right away. I'm not the guy who likes to buy consoles day or even year one anyway.

That said, the first part of the trailer was alright but the second part was damn good. Goosebumps everywhere.

Not sure about voiced characters, it could go so wrong... but nonetheless, BotW's trailer game has been impeccable from start to finish. Open your eyes, indeed. And that music is soooo good, as always.

Complete aside: laughing bird guy is awesome.

It's out so soon... can't wait.

I generally watch subs (99% of the time) and I think the English voices sound fine. Honestly, I'm more curious who the actors and actresses are.

I'm the exact opposite. I usually have no problem watching dubs but I think the difference in quality here is really noticeable. The old lady at the start sounds like a young woman pinching her nose and doing a stereotypical old woman's voice in the English version. English Zelda sounds pretty bad too. I hope we get the option of playing with subs.

Um, if these aren't bullshots the IQ looks way better than expected. Holy shit.

Yeah, at first glance looks like native 1080p but with a much better post-processing AA solution than the Wii U version. Textures also look better, though I can't tell if that's due to increased resolution or increased AF (or both).

Guys, if you look closely the humanoid Link fights appears to be some Shiekah warrior, they're wearing the Mask of Truth.

Jesus it actually feels like Nintendo has read my mind on this one.

Yeah, the dropoff is just massive. From fan theories like that to her portrayal in this trailer damsel in distress style (and that save her line). This Zelda seems awful

All we can hope for is that she rises well above how she's portrayed in the trailers

Jesus everything is a battle with you people. Nevermind that nearly every game since OoT has ended with Zelda right there with you beating the shit out of Ganon or whatever the villain of the day is. If Zelda isn't kicking Ganon's head off while Link cowers in the corner covering his balls you'll declare the game a failure.

D1P because who gives a shit.

What a fantastic trailer. Watched it with my earphones in on the train to work, my reactions must have made me look crazy. It was just so good.

Then I watched it again. God.

I hated the reveal of this game so much, I really did.

Now it looks like game of the year material. Wish they'd revealed it like this last E3 to save me the ulcers.

Utterly phenomenal trailer.

Meh, it was a cool trailer for a Nintendo game but this trailer I feel epitomizes the issue with Zelda- its one step away from becoming a legitimate, dare I say meaningful example of games as art, but Nintendo always holds back- like this trailer shows great potential, but the art-style of the game combined with the inevitable E10+ rating just goes to show how Nintendo is still targeting a "kiddy" audience as opposed to the core gamer.

Imagine if this game had an aesthetic that's like a cross between Witcher and Dark Souls, with a story in which Zelda is NOT a damsel in distress, one that embraces the darker aspects of Zelda lore rather than burying it- with a darker and mature tone, this franchise could truly become something else, like the videogame equivalent of Lord of the Rings or heck, without even needing to go crazy, becoming the videogame equivalent of the Avatar cartoons.

I just feel like Nintendo devalues the artistic and emotional aspects of their games, they still seem to think of videogames as toys as opposed to an artistic medium.

I'm sorry, but this is laughable. Your definition of "art" seems to only be dark and mature. It's all dark dark dark. And LOTR had an incredibly simple story. Zelda games have always had the same tone of complexity as the Avatar series.

If a female character ever needs saving she's immediately useless and trash

Yeah, I think the voice is fine, she's just not even close to the type of Zelda I was hoping for from her portrayal in the trailer and I'm not crazy about her in-game design.

It could still be after Wind Waker since there are Koroks and you go around the Great Sea trying to repairing the withered trees to unite all the islands together in that game.

That could have easily taken place by the time this game starts.

i never do this, but i think if there's the option, i might go with subs. sort of maintains that mystical flavor of me not understanding the language versus just plain ol english.

Same. I was never a fan of the idea of giving proper voice acting, even if it's done very well (which going by Zelda, it's not).

I have no doubts the game will have Zelda fight alongside link at the end. Seems like she'll start out broken and depressed and progressively get better. Makes for a very interesting Zelda, I'll see how well they write her.

I can see the complaints though. But I don't expect much from Japan.

Yeah, the voice at the beginning was a bit unfortunate, it really did sound like a younger woman trying to do an older woman's voice. I did like that Zelda was a bit more understated in English, but I'm not really sure what to make of her yet.

Eh, not really. I think Nintendo choosing to just show Zelda in distress in ths trailer is worth criticism, since that's the scenes they've chosen to advertise the game. They've done some good steps with Zelda's role over the years - Hyrule Warrior's Zelda might have been the best in that regard, bizarrely - so I'll remain optimistic, but the scene choices are a bit of a headscratch. I feel awful for the poor kid, though, it looks like she's having a rough time. I'm curious to see how it all fits together, and I hope they'll do some interesting things with her character.

Not a fan of the cover art. Yet another cover where there is guy just standing there.

It's the Framing of the Shot. It's someone standing with lines towards the destination, calling back to the artwork for the original game. Much more interesting visually than Bloodborne or Witcher 3's box art.

This trailer was magnificent. I'm almost bummed it had to be the ending to such a lame conference.

Give me some time to separate the two in my head so I can rewatch this and really soak it in. So stoked for this game. Surreal to think it's coming so soon...
