North American Nintendo Switch Lineup

Why would anyone believe what Iwata promised, to be honest?

There's a reason "Please understand" is a meme.

This kind of argumentation "I expect nothing thus I'm happy" doesn't make the post launch line-up less poor for most of the people.

Especially since this come after they completely abandoned Wii U after E3 2015. If they are unable to support their consoles then maybe they shouldn't launch consoles anymore.

I see people complaining about the launch, but it just doesn't make sense to me...

Well, I guess if you don't give a shit about Zelda -- or have a Wii-U.

Just thinking about it, I wouldn't want to compete against Zelda at launch, it just doesn't sound like a good idea. Especially given how fucking good it looks, and how hyped everybody is? Yeah, no thanks.

I think it makes more sense to sprinkle the games shortly after Zelda.

I mean, I'm spending $300 and another $60 for Zelda, actually $130 for that collectors edition.. I have no interest in spending any more money when I know I'm going to be glued to this game for a while.

Am I crazy? :<

At minimum, it needed an online game a la mario kart or smash at launch. No in my house is hyped to play 1 2 switch or arms. I wanted Zelda and assumed we'd be seeing some ports.

I think one of the main problems is that there's a lot of stuff already announced that has yet to be dated outside of the launch day, even more specifically. I feel we'll get a better idea before the launch of the system on when specific games are released.

This list is seriously horrid. Overall the first party line up for 2017 is good and I'll be getting it this holiday when Mario Odyssey comes out... but for launch yikes

No, the launch lineup is complete shit.

I'm just saying I had no false hopes it would be better than their last couple. We've gone through the song and dance far too often.

WiiU 2 with this launch lineup. Feel like they need to really react to the massively negative sentiment online right now with a more reasonable price, bundles, or something along those lines.
Wii-U launched with garbage like "New" Super Mario Bros U and its special bundle was with Zombi-U.

Switch is launching with one of the most anticipated games of 2017.

Hardly Wii U 2 launch.

Could be worse, the best game on PS4 for a full year was a port of Assassin's Creed Black Flag.

Where are people coming up with Nintendo spreading their software throughout the year? All we got was a few dates, Mario Kart 8 on April and then launch windows for the next games, which are way fewer than anyone would've thought.

And I really wanted to buy this at launch. But the price and the lineup outside of Zelda just put me off. I'll definitely be looking at this around the holiday though

Yeah there is no structure to the software unveiling. Its weird. Like putting out the launch lineup in a PR is basic stuff.

Zelda is great but 3rd parties are severely lacking.

Well you can easily see why it was delayed to March then. Imagine what it would have looked like if it released back in October or something!

So is this thing not the 3DS successor then? It was strange not seeing them mention anything like Monster Hunter Stories, which is absolutely begging for a Switch port.

I feel like there are a lot of 3DS games which would benefit hugely from switch ports and would also fill out the lineup throughout the year.

Zelda and 6-9 months worth of dust for me.

Basically how I feel, which is why I can't justify buying the thing. I know I'm going to beat zelda and then never touch it again until Mario arrives and then I have no idea how long I'll be waiting for their next good exclusive to come around.

I just don't get Nintendo.

Make a fucking Splatoon remaster for launch and then push the sequel out for the holidays, it's seriously not hard to figure that shit our. They could have easily padded the launch lineup with Wii U ports.

So I per-ordered with the hope that something moves up or there are surprises in the coming weeks. If this is all that's in the launch window, I'm canceling.

ummm
ultra street fighter 2 the final challengers?

is capcom adding new characters to street fighter 2???

i can't find any threads or discussion about this

I was so disappointed the Splatoon remaster rumor wasn't true. Would have been easy money. The only thing I can think of is some of the touch screen functionality would have had to be retooled for docked mode(ink strikes) which might have caused issues.

That's what alot of people thought they were going to do. Even the ports aren't launch tho. The few they announced

Wii U software became barren so long ago, what were Nintendo studios working on? They have everything riding on Zelda right now.

I'm not preordering one, but will probably pick one up whenever the first random time I see it in a store is. Mario is the system seller for me. Otherwise, I would probably just have gotten the Wii u version of Zelda and called it a day. Hopefully they have some good E3 game announcements for late '17 and early '18 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯????

Yeah, what I expected was Pokken, Smash, Mario Kart and Splatoon with some new content near launch.

Which I would have been fine with honestly.

We didn't even get that besides MK.

Does this kind of confirm that the switch is more of a Wii U sequel more than a 3DS sequel or 3DS and Wii U sequel combined?

Because the lack of software seems pretty bad for all of Nintendos 3DS and Wii U studios working in concert towards Switch.

I didn't expect smash Because I expect a new one is in the works(I haven't read rumors so maybe I'm out the loop)

I did expect pokken,Mario kart 8, Splatoon, bayonneta 2(wishful) and XCX.

There's a thread about this, it was being discussed last night / early morning. On mobile right now so can't provide link.

It's another Street Fighter II game. Adds Evil Ryu and Violent Ken into the roster. Art style is HD Remix with an option to set it to the original pixel versions. Unlike HD Remix, when you set it to pixel mode the stage will ALSO be the original pixel one.

I don't remember if the gameplay is based on the balances made in HD Remix, or if the game is closer to the original Super Turbo. From the discussion in last night's thread, it seemed to be the former.

Minecraft and Minecraft Story Mode.

Looks like Nintendo is learning after all.

Jesus, that's pretty bad. As in worse than Wii U launch bad. BOTW looks GOTY worthy to be sure but all of the other launch titles? Nah.

I'll keep my system pre order but this is going to get a Zelda machine for a while I guess.

Given that I have a Wii U, this makes the Switch pretty unappealing to start, since I can already get BotW. Really, not much compelling to look forward to until Super Mario Odyssey. They really needed to get that as a launch title. I thought I'd be a day 1 Switch buyer, but reconsidering.

I don't own MK8 but I'll buy the Switch version. I just want the system and it's expensive so I'm somewhat content with the launch. I will just buy Zelda and Mario kart when it's out. KInd of glad Splatoon is summer and Mario on fall tbh.

Your snarky reply has failed.

I get lunch breaks. What I'm I doing on my lunch breaks? Eating LUNCH.

Okay? I eat lunch then socialize with co-workers or whip out my DS. Sometimes we'll set up consoles on a TV, and use it when we're just taking breaks.

Switch is kind of perfect for that.

People here seem to want to buy 5 exclusive/AAA titles at launch, because the Switch is the only system they will have and there is absolutely nothing else to play on existing systems coming that same month.

People just like to complain for the sake of it. The issue will be if the games don't keep coming after launch and there is no third party support.

Launch line up is just fine.

You can't just assume that every Nintendo fan is a Zelda fan.

Wow. That's terrible.

I'll wait until Mario and when the switch is $249 this fall.

They are basically selling you portable Zelda botw for $359.99.
