I got to say this will be the first Nintendo console I don't get. Launch lineup is crap and the price. No way. Guess I'm playing Zelda BotW on WiiU.
Ill get ZeldaOn WiiU
Like what? Ryse? Knack? Yearly sports games?I feel like you might be the one forgetting. There were solid games at launch and impressive ones.

People were memeing PS4 HAS NO GAMES for months. Saying they had good launch games is revisionist bullshit.
Yeah, the PS4 wasn't even a blip on my radar until inFamous came out, and it really didn't become my primary console that I played regularly until that Fall. If anything, the PS4 and XBO were two of the easiest consoles to justify waiting several months for.Like what? Ryse? Knack? Yearly sports games?

Those games are probably done, but being held to keep a steady stream of games coming.Hmmmmm, if they had delayed the console by two months we would have had Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as launch games as well.
I'm not sure what people would have preferred. Get the console earlier with Zelda? Or later with these two extra games.
Fair or not, Nintendo's launch lineup (and announced "TBD" games) needs to compete with Sony / MS's EXISTING lineup...
No, it doesn't, and never has a console been held to this ludicrous a standard. A new console won't magically get 100 titles because an Internet forum thinks their software lineup should be equal. I got a PS4 at launch and I went back to my 360 because most of the games I was looking forward to got punted to the next year. I'm sorry if some people's backlog is nonexistent, but for most that won't be an issue.

This launch year for the Switch looks pretty decent between Zelda, Splatoon 2 and Mario. But something tells me next year is going to be completely barren

What Iwata promised. Streamlined development. One platform (not necessarily one device) no droughts. Isn't that difficult to understand.

This thread is the push I needed to buy my $1700 gaming laptop.
Switch can wait. I'll get one eventually.
Reminds me of the n64 days. Abysmal. Hopefully Nintendo is on point with their first party games because this is looking grim.
And quite honestly, their first party line up does compare. The reality is this generation of consoles have weak first party games. Sony sold millions of PS4's because of games like Destiny, CoD, and Battlefront and the Switch isn't going to get those games most likely. The Switch's future lies with Nintendo's first party games. They will need Pokemon, Monster Hunter, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, and Smash to sell the system. Mario and Zelda is there to get the hardcore Nintendo fans at launch, but their other IPs need to bring the 3DS owners over and the casuals back. Honestly, I hope they saved a few things for E3 or a future Direct to compete with Sony and MS in the holiday season. I fully expect a Pokemon announcement sometime this year because it is needed. Not sure why people are comparing the Switch launch lineup to the PS4 / X1's launch lineups. Those consoles exist and are established and are selling well because they are powerful and have a great selection of 1st and 3rd party games.

Holy shit the pure failure of this post. LolYes let's remember AC Unity. What a great launch title.

If it wasn't for Zelda they would have to delay this system. Without that game the launch lineup is near Ouya level, if not worse.
Please, Sony has supported the PS3 until the end and they release games for the PS4
What did Nintendo release on the Wii U the last 2 years ? Almost nothing
They had several years for games development, this line up is sad and pitiful
And between each games, there will be a desert because there is not multiplat games
And this is just one thing which is shabby with the Switch
I am not going to talk about the 32Go storage, the ethernet port's absence, the paid online, etc...
Who exactly does that entice to go out and get a Nintendo Switch, though? That's it. No AAA or even AA PS4/Xbone games from last year

I'm not sure what people were expecting from this. This was never going to be a system for third-party games, most certainly not PS4/XBO ports.
This is way better the the switch lineupI consider the Switch as a portable console that you can plug on your TV. So it's main role is being a portable console. Therefore, I would compare it more to the PS Vita. In that case here was the launch line up for the Vita:
Release:
Escape Plan (PSN Only)
Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational
Hustle Kings (PSN Only)
Little Deviants
ModNation Racers: Road Trip
Super Stardust Delta (PSN only)
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
WipEout 2048
Army Corps of Hell
Asphalt Injection
Ben 10: Galactic Racing
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II Extend
Dungeon Hunter Alliance
Dynasty Warriors Next
F1 2011
FIFA Soccer
Lumines Electronic Symphony
Michael Jackson: The Experience
Plants vs. Zombies (PSN Only)
Rayman Origins
Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen
Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack (PSN Only)
Touch My Katamari
Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3
Virtua Tennis 4: World Tour Edition
Launch window:
Gravity Rush
MLB 12 The Show
Reality Fighters
Unit 13
LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7
Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention
Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus
Ridge Racer
Silent Hill Book of Memories
Supremacy MMA: Unrestricted
I'll let you draw your own conclusions.
Can't think of a major platform that hasn't had a better one tbhThis is way better the the switch lineup
Reminder that switch isn't competing with PS4 and xbone launch lineups
They're competing with their entire library right now in 2017
I see the appeal of that, but I just have trouble picturing a ton of people rushing out on day one for ports of older games they've likely already played, just to be able to take them on the go. I just don't see that as being the thing that gets their foot in the door.A portable Skyrim, Overwatch, Diablo 3, GTA, etc would certainly entice people to look at the system.
Skyrim should have been there at launch for sure.
It is a 300 dollar console competing not only against home consoles with way more titles but also against the 3ds, vita, phone/tablet market. All priced the same or cheaperThey're not directly competing with them considering the Switch offers a very different kind of experience than the PS4/Xbone and aims at a slightly different public.
