North American Nintendo Switch Lineup

I got to say this will be the first Nintendo console I don't get. Launch lineup is crap and the price. No way. Guess I'm playing Zelda BotW on WiiU.

Like what? Ryse? Knack? Yearly sports games?

People were memeing PS4 HAS NO GAMES for months. Saying they had good launch games is revisionist bullshit.

Assassins creed, Resogun, Battlefield, fifa to name a few..No gmes was always a joke meme , didn;t mean anything. X1 had forza. These are BIG franchises whether you like them or not. There were also indies releasing weekly,

I'm happier with this lineup than I was for both the 3DS and the Wii U.

3DS I only bought on a whim (had the money, thought the 3D effect was cool), and I only got a Wii U as a present after it had been out for a year or two (it didn't have a single game i wanted for over a year I think).

Getting Zelda day one, it'll probably have at least a few VC games at launch (hopefully I can get a discount if I own them already), and there's stuff coming throughout the year that I want too (LEGO City, Mario, Yooka Laylee).

For 3DS, Pilot Wings wasn't a very long game, and there was a long time between launch and OoT3D and then Mario 3D Land. Star Fox 3D was a pretty average port (played that game way too much on the N64 already, so I only played it once) and Mario Kart 7 didn't interest me because it lacked the mission mode from MKDS.

The Wii U just didn't interest me because the concept was pretty weak (not portable enough to be a portable, and nothing used the controller particularly well). And none of the games were enough to convince me to get it for myself. Eventually it got a solid library, but even then I probably could have skipped it without missing much.

Switch is at least an actual portable system which I love, the controllers seem to have some interesting tech in them and I'm excited to see some Gamecube VC games come to it, and Skyrim is an old port that I can actually see myself enjoying (way more than Arkham City or ME3) .
I can see this getting a lot of the indie support like the Vita got so it'll be my goto indie machine.

I dunno. I'm kinda glad that there's a game on launch day that I know will keep me busy for weeks, if not months.

I mean, I guess that sucks if you don't like Zelda, but personally speaking I'd take the Switch launch day over anything else that's launched since the Wii. *shrugs*

Yeah, the PS4 wasn't even a blip on my radar until inFamous came out, and it really didn't become my primary console that I played regularly until that Fall. If anything, the PS4 and XBO were two of the easiest consoles to justify waiting several months for.

Not sure why people are comparing the Switch launch lineup to the PS4 / X1's launch lineups. Those consoles exist and are established and are selling well because they are powerful and have a great selection of 1st and 3rd party games.

Fair or not, Nintendo's launch lineup (and announced "TBD" games) needs to compete with Sony / MS's EXISTING lineup...

This launch year for the Switch looks pretty decent between Zelda, Splatoon 2 and Mario. But something tells me next year is going to be completely barren

Is it bad to want to buy in so that when the inevitable price drop happens we could get exclusives like the ambassador program? A lot of people are seeing this as the WII U 2 but I think it might be more like the 3ds 2.

Looking at this makes me so sad. I have put the Switch into my cart multiple times but I just cannot justify pulling the trigger until maybe Splatoon 2 at the earliest. I really wanna buy the damn thing but the games (for me) just straight up aren't there at all.

I'll, of course, get Zelda, but I'm still not convinced it will run better on the Switch (if not worse) and my Wii U is still working great.

That ps4 has no games was bullshit stated by fanboys. You've lost your mind if you took that serious. You're comparing Zelda to everything else available on those consoles at the time. Third-party games are important. How you guys keep trying to downplay them is beyond me.

Hmmmmm, if they had delayed the console by two months we would have had Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as launch games as well.

I'm not sure what people would have preferred. Get the console earlier with Zelda? Or later with these two extra games.

Those games are probably done, but being held to keep a steady stream of games coming.

No, it doesn't, and never has a console been held to this ludicrous a standard. A new console won't magically get 100 titles because an Internet forum thinks their software lineup should be equal. I got a PS4 at launch and I went back to my 360 because most of the games I was looking forward to got punted to the next year. I'm sorry if some people's backlog is nonexistent, but for most that won't be an issue.

Ps4 and x1 lineup aside, it's still a poor showing.

It's releasing in the middle of a generation (HD twins). I'm not saying I'M comparing it to those two, but the gaming public will, no?

Why? They can launch Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, a new 2D mario, western release of Xenoblade 2 and so on.

Even when PS4 and Xbone launched they had relatively modern third party ports that the older systems had.

The Switch is literally launching with Zelda and shovelware. That's it. No AAA or even AA PS4/Xbone games from last year, no WiiU ports (besides Zelda), nothing.

I've got a Switch pre-ordered but seriously, this launch lineup is indefensible.

What Iwata promised. Streamlined development. One platform (not necessarily one device) no droughts. Isn't that difficult to understand.

I do understand you, I disagree with you because I don't think they have announced all the games that are coming. This is just for the launch window and there's some very good stuff there. It's certainly not something to get this angry about lol.

It's not a "ludicrous" standard to expect something more than Zelda (yeah I'm getting on hardware I already own), when Nintendo themselves admitted they held off on the Switch announcement and launch precisely to combat a launch drought.

Stop kidding yourself, this is a terrible launch by any metric. The only game worth playing will be available on older hardware.

People were saying that because they're idiots/want to join the thing everyone's doing. The PS4/Xbone lineups were solid at launch and the PS4 got shit tons of games after, with as many as 3 times the titles available on Xbone, if I recall correctly. Both of those launches embarrass this shit Nintendo thinks is competitive.

Ok, here's my question: Is the Switch backwards compatible with Wii U games purchased digitally?

I'm hoping I can at least pad my library with the Wii U games I missed out on....

Reminds me of the n64 days. Abysmal. Hopefully Nintendo is on point with their first party games because this is looking grim.

The PS4 had CoD, AC, BF, Injustice, Lego Marvel, NFS and every major sports game at launch.

The only people complaining about no games were those on Internet forums.

Without Zelda this would be horrific, looks like the same story as the Wii U for now. Nintendo still held back in technology, if this was competitive they would have announced Resident Evil 7, Nioh, For Honor, Mass Effect, Ghost Recon etc etc. Probably end up as another great second console to own.

And quite honestly, their first party line up does compare. The reality is this generation of consoles have weak first party games. Sony sold millions of PS4's because of games like Destiny, CoD, and Battlefront and the Switch isn't going to get those games most likely. The Switch's future lies with Nintendo's first party games. They will need Pokemon, Monster Hunter, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, and Smash to sell the system. Mario and Zelda is there to get the hardcore Nintendo fans at launch, but their other IPs need to bring the 3DS owners over and the casuals back. Honestly, I hope they saved a few things for E3 or a future Direct to compete with Sony and MS in the holiday season. I fully expect a Pokemon announcement sometime this year because it is needed.

Yes let's remember AC Unity. What a great launch title.

Holy shit the pure failure of this post. Lol

If it wasn't for Zelda they would have to delay this system. Without that game the launch lineup is near Ouya level, if not worse.

Without Zelda it's slightly worse than Ouya.

Ouya had Towerfall at launch.

If it wasn't for Splatoon and the looming pay to play online deadline I would hold off on getting a Switch.

It’s a pretty weak fucking lineup. Definitely getting Zelda and Bomberman day one.

I’ll probably also get:

Mario Kart
Sonic Mania
Splatton 2
Super Mario Odyssey
Project Sonic 2017

Please, Sony has supported the PS3 until the end and they release games for the PS4
What did Nintendo release on the Wii U the last 2 years ? Almost nothing

They had several years for games development, this line up is sad and pitiful
And between each games, there will be a desert because there is not multiplat games

And this is just one thing which is shabby with the Switch
I am not going to talk about the 32Go storage, the ethernet port's absence, the paid online, etc...

Not only that but by themselves their launch lineups look alot better than the Switch's.

The Last of Us launched on PS3 and a PS3 GTA V bundle were available the same year the PS4 launched. And thats just 2013, not even looking at 2012.

Clearly not a good comparison.

And gotta agree with those saying the Wii U launch lineup looked better than this.

Any signs of the European lineup?

I am Setsuna will be retail or just digital?

Do we know if Bomberman R will have an online mode?

That's it. No AAA or even AA PS4/Xbone games from last year
Who exactly does that entice to go out and get a Nintendo Switch, though?

I'm not sure what people were expecting from this. This was never going to be a system for third-party games, most certainly not PS4/XBO ports.

It's undoubtedly a bad launch day lineup, especially if you don't like Zelda or are just going to get it on Wii U. Splatoon not being at launch is a bit of a surprise, but other than that, this is pretty much what I expected the system to release with.

Skyrim should have been there at launch for sure.

I consider the Switch as a portable console that you can plug on your TV. So it's main role is being a portable console. Therefore, I would compare it more to the PS Vita. In that case here was the launch line up for the Vita:

Release:
Escape Plan (PSN Only)
Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational
Hustle Kings (PSN Only)
Little Deviants
ModNation Racers: Road Trip
Super Stardust Delta (PSN only)
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
WipEout 2048
Army Corps of Hell
Asphalt Injection
Ben 10: Galactic Racing
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II Extend
Dungeon Hunter Alliance
Dynasty Warriors Next
F1 2011
FIFA Soccer
Lumines Electronic Symphony
Michael Jackson: The Experience
Plants vs. Zombies (PSN Only)
Rayman Origins
Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen
Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack (PSN Only)
Touch My Katamari
Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3
Virtua Tennis 4: World Tour Edition

Launch window:

Gravity Rush
MLB 12 The Show
Reality Fighters
Unit 13
LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7
Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention
Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus
Ridge Racer
Silent Hill Book of Memories
Supremacy MMA: Unrestricted

I'll let you draw your own conclusions.

This is way better the the switch lineup

Reminder that switch isn't competing with PS4 and xbone launch lineups

They're competing with their entire library right now in 2017

They're not directly competing with them considering the Switch offers a very different kind of experience than the PS4/Xbone and aims at a slightly different public.

A portable Skyrim, Overwatch, Diablo 3, GTA, etc would certainly entice people to look at the system.

Skyrim should have been there at launch for sure.
I see the appeal of that, but I just have trouble picturing a ton of people rushing out on day one for ports of older games they've likely already played, just to be able to take them on the go. I just don't see that as being the thing that gets their foot in the door.

It is a 300 dollar console competing not only against home consoles with way more titles but also against the 3ds, vita, phone/tablet market. All priced the same or cheaper
