I personally liked XCX more than XC. Also seems like a waste to toss the entire setup of that game out the window for this. Nothing here is so amazeballs that it seems worth it just to dump X. Strange direction this took tbh.
TBH there was not really much to toss :S most of the game consisted of Tatsu jokes. It was extremely underveloped until the end,im glad they are starting fresher

XenobladeChronicles X was fantasic, peopel who call it shitty are insane.
It is fine if you think the original is better, but some hyperbolic comments are just...

100% agreed. The Xenoblade fanbase seems to quickly want join Zelda and Final Fantasy as one of the most obnoxious game fanbases out there unfortunately.

Xenoblade X was ok,but really off putting if you were expecting a Xenoblade 1 sequel or were a fan of the tone of that game.

Soundtrack took a 360. Story was half eating Tatsu. More about the sidequest than the main game. Very little cutscenes, etc. Seemed like they wanted a more western audience for that game.

It's Tales. End of story.

Same colors as the sword?

Digging the art style here. I'll be real I wasn't a fan of the first game or X for the most part but I think this could win me over if they combine the battle system improvements from X with the structure of the original.

So this is what Takahashi has resigned to(or is forced to by Nintendo, idk). It's quite sad, Shulk was already sort of generic anime protagonist but wasn't too bad, this just looks even worse. Im sure the gameplay and whatnot will be great but I'm feeling skeptical about the story content of this based on the cast. Hope it's deceptive and a clever ruse that will lead to an interesting deconstruction of whatever generic tropes this seems to have but that's wishful thinking.

This looks amazing to me. Looks more like a real sequel to Xenoblade. I'm kinda doubting the 2017 release date, but I can live with that.

The heck...didn't XCX just release last year? Seems like awfully quick turnaround on a new game. I wonder what, if anything, is being re-used.

Monolith Soft is a two studio company and XCX came out in Japan over a year and a half ago. It's probably building off the work they did with XCXs engine so the turnaround isn't surprising.

I'll just say it was very very much not the game I wanted.

X2 looks much closer to what i wanted

I am very excited

The new game is not X2 btw. But I'm also excited as I love both XB and XBX for different reasons.

I just didn't think it was very good in pretty much any way except the expansiveness of the world. Nothing more to it and than that.

That's fine. Opinions and all, we differ and that's cool. Calling it garbage or anything similar though, and I believe that person becomes less credible for me lol.

I enjoyed both the original Xenoblade and X. They were different, and X did have its flaws, but I would buy a game built in either mold.

I'm still hoping for Skells (or some equivalent) to appear in Xenoblade 2, though. They wouldn't be out of place if 2 is set in the same world as the original, since Xenoblade's Mechon were already pretty close in capability.

Was xenoblade x worse than xenosaga 2?

Depends. Xenosaga II has terrible combat, but I liked everything else. Xenoblade Chronicles X has a lot of problems. I personally rank XCX the weakest of the Xeno's mainly because of the grindy nature of the game and the terrible story presentation, but I could see a case being made for XS2 if you disliked the story.

What trailer did you watch? I have no idea how you could come to these kinds of conclusions based on the few seconds of character interaction that we saw.

I doubt this, but since we've only seen two potential party members for the main character in the game (the two women)...maybe this will go with three? Of course it'd be without precedent for Xeno but I could see it working.

Of course that's not likely, but as long as it's not a Xenoblade Chronicles X situation with so many non-characters with no ties to the story surrounding you then I'll be satisfied. Elma, Lin, and yourself would have been a better party than the maze of NPC's we could ask to join.

The original Xenoblade had the perfect situation. Good number of party members that all mattered for the (deep) story, no irrelevant NPC's as party members. That's what I expect in Xenoblade Chronicle 2.

Felt this deserved to be giffed Look at that open field. And is the grass full 3D this time? That's amazing.

Not to mention this seems to imply you are on the freaking back of whatever the heck that insanely massive head is.

This gif will sustain me. We've got a decent wait ahead of us, I think. I expect a delay from this year to make it perfect, or at least for localisation. Monolith Soft only finished Xenoblade Chronicles X in early 2015 after all, less than 2 years ago.

It's an extrapolation based on the character design of the main character. It's easy to predict what comes with that territory. This shift has been happening for years now anyway, it's just regrettable, doesn't mean it will automatically be bad, it could be a decent story still but certainly more safe and derivative.

"When I was younger, my sole aim was to express myself. If I enjoyed it, and could give the players a product that reflected my own taste, it was enough if it appealed to those players who understood what I was doing. I was compelled by the belief that this was where the appeal lay in an RPG.
[...] When you're young, you're brimming with creative energy after all, and it is a path everyone goes through. Among young game creators today, there is no shortage of people with the same approach I had, making games solely for those players who will understand what you are trying to achieve. I think that this sort of game is necessary in the video game industry.

But now, when I ask myself if I still have that drive, which was in a sense rash and reckless, the answer is of course that I don't. At the same time, I now have a better view of the overall shape of things, and I feel that my creative range has increased. Recently, especially since becoming a father of two, I've been thinking more and more about how to make a game that will be enjoyed by a large number of players and that will strike a chord with them."

I didn't mind the faces in X, but they're great here.

better than this shitty game

Xenoblade Chronicles X was a great game, overall, but yeah I wasn't into that kind of costume option for that kind of character.

Just do what I did and put it on Elma instead.

Now I can go from saying that it's crazy how much better XCX's world visuals are than BotW's to how much better Xenoblade 2's are.

But seriously both of these games put the graphics in Zelda to shame, other than the quite important matter of character design where Zelda really shines.

I'm hyped. Hopefully this game combines the best aspects of Xenoblade and Xenoblade X. Granted I was expecting either another spiritual successor or a Xenoblade X sequel, so a sequel to the first Xenoblade surprised me a bit. I'm also expecting the game to get delayed to 2018, but that would still a much faster turnaround than Xenoblade X.

It also seems like the main theme is composed by Mitsuda. In the part of the trailer with the music sheets, the top says "MO1: Elysium of the blue sky," "Xenoblade II - Main Theme Part 2," "Composed by Yasunori Mitsuda." It can be seen 37 seconds into the trailer.

Monolith Soft only has one team working on Xenoblade games, which is the Tokyo studio. The Kyoto studio is mainly an asset studio that assists other Nintendo teams. The faster turnaround for Xenoblade 2 is likely due to it using the same engine as Xenoblade X.

To be fair, comparing Xenoblade 2 to a Wii U game is just not fair. Monolith has better resources to work with on Switch.

For Xenoblade Chronicles X vs BOTW, you have a point. However, part of the difference in Zelda having better character appearance isn't just the raw designs, but actual poly counts and level of detail. The Zelda team will put more of a system's resources into that than Monolith, who had to compromise due to their enormous, detailed world. They did the same thing on Wii.

So part of it is about what you're going to prioritise.

If they manage to release this in 2017 then wow... That probably mean they started work on this one even before XCX was out. There is still hope for a continuation of Mira story then !

Still, this is fuckign awesome, tough I hope the main character get killed of as the big twist because I don't know they can make him interesting otherwise

I just hope they let you use a different armor for visuals and stats. I'm replaying Xenoblade right now and it's so obnoxious that the best armor I have right now is the diver set.

If I read the highest line correctly, it seems to be the fantastic piece that plays at the end of the trailer. Judging by the name of the main theme, the sky will be an important element in this game's story.

Personally I liked the designs of XCX's characters

http://imgur.com/GcmzFOA

It was how those designs translated to 3D that bothered me(XC has been this issue too albeit less noticeable). So while XC2 is far and away the best in terms of adapting the art to 3D I still feel like it has more of generic anime look compared to its predecessors at least from what I've seen so far.

Agreed. Tanaka's work properly done in 3D would be great, but since the 3D artists at Monolith don't seem to get it right... for now I'll take the animu aesthetic and patiently wait and hope that they get better.

Not a fan of the artist, but I'll remain optimistic. Hopefully its not too cringey (Xenoblade Chronicles).

What...what was cringeworthy in Xenoblade Chronicles?

Did you not like the accents? I for one hope they're back.

The character design looks like absolute garbage to me, but as long as everything else is quality then I'm there Day 1 (whenever that is).

This is one of the 3 titles that had me screaming with excitement. Not in love with the art style, as it's not as unique as past Xeno games but I think it meshes better than XCX did. Regardless, this is a day one buy for me. Was not expecting this at all so this blew me expectations out of the water.

Same. I'll be 23 or 24 when this game comes out in 2018, I don't want to be seen playing as a goddamn 10 year old or whatever in public. Like what the hell is wrong with them? Why would would they do that anyway? Who enjoys playing as kids in their games? No one, that's who. smh

Edit: Main character isn't too bad actually, but the rest I don't like.
If you care about people judging you in public about what kind of video game characters are on your screen, perhaps your maturity level isn't on par with your age.
