Do you prefer the English or Japanese dub of the new Zelda BOTW trailer?

Saw a good amount of people going back and forth between the Japanese and English dub versions of the Zelda BOTW trailer. On one hand some say the Japanese voices are overacted while on the other some say the English voices are dull.

Since I'm sure some people will us the trailer to decide which version to purchase, I'm curious which of the dubs people preferred atm. Which did you like better?

Japanese. I don't always like the anime-esque voice acting (I thought the English dub of FF15 was awful) but the English VA for Zelda seemed really dull. I liked the Japanese reads a lot better.

It was great in every language i heard it, but the best one might be the japanese version.

Loved the italian VA, although i don't get why they have to say "Irùle" instead of Hyrule

Tacci sua

The Japanese version had much more emotion in my opinion.

Oh, and the European Spanish version is terrible. They even changed the dialogues for no good reason.

English Zelda sounded almost as bad as Yuna, so Japanese. I thought the Japanese cry was really dramatic and further served to blow my mind during the end of that trailer.

English. Looks like the Japanese VA is going for anime style VA from what I've seen the trailer (the exaggerated cry,) while the English VA is going for more traditional.

english voice is alright but english zelda crying didn't sound right, not enough emotions when she was crying while the japanese voice you could feel the emotions

Japanese dub brought feels and Zelda's crying reminded me of Homura's screaming when
she pulled the trigger on Madoka
. I'll watch the English dub later.

Yeah no, Japanese Zelda nailed that scene over English.

Japanese dub is way better than the English dub. The narrator sounds better and zelda actually sounds like she has a character goes through hard time. English zelda was a bit dull sounding. Have zero expectations of any additional dub except the local region dub.

Zelda breaking down into tears was expressed much better with the Japanese dub, the English version of Zelda seemed to just kinda sob while Japanese Zelda wailed her eyes out. Though that was just the one scene, I'm curious to hear some more dialogue from Zelda.

I like them both so far, but I'm leaning a bit more towards the Japanese dub. I hope it has dual-lanuages, though I kinda doubt it will.

Much prefer the British voice of Zelda. The Japanese screaming sounded way too hysterical and melodramatic. The British voice of Zelda executed that part with subtlety and I could actually hear the emotion in her voice, whereas the Japanese voice is literally just an over the top scream and sounds really silly.

English is fine and most people prefer Japanese even though they don't even understand it. I could be bad Japanese VO and they will eat it up.

I liked the Japanese more in the trailer but i assume that was Zelda speaking in the e3 demo and if so the dub was fine. I doubt NoA will give multiple language options so I'd be ok with the dub.

I prefer to go with English dubs with games but I liked the Japanese VAs a lot more than the English ones, especially Zelda. English Zelda sounds so emotionless and dull.

I find Japanese VA is way to dramatic all the time. There are some English issues but I can let it fly. Plus I don't want to have to look at subtitles, I want to look at the game.

English VO for the lady that was narrating. Japanese for everything else except the crying. Way too overdone. English version of that was not the best it could be should've had a bit more emotion, but still prefer that to the overdramatic JP version.. And I'm used to watching anime in Japanese.

I doubt we'll get the option to play as either anyways, but I'd play English just to not miss out on anything if there's ambient voice acting here and there.

I thought the Spanish dubbing was the best, but both the English and Japanese were fine. Maybe the Japanese Zelda overacted a little bit, but that's really the style of voice work there I think.

I like the English actress more, but I liked the Japanese cry more
I still didn't think it was ideal, a bit too over the top, but in English, she doesn't feel nearly as despaired.

I think the English Zelda's voice sounds too mature for the way she looks. Doesn't matter to me but I'd go with Japanese audio/eng subs if I could I guess.

My brother last night literally was telling me he saw the Japanese version of the trailer first, and that Zelda's voice was so much better in the Japanese dub than the English one, when he saw the English one he was disappointed. Was saying the Japanese one was much better at expressing emotion while the English one sounded a lot flatter in comparison.

Funny timing for the topic for me because of that.

The point is moot anyways, I doubt the japanese copy of the game has english text, and I doubt there's dual audio.

I think the English Zelda's voice sounds too mature for the way she looks. Doesn't matter to me but I'd go with Japanese audio/eng subs if I could I guess.

I'm probably biased because I have a young blonde friend who is drop dead gorgeous and she has a deep voice like Zelda, so I liked it.

On one hand some say the Japanese voices are overacted

Well, this is a fact. That is the standard for the anime/game industry in Japan. People don't talk like they sound in anime/games. It comes down to whether you like that or not.

I was going to make a thread about this very topic.

I TRULY, TRULY, hope there's an option for Japanese VA with Eng subs in the Switch release.

I, admittedly was one of those people who was against voice acting in Zelda. I think I was that way, up until I saw the Japanese trailer that was just released. A mute Link, with VA elsewhere is a good compromise, and I really enjoyed the voice acting in the Japanese trailer.

I found whoever Zelda's VA was in the English trailer to be SO dull and boring.

I'm not one of those people who are super elitist only need to have Japanese VA on only. I played FFXV completely in English because I LOVED the voice acting in that gamse. I thought NoE did a FABULOUS job with Xenoblade Chronicles. Even XCX was pretty good. I know we haven't heard much of the English voice acting, but I'm scared. This looks like it's going to replace WW as my favorite game of all time based on that trailer and all the gameplay shown. I don't want to be taken out of it with shitty voice acting.

Japanese dub is one of the best I've heard lately judging from that trailer. That cry is so impactful.

The English dub felt emotionless, flat, and as if the performers were reading their lines for the first time as they spoke them.

So, Japanese as usual.

I like the english one. I dunno, some Japanese dubs I just can't stand but there's nothing too wrong with either one.

I just wanted to point out that both the US Zelda and US Mario Odyssey ones have over 3 million views on them right now. That's pretty impressive.
