i'm not sure what you mean by small, I haven't really digged up what they actually are. How I interpreted the divine beasts thing is something like Twilight Princess, where you go in dungeons to save the Beasts Spirits. Not only is it a recurring theme with TP but it lines up with the 4 dungeons old rumor / leak and the 4 big pillars around the castle.

There are actually at least 5 pillars around the castle, and there may be a six one we can't see behind the castle.

I'm not an insider nor doing I have a secret backstage pass.

My university friend went to an event here in the UK to play the Switch. He says that he stumbled through one of the menus while playing Breath of the Wild and there was a mission log which seemed further ahead than what the demo was at.

He said the mission was

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR BOTW LINK'S IDENTITY

'Complete the Hero of Time's destiny'

He's not a big Zelda or Nintendo fan either and simply writes some games articles for a newspaper.

If this is true,
fallen hero timeline confirmed
.

[Location Spoiler] I remember there was a random poster here before the Switch event who confirmed
the Forgotten Memories sidequest, and also stated there would be a Goron City. Easy location to guess, but still nice to know.

it will get > 95 on metacritic, if uncharted 4 got 93 , Zelda looks miles better and it seems that it will deliver an amazing experience for zelda fans and gamers in general.

Honestly, I think Zelda will get dragged for its graphics/artstyle, not having voice acting everywhere, and having areas of barren terrain (even though there's quick traversal via warp points, the paraglider, and surfing, and the world is huge).

Anyways, who else is excited as fuck to steal this guy's weapon?

I feel like it will get less than Uncharted 4.
I hope not though, but in the end, it doesn't matter, so..

I can't really see it being criticized for that to be honest. While not amazing technically the art direction is fantastic overall, none of the past Zelda's had voice acting and got great reviews so if only cutscenes are voiced I think most people will be perfectly fine. The map looks great, large variety of locals and has that Xenoblade style vertical exploration that so many other big open world games lack. Maybe I'm just fanboying a bit but I think we can be pretty optimistic overall about reviews, Zelda almost always reviews very well.

You're forgetting that most reviewers don't care about the game design, the level design, or the overall depth of gameplay.
that's how games like Uncharted can score so high

While the graphics doesn't looks mindblowing, the art style is gorgeous. Baren terrain? You have enemy out posts, shrines (optional dungeons), cities and many more, I don't think it will be a problem.

I mean, I agree with all those points, I just think that by throwing their hat in the open-world ring, they are leaving themselves open to more criticism and comparison, even if they nail most of the design (which it looks like they're doing so far).

I'm just giving reasons it will be dragged or criticized, I know how much stuff's in the overworld. I can easily see complaints about the shrines being visually repetitive, even if they're spaced out.

I've been mostly lurking in here, but due to the spoilery talk I'm going to abandon this thread right now.

Since there are talks of ratings I predict a solid 87 on Metacritic.

Yes, it might get criticized for some issues, but it will get minimum 95 on metacritic, I have a good feeling, believe me :)

Also I know it's early days, but if anyone has OT name suggestions I'm all ears. Starting to design it now so thought I'd ask.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild |OT| I still think Link might be a girl in this one

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild |OT| Wii-U's Swan Song & Switch's Baptism

Yea that sounds corny.

|OT| Open Your Eyes, Look Up To The Skies, And See...

I was pretty hyped when I thought about the flying bird being a dungeon, but if all these mechanic monsters are dungeons it becomes old pretty fast. Hope they add some variety.

I don't think that crawling one could be a dungeon but IDK.

I have an idea that seeing as the trailer only appears to show three of the collosusesses, the fourth one might actually be shown from within with those big cylindrical rooms.

Could be four main dungeons aside from the four giants, think the various races will each have a corner of the map too.

Me too I'm afraid the reviews will be cool but not great just because it's completely copypasted to the other open world games even though it's way more interesting in a gameplay POV

Oh heck yeah

I'm sooo happy to finally see a proper Shiekah warrior in a Zelda game, defector or not.

That raises a lot of interesting questions about the kind of gear you can get - I assume the energy katana has a high durability rating and can put a dent in Guardians pretty easily, but it's really heavy for Link to wield.

I assume we'll get the Mask of Truth as a wearable item that boosts stealth for a limited time, possibly making you invisible. Presumably the hood and scarf from the reveal trailer a while back boosts your stealth.

And lastly, we saw in previous footage that Link can equip samurai attire, so we'll probably get a ninja outfit like that Shiekah as well, with stealth boosting effects.

Would you guys stop with the nonsense mantra that Nintendo games have the most depth and best design already? UC4 scored highly because people were genuinely impressed with the game. It has quality voice acting, graphics, shooting, storytelling etc...Blood Borne scored very high for very different reasons, is the media biased there too? It scored high with many of the points you would label in a Zelda game, level design, lore, gameplay, depth, etc...I don't get why can't Zelda be amazing without it being soooo much better than Uncharted?

it's just immature. Certain reviewers will value different aspects of quality than others. For longest of times, I couldn't see how anyone could even get through a Metroid game. For such a big game, it's so sparse on storytelling and direction, and yet people praise it as some of the best games of all time. Not for me it isn't, got bored to death with it and it was one of the reasons i even bought a Gamecube in the first place.

Everyone's different, no reason to tear down one game to build up another.

What are the chances of a flying mount or item that gives a flying ability? Seeing that we have to tackle the flying bird Guardian makes me cautiously optimistic for a Loftwing or similar creature.. Though the Birdman from the second to last trailer may be our ticket up.

Here's hoping for the option to fly, though, as expansive as the world is. I want tons of mounts, not just horses!

I'm gonna say BotW gets metacritic'd around 94. Even if they fault it for minor things (visuals, to much openness, etc...) its still a Zelda game with an incredible physics engine. I'm gonna say the game gets a lot of boosts for the physics and survival system added to the core Zelda gameplay. Hell, every review of recent Zelda games have said they wanted big changes to the Zelda formula and BotW is a huge change up compared to previous games.

The Sheikah symbol on the mask really made me double take when I saw it initially. Why would ANY of Ganon's forces be wearing that thing?

There's been a weird association between Ganon and the Sheikah for a long time, maybe we'll learn more about it finally.
