But, god, I would fucking love it if some crazy person just dropped $10k on ARMS or Windjammers or Nidhogg and just put the Marvel/Pokken people into a tizzy

I just don't like that kind of "get your shitty game out of my tournament" behavior, period. That's all. I don't think donating to charity gives you a free pass for being a shitstain. I'm glad it's for a good cause, though.

Nidhogg or Windjammers would have been cool to see. Ah well, I'd vastly prefer Marvel to win over Pokken, god that game was boring to watch last year. Plus as long as there's competitive Catherine Evo is saved.
I would really like to see a big event of alternative 1v1 competitive games, for your nidhoggs and divekicks and Catherine's, though I guess even they would eventually run into their problem of there just not being enough space.

Welp, it looks like KI is most likely not gonna get enough support to be part of the EVO lineup.
I think this will be the first EVO in about 8 years that I will not be watching. I refuse to support the event with their bullshit lineup this year.
I know that they can't please everyone, but I'm too annoyed to give them any semblance of support or viewership with a game like KI being left out.

KI has fewer entrants than an anime fighter like every year.
Unless I'm remembering wrong I think the first year it had fewer players than even Persona 4 Arena.

Your best bet is whenever Max does his KI donation stream. This is UMvC3's last chance before MvCI comes along. UMvC3's story needs to end on a high note. Every EVO since 2002 had Mahvel, no reason to stop now.

But I'd rather spectate Marvel. But I think Pokken is more fun to play. But Marvel has the legacy. But Pokken is Nintendo. *shrug*
Technically Pokkén is mostly handled by Bandai Namco & The Pokémon Company. All Nintendo does is help distribute the game as well as provide set-ups for some majors. Most of the competitive scene for the game is handled by TPC.
That said, I do like Pokkén as a game, it's just that I kinda fell out of it after it never got any of the arcade updates (hence me hoping for a Switch port or sequel).
That attitude is just as shitty. Throwing your money around just to make people upset out of spite for a few people being assholes makes YOU an asshole as well.
Promote your game, promote your scene, vote with your wallets for what you like. Don't go out of your way to try to "troll" a community of people out of spite. That's a garbage attitude to have.

True enough. Probably better not let hate perpetuate and cycle. In my case it's more of a slight nudge when I'm already sort of on the fence one way or the other.
Still, poking and prodding with the competition and joking about people being salty, it all helps build money for the charity. At the end of the day, that's not such a bad thing.
My game and community are already at Evo though thanks to the last donation drive. I know how much it can help kickstart a scene, and how much it would have hurt not to make it. Which also kinda makes me wanna donate to SG. Lots of good options in the poll.
KI is a deadass game. Not surprised its not a guaranteed spot anymore
ARMS, despite being unproven, I can kinda understand. It'd be nice to have something legitimately different in comparison to the more standard fighters there. Felt the same way about Smash before there became fucking two of them each year lol.
I think your post would better apply to Pokken tbh... paying to delay everyone else's games, lol.

This is just like real voting. Nobody wants MvC3 or Pokken, and are voting against the big 2 rather than voting for them. Then there's the Arms voters who are protest voting, or trolling.

Yeah it basically appeals pretty much only to the Xbox only crowd and only a extremely small subgroup of that userbase. Turnout seems smaller and smaller each year too. MvC3 is a much better choice as it reaches across all userbases.
