We're nearly getting to the point where more people are watching individual youtube or twitch streams than TV network shows. The last CSGo twitch stream had over a million viewers on sunday. Granted, there have been a number of twitch streams with millions of viewers (CES, Nintendo Switch, DOTA finals, etc) but it'll be interesting in 5, 10, 15? years when just regular streamers are having more viewers than network TV shows.

There's also people watching those network shows on streams from official network websites. Like me.

I love you dead souls, but sometimes it feels like you're the version of me that hates Legends from an earth that eats corn on the cob vertically.

I see so much hate for these DC shows now, don't understand it. They are certainly not award-winning writing shows, but they are good popcorn fun.

The key is expectations. I know what they are going to deliver, they are formulaic, and I'm just fine with that. When you start to expect something that is not there, or pit it up against an actual well written, award-winning show, of course you will be disappointed and think it's 'crap'.

I think it's a combination of a few factors. Some people are genuinely over superhero shit (or were never on board to begin with) and others are projecting, basically needing this brand to fail for one reason or another. Those two different groups of people meet on the internet and it can feel like a pretty negative environment.

The truth to it is that most TV has the same problems. Even the stuff that's considered really, really good.

DCTV is better than the MCU

The MCU hasn't produced anything as good as the first season of the Flash, let alone all of DCTV's highs.

I can't stop picturing this now.

What's great is that you'll remember this the next time you go to eat corn and you'll try it. Then you'll realize you did it because some guy on the internet remembered the basic premise to a Dennis Miller joke from the 90s -- before he became a total shithead.

Then we'll all wonder what we're doing with our lives.

I just guess my expectations are not as high as most. I read on here all the time how 'such and such' show/episode was/is shit. And I will be like "Uh, ok. I actually kind of like(d) it." And I'm not just talking about the DC shows.

Don't get me wrong, there are shows I've stopped watching because I feel they turned to crap, or ones I just don't enjoy anymore. But it does seem it takes a lot, compared to others, for me to tune out.

I would make a really bad critic.

I would say Daredevil is above any of the DC shows and Agents of Shield is up there with The Flash. Gotham is up there with Daredevil. But that's opinions and all.

The CW DC shows are super formulaic and it can be a real drag getting through them if you watch all four shows.

I certainly agree that the CW DC shows are formulaic. But for me, I'm ok with that, I still enjoy them. Like I said before, they are good popcorn fun.

Yes, I know at the end of The Flash, Barry is going to stop that villain-of-the week, or Ollie is going to still get jealous (even though he won't admit it) if Felicity looks at another guy, or Mick is going to threaten to kill someone by the end of the every episode (I love Mick, btw). But I'm ok with 'knowing' those things.

Maybe it's because I deal with stress from work all week, so I have no problem at all when watching TV I can do casually. As long as I enjoy it, that's all that matters to me.

I will say one of my biggest pet peeves is when writers decide to write established characters, well, out of character. The example I can think of the most is on Grimm, and going to spoiler this for those who haven't watched the over-arcing storyline yet:

What the fuck happened to Renard? They establish him as an intelligent and moral person throughout the first 3 1/2 seasons that works with Nick in putting down bad Wesen and protecting the city. Where he turns at the first sign of power from Black Claw, just because they can offer him mayor. What? Very poor writing, no good reason, IMO, on why he turned.

That said, I still really enjoy Grimm, and being it's last season I see no reason to drop it now even if I didn't.

As for Daredevil, I've heard good things about it, but haven't had the chance to watch it. Third season now? Has the quality at least remained the same from the first season?

My wife and I actually have a phrase for this. We call it <insert character name> not taking their sane pills.

It seems to show up when writers run out of things to do with said character.

Anyone watching Cardinal? It's a Canadian six-part crime drama television series.

Cardinal is a serialised six-part one-hour drama based on the critically acclaimed novels by Giles Blunt. The series is written by Aubrey Nealon (Orphan Black) who also acts as Executive Producer for the series alongside Sienna Films’ Jennifer Kawaja and Julia Sereny (Titanic, TV mini series), and is directed by award-winner Daniel Grou (19-2).

Featuring gripping drama and high emotional stakes, and anchored by rich and engaging characters, Cardinal uses shifting points of view to deliver a suspense thriller.

The series begins with the discovery of Katie Pine, a missing 13-year old whose body is discovered in the shaft-head of an abandoned mine. Cardinal follows detectives John Cardinal (Billy Campbell, The Killing) and Lise Delorme (Karine Vanasse, Revenge) as they attempt to uncover the mystery of what happened to the young girl. But as the case grows in scope and horror, a dark secret from Cardinal’s history threatens to derail the investigation.

Cardinal struggles to right past wrongs that could derail his investigation and end his career, as the case grows more violent and twisted, and the clock ticks down on the killer’s next victim.

I've started up The Good Place, and first things first, I love that each episode is only 21 minutes long and is it 13 episodes you say? This makes it possible for me to finish the season even while I got a lot of other shows on my schedule.

The main actress is doing a good job, and I love the whole humor of this one. The whole Good Place thing going on and her having trouble fitting in with this perfect lifestyle. I was laughing out loud when I saw the end of the pilot episode with the huge lady bug and whatnot.

I'm on to Episode 3 now.

The CW doesn't have enough cape shows. I see still like 5 shows they can replace. Reign and The Vampire Diaries for instance should be replace by Arrowverse shows.

Bring Back Constantine! It had potential. I'm not going to retroactively pretend it was great, but there were some fun episodes mixed in that first season. It'd be a nice Friday show, that's a good night for magic genre programming for some reason.

I agree I watched the first few episodes and though what I saw was mediocre at best.

As much as I enjoy the CW super hero shows I think they have enough right now. The only thing I wouldn't mind seeing would be a shorter show (maybe 8-10 episodes a season) that runs over the summer.

The CW is clearly not interested in any new superhero shows right now, based on their upcoming pilots:

Dynasty said:
A modernized reboot of the 1980s primetime soap that follows two of America’s wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children. The series will be told primarily through the perspectives of two women at odds: Fallon Carrington, daughter of billionaire Blake Carrington, and her soon-to-be stepmother, Cristal, a Hispanic woman marrying into this WASP family and America’s most powerful class. Features the 1% in all its glitz and gloss, while exposing the dark underbelly: a corrupt world built on backroom deals.

Insatiable said:
A disgraced, dissatisfied civil lawyer-turned-beauty pageant coach takes on a vengeful, bullied teenager as his client and has no idea what he’s about to unleash upon the world.

Searchers said:
A group of unlikely heroes finds themselves on the journey of a lifetime. Ten years after the death of their parents, a pragmatic brother and free-spirited sister are forced to team up when they learn that their mother’s terrifying and bizarre stories might be a road map to discovering the great legends, myths and unexplainable mysteries of the world.

Life Sentence said:
Hourlong dramedy centers on a young woman who is diagnosed with terminal cancer. When finds out that she’s not dying after all, she has to learn to live with the choices she made when she decided to “live like she was dying.”

Dynasty and Insatiable are from CBS; Searchers and Life Sentence from WB, with the former being a Berlanti production.

They clearly need some shows to cancel next year as well. Searchers can easily be rewritten into a comic book show.

Season finale reveals it's actually set on Apokolips. The Mom was actually Granny Goodness and the son and daughter are Mr. Miracle and Big Barda.

Waiting for the call, Berlanti.

"Wrong."

And I feel like that Dynasty reboot is already D.O.A. It sounds like something CMT could make work, but The CW? I'm skeptical.

Dynasty has a shot because they're already doing their CW casting. Nathalie Kelley will jump from The Vampire Diaries to Dynasty.

Why are they remaking Dynasty? Are prime time soaps about about rich people doing rich people things in gigantic mansions still a thing? Blood & Oil just failed spectacularly.

Is Dynasty as an IP even worth that much? Even in the 80s it was just Dallas with more shoulder pads and less cows. And why is the new show built around Fallon and Christal at odds when the only memorable character from the original was Alexis?

Oh shit, now I gotta watch Dynasty. At least I'll give it a chance. Haven't seen the original or WBs remake.

Also as a huge comic book and superhero fan, the CW doesn't need any more cape shows, especially not from Berlanti. The four shows they got already are so formulaic that they don't need another one. Or rather, I don't need one lol.

I don't understand ABC's Tuesday scheduling. A bunch of sitcom repeats airing before a new episode of S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn't make much sense to me. I've always wondered why ABC doesn't pair it with something like Once Upon a Time on Sundays, creating a "genre block" of television that acts as counterprogramming to cartoons and football.

Honestly because I think they've given up on the show

It's been the lead-off to the night
Anchor to a night
Closer for a night

Paired with comedies and drama and this that and the third.

It hasn't improved anything

Also how are you the only new show on a night and still the least watched episode.
