Megaton. Durante helped Xseed fix up the Little King's Story port

Or is everyone now used to how the real me looks?

No! I missed it. Haven't been on GAF much this year. Post it! I love putting faces to names.

OT: Durante continues to be too good to be true. Amazing work man. I hope you get more "real" (read: paid/official) work as a result of this. The industry, and especially my favorite platform, are demonstrably better thanks to your involvement.

I am tempted to pick this game up now. My brother loved it on the Wii, but the technical issues were keeping me away from the PC version.

Durante continues being a god, keep on keeping on brother.

Dark Souls PC would barely exist without you.

Honestly.

It's one of the biggest reasons why I even learned a bit about it in the first place. There's a good chance I wouldn't get to know what is now my favorite series without his work. This is insane.

Bought it because this.

It's really great that XSEED made the effort to fix the port, and great that Durante did all he could to make it as good as possible. This kind of thing deserves to be supported, props to everyone involved.

Great work, Durante! You're the superhero of PC ports. Hopefully more publishers keep you in mind next time they have trouble making a good port.

That's amazing. Durante should always be hired.

... that said, even with all this fixes... is the game playable? I've read about it not being possible to complete as some event isn't working.

Buying it now. XSEED and Durante are pretty great.

edit: Oh god, it's nuts seeing the Developer tag on Durante's Steam posts.
It was pretty exciting getting access to the developer side of Steam. And seeing just how "Valve" it is. (I mean this in a mostly positive sense!)

Fix what? That's up to devs to fix their core gameplay. Recore isn't techically as bad on PC (it's unity...) as this port coming from Wii.

Working AA for one, as well as whatever is causing performance to almost break for many set-ups

We more Durante in the world, and less UWP nonsense

Last time I said that about someone I ended up dating them, hmm

I don't have a LinkedIn account :p

Ken from XSEED contacted me directly.

Speaks volumes about the XSEED people being cool.
Pretty good of them to contact you to help fix problems and even if not 100% issues free, good job man. I know I'll be getting the game soon, with it getting this relaunch sale.

Thank you for doing this Durante. Even if you were paid, it sounds like very tedious work. Also, I appreciated your blog post detailing what decisions you made and why. I think these kinds of things are really helpful to contextualize the end result. XSEED made the right choice in not only hiring you but allowing us to see behind the curtain.

Already owned it on Wii, was gonna wait for a deep discount due to it being a poor port, thanks Durante and XSEED for the effort.

I hope this will convince people to buy it.

I hope he got paid handsomely for the amount of work he apparently put in.

Just bought it because of this news. I liked it on Wii but stayed away from the PC port after hearing bad things. Great work and awesome write up explaining the process.

I'm back at my home so I just bought it.

I was just thinking about Durante last night over some beers and was wondering if his profession was related to this or if he's just a hobbyist. I mean clearly he's a pro at this but I mean in the sense that his regular gig was working on these things for software/game companies.

Now I see this and I'm even more impressed.

Hat's off to him. Between this and DS fixes durante has become an invaluable part of the gaming community for me

Durante finally getting paid to do the things he already does out of the goodness of his heart.

For real, this is awesome, and I hope Durante continues to get work like this. I think I have to buy this game just to show my support.

Absolutely. I was talking about this to Ken at XSEED before the release, and we both agree that it's essential to be as open as possible with these things.

In my personal opinion, something that Gabe Newell pointed out in an interview a while back is essential in this context, and that is that on the internet, no company truly gets to "control the message". This is often the case even for large companies, so it's doubly true for smaller ones. and it often seems like it is hard to accept from a traditional marketing perspective. I think that the best way to deal with this for a company, both in terms of reputation but also ultimately in terms of financial outcome, is to invest less in controlling the message and more into making sure that there is an actual good message to spread.

Durante delivers when devs don't. Dude brings the dark sorcery to make PC ports perform like they should.

I don't even play games on PC, and I recognise the work that Durante has done to get sub-par PC releases up to an actual playable standard. Good work dude!

Damn hiring Durante for this is a great idea, and I'm surprised that he wasn't into this game before being hired to work on the project.

I was wanting to bite on this because I really liked it on Wii, but read about the bad port and it wasn't worth buying again if the Wii version had better controls and comparable graphics. Glad I can buy it now.

Honestly I didnt even know it had released. After all these years this seems like as good a time as any to give it a go. Very cool stuff from Durante. I appreciate being able to read about the process as well, even if I don't really understand it in a technical sense it is interesting none the less.

Really cool news, thanks Durante! The world is now a brighter place.

Sorta off topic but I gave up on this game really late through the thing (I think I moved and it sorta fell off my agenda), how is the port? Should I just pick up where I was on the Wii and maybe consider PC for another playthrough?

If I wasn't broke with Yakuza and Nioh, I would buy this asap... or maybe just wait for the week-end and buy it impusively
