The only Batman character who got straight up cut from I1 is Batgirl - Nightwing's moveset is gone but the character of Damian Wayne is preserved as Robin - and we're getting more of them. That game had 6 Batman characters in the base roster (Batman, Nightwing, Joker, Harley, Bane and Catwoman), which was 25% of the roster of 24 characters. The percentage was reduced post DLC where we only got 1 additional Batman character out of 6 DLCs, with a total of 7 out of 30 post DLC.

If the leak is true, however, Injustice 2 bumps up the Batwank. Out of 28 characters, the 6 from the original come back, plus Poison Ivy, Scarecrow and Mr. Freeze, so we're going from a fourth to a third (9 out of 28) of the roster being Batman characters.

I remember a common complaint lobbed at Injustice 1 was that there was too many Batman characters compared to other DC properties. Yet here we are.

Hahaha Batwank. I'm using that in the future. I don't think Mr freeze is going to be a standalone character but rather a premium skin. Now that's all conjecture and I could be wrong but we'll see. You're right about the complaints but truth is, casual gamers who don't go on message boards or publicly discuss the game at all don't mind the Batwank. It's kind of like how a lot of people complained about the ridiculous number of guest characters (I am one of the complainers) in MKX, and Scorpion being in IJ1 but those sold a shit ton. It's all about business and the more recognizable DC (cough ahem Batman) characters, then the better odds casual people will pick the game up. I personally prefer there to be less Batwank as well though . I fully expect the character select screen to change as well and there will be 31 slots but we will see.

I'm going to miss Sinestro . I hated luthor though haha. I've mentioned Sinestro before to some of my friends who aren't into comics and they had no clue who he was, which surprised me. I think your suggestion would be the most ideal resolution to the Batwank, I agree. There's also the possibility though that they know if they spam us with so much Batwank then we will be eager to buy their non Batwank dlc .

Sinestro seems to be one of those border cases. People who watch(ed) some of the cartoons or the awful Green Lantern movie are well aware of him. In fact, I think he would probably be better known as "Yellow Lantern", because people do know that Green Lantern has other lantern colours represented, just that his name isn't as well known.

I agree with your theory; I think she comes home with the Oliver Queen/Green Arrow of the other universe. Given her son's name is Connor, it might be possible we see a "Connor Hawke" premier skin for Green Arrow.

So damn psyched for Black Canary! She's one of the two characters I desperately wanted to make the roster, with the other being Red Hood. Her combos look sick and I can already tell I'm gonna have so much fun with her. And she looks fantastic! Face looks great, and I love her outfit too. Her Canary Cry sounds ace too.

Glad to see her bio reference the comic. I'd like to know what happened with her newfound Ollie, though. Would make sense for him to come over.

That actually seems to be the realistic theory. Most people believe this will be the case as more and more characters from the leak are being confirmed.

That Cheetah (or Catwoman) and Doctor Freeze are premium skins.

I agree with you. Boon himself said that you can't have a DC game w/o Lex or the Joker. I'd be kinda annoyed if Lex was omitted after that comment, albeit it was an offhand comment.

Mr. Freeze is definitely one of the Premier Skins (for Captain Cold), but if Cheetah is a her own character or a Premier Skin can be debated.

Yeah, those 2 are the most glaring omissions from the roster. I still wouldn't be satisfied with the cuts from 1 because I really enjoyed playing Zod, Killer Frost, Zatanna and MMH, but if at least I can have Lex and Sinestro back, I will grudgingly concede that the roster overall is probably a lot better balanced for popularity and what's being promoted right now in the shows and movies.

Boon said it's the biggest base roster they ever done

MK9 had 28 (29 if count Kratos) + the site having 31 slots + the leaked list being 100% true so far and having more than 28 characters makes it look convincing

But unless Boon is counting Premier skins as their own chars which is also a possibility
