Stellaris |OT| Imperium Universalis

Yeah I never saw the Leviathan DLC as worth it for the price they were asking. I'll wait for Utopia and just get Leviathans when it hits 75% off or something down the line.

Yeah the best part about Paradox supporting their games for a long time is that I can buy one or two expansions a year at 75% off (or skip Cossacs entirely because estates are bullshit).

We've just updated to version 0.9 of the Star Trek New Horizons mod.
If you don't see 0.9 on the new game menu it means that Steam hasn't gotten around to giving you the latest yet...

Tonnes of changes, such as a complete revamp of utilities and weapons; new ships for Andorians, Tellarites, Cardassians, Xindi, Undine and Dominion; better German and French localisation; Obsidian Order espionage system (basically a clone of our existing Tal Shiar system); Rigellian and Cheronite (half black / half white from Original Series) portraits... lots of cool changes.

Anyway, who doesn't like glamour shots?

Dominion War re-made:

From Hell's heart I stab at thee...

Beautiful.

Does anyone know how multiplayer would work if I have the Leviathon DLC but someone I want to play with doesn't?

From what I remember, only the host needs the dlc and everyone joining will have access to the new content. So make sure you are hosting and it should be fine.

What could possibly go wrong.

Random idea for a diplomacy tweak I had while I'm sitting here not working...

Remove bulk resource gifts. Have them only be available as a part of a larger deal. Change resource "donations" to be either loans (with a variety of repayment options) or per-month grants. This encourages longer-term relationships between empires, and discourages the current "dump my useless minerals on the AI to butter them up" approach.

With global food being a thing I hope spying/intel gathering isn't too far away. Could add an interesting dimension to warfare if you are able to identify where all their prime food or energy production is coming from, letting you strategically capture those worlds and essentially starve their empire into defeat.

Yeah, Wiz promised global food a while ago. Seems like it'll make into this patch.

Was such a daft thing to not be included in the first place.

We can send starships to other solar systems but we have no way of sharing food among our colonies.

To be fair... the infrastructure requirements to transfer food over stellar distances on any meaningful scale would be pretty hefty.

Depends on the food, no? Fresh fruits and vegetables wouldn't last, but if farms are churning out something closer to MREs then they'd easily last. He'll, make it a choice; have a "fresh foods" planetary edict that increases happiness but decreases % contributed to the global pool.

Correct, but the same is true of minerals and energy, as if you could transfer electricity from one planet to another with any kind of efficiency. But it's one of those things I can live with.

Spooky action at a distance for electricity?

Not so sure about spooky soup at a distance.

Spooky Soup!

I guess my preference would be for food to be an accumulable resource at the planet level, with a cargo mechanic to move it where needed.

That's the point though, except they abstract the cargo part because no one wants to do the job that a clerk would do in your empire.

No what I mean is, each planet should have a food store, and blockading should then force that store to deplete. As it stands it doesn't look like the resource stores below the empire level.

Either way, I hope we get some modding capacity to add new resources to the UI. Latinum and Ketracel White are hard to work with in New Horizons because we can't show your store of them.

Put a fleet above their agriworld - or just a single ship - and start bombarding them. Limited or Full bombardment will make pops unable to work. You can already do this to kneecap their mineral/energy outcome.

fucking heretiiiiiics!

Oh my word, finally Exterminatus is here. I was a little unsure if I was going to bring back my WH parody race but I don't think I have a choice now when Utopia drops. The name for this dlc is becoming more and more ironic as each new detail on it comes to light.

Is all this new stuff part of the DLC, update, mod? I am kind of lost here.

The first two. Some of the stuff will be in the free update, but the major stuff will be paid DLC.

Well you could have an empire where your citizens live in eternal bliss!
supported by a slave under caste because eternal bliss is really bad for your productivity!

Do you guys play with any mods?

I have been giving Alphamod a shot but now that I am in the mid game it feels pretty unbalanced so many overpowered buildings and stuff haha so I am thinking about not using it any more.

Auto survey at start, Interstellar Music Mod, so nothing big.

Question. My best friend and I tried to play this when it first came out multiplayer but it would not let us load our saved game and it is too much of a game to do in one shot.

Has this problem been fixed since then? Are ya'll able to save and then load multiplayer games successfully?

Are you just now trying to reload the game? Or was it giving the error back towards when you started? If it was recently then I think it's the new patches that would break the save but you may be able to roll back via the beta options.

I'm talking about from launch era. My friend refuses to play until it is fixed so I'm hoping to lure him in with Banks and Utopia, but will only work if they fixed the multiplayer save issue.

So, question. Does anybody know if there is any combat mods for multiplayer that can stretch out wars? What I mean by that is, basically, for most of the game, a single, decisive naval engagement is the only real viable option. There are no other methods within which to engage other players in a war. Which leaves a lot of enjoyment on the table because there's no diversity at all with the wars like in something like EUIV.

So I bought the game at launch, never played it. Is it a good time to dive in ? Wait for a new patch or DLC ? Gimme dat GAF wisdom.

[NinjaEdit: GAF consensus at work, lol.]

I'd dive in now, personally. As exciting as the stuff on the horizon is, there's plenty to see and do currently, with the biggest flaws smoothed over from launch. While Stellaris is like other Paradox titles--always improving--if you're constantly waiting for the thing on the horizon you'll end up waiting forever. Gotta jump in at some point, might as well be now.

Those space foxes won't conquer the galaxy on their own, after all.

There's also a Citizen Service partially hidden under the tooltip.

Feel free to dive in already, if for nothing else than learning the ropes.

I've covered the world in facism, I've sent my gay son off to die in crusaders, I've let an empire fall as I fought with my brother over our birthright, I've put everyone in my court to the sword because I couldn't find a suitable husband, I've send tens of thousands of people to death over the tiniest pieces of trade power, I've nuked cilivzations into the ground, but never have I dared imagine purifying the universe with a race of warmongering, xenophobic furries.

Clearly you weren't thinking big enough. But do not worry, you can already start practising, just have to do the purges manually.
