My guess was that the community didn't want to deal with the stress of it all again. Going that far and not making it has to be crushing.

I think Skullgirls might be doing their own event these days instead?

Apparently he can get 35% back during tax time next year in the highest bracket which I think he belongs to, even if barely... so if thats accurate we just gave him +/- 40K when all is said and done? Lowest bracket gets 15% so that's be something like 17K-20K or so, capped at 50% of his regular yearly earnings.

It doesn't. The charitable given deduction subtracts the amount you gave from your income, but you have to be the one giving it; depending on exactly how the drive is structured, either he earns $100k (say) more from the donations but is then forgiven taxes on it when he gives it away, or he earns $0 more and is forgiven taxes on nothing because it never passed through his hands.
