Makes sense, I was wondering since they kept mentioning their "Decision", so maybe there was a chance they'll just keep marvel even if they didn't collect the full amount, justifying it in some way or just not disclosing the info.

For real though, well played to anyone who donated. The Pokken / Marvel rivalry at the end there definitely helped to drive that total up, and that's all that matters at the end of the day.
 
It was a good battle. Glad Marvel won.

And a few guys saying "Get fucked Pokken" does not mean they're from the Marvel community. That is ridiculous.

Not gonna lie, knees were weak, arms were heavy, butts were clenched in that last 10 minutes. Pokken COULD HAVE EASILY taken it with a couple of snipes, it was razor edge close.

Props to Pokken for a good fight, hope they get a shot next year.

Amen to that, buddy. I really hope the Pokken community ends up getting that Switch port with the new arcade characters. The dedication you guys put in exceeded even my own initial expectations.

Think it was top 16 or something straight through to the end. Which is madness. How it was organized was an issue I believe and a bad call. I can only guess someone at Evo saw how quickly a round could end and thought they could fit that many matches in and was shown that you can't. A lot of back and forth can take place once you get to the higher tier players. That's why it went on so long when it really shouldn't have. I also think it ended up starting late because of another game as well.

So? If the competition is fierce then it doesn't matter if there are 30,000 versus 32. 1000+ people entered Pokken but it was clear only a handful of players knew how to play. Same issue with Melee... you think anyone other than the top 32 in Melee have a shot of winning EVO?

The concentrated group of players still playing Marvel 3 has produced fierce competition and will continue to do so. The game is competitive among the top 32 or so players in the game, maybe even more.

That's the spirit of EVO, it's to create fierce competition and storylines which Marvel has done before and continue to do so. It's not just about numbers although it's CLEAR that Marvel 3 has gotten its spot through sheer numbers.


And it will have more than 400 people in it at EVO.
 
Awesome to see UMvC3 pulling it out. I hope the Pokken community can get their fanbase together and do something like Smash has and create their own scene. Clearly there is lots of love there, organize yourselves and make it happen!
