Injustice 2 Roster Discussion & Speculation Thread

To be honest, I wouldn't get too hyped about tomorrow's stream.

Sounds like the actual most unhype thing ever if that's all they're doing. Considering not even tuning in at this point.

So they'll most likely announce the next beta character and wave 4. That's about as exciting as it will get, from the looks of it. Disappointing...

The most I'm hoping for is for them to open up the beta more significantly.

That and maybe some clues about upcoming content or features, as they will be answering questions.

I don't expect the questions to get more than a "we will discuss this at length in the future". And I would LIKE the beta to go open so the player pool would open up a bit, but Boon has shot that down a few times. It'll probably be another small wave, another reddit contest, and more passed off fans haha

Yeah, I'll just check out the stream replay later. I'm not too bothered about the beta, even though I'm really eager to try it out. I get that they have to trickle them out to avoid a mess like what happened with the SFV beta, but I feel like they hyped it up a bit too much, and should have stressed how limited it would be a little more and handled their sign-ups differently, like perhaps based on gamertags so people couldn't spam the sign-ups. In fairness to NR though, a lot of the worst backlash is from people being unreasonable.

Lit? Well pack it up guys, it's obviously Constantine! You know, like a lit cigarette?

I'm excited to see firestorm. I really, REALLY hope there is more to the stream than just some casual beta playing lol. There is this tweet from Boon, so maybe we will get something else tomorrow?

All they've said so far is they'll have someone playing the beta live (I assume a pro or something), and more beta news (which we hope is the next character and wave 4). The trailer Boon is talking about may not be out tomorrow, but I sure hope it's sooner than later. We will see in like 14 hours I guess.

You know what, something just dawned on me. 16 Bit is known for being a Catwoman player. That may suggest a possibility of a Catwoman reveal. Now I'm going to highball it and say the odds of this are between zero and 5 percent but you never know lol.

Firestorm is going to interesting just to see what they do with his moveset.

If they use his transmutation abilities or not.

I would disappointed if he was just discount Cinder.

Really hope WW or Grodd get in the Beta.

And also a Beta code....

Still can't believe they wasted a slot on BB's useless ass.

I'm expecting that we'll see no new reveals, but that Harley Quinn will be the character added to the beta, so we'll see some new, 'high' level gameplay from her for the first time today. Plus more beta invites, some light new info in the Q&A section, not much else.

Would be stoked to see Firestorm next week as the reveal, though.

Yeah, sounds like a small stream answering questions and playing the game. Don't expect anything big.

Edit: Hints that GL will have the different lantern ring gear.

Premier Skins work like Shaders. You put them on and all the gear you already have will work the same way.

EDIT: When you play, you're gonna get gear for other characters but it's weighed towards the character you're using in the main game.

EDIT2: Ranked Mode is automatically base stats. So it's an automatic tournament mode.

EDIT3: Winning or losing doesn't change what gear you get. But it might differ from mode to mode, still more info to come on that.

So GL might be able to represent the whole spectrum? This is exactly what I wanted. As much as I'd love to see a rep from each colour on the spectrum, it was never going to happen. This is the next best thing. Hopefully the different colours have minor moveset differences and special abilities. I know this is already possible through the gear system.

Still holding out for a Jessica Cruz/Power Ring Premier Skin.

It would've made even more sense to have Kyle be the GL rep if they were doing all the color spectrum but nooooope, Hal Jordan again.

In the Injustice comic series, Kyle
was murdered by Sinestro
. Hal has also been a rep of every colour on the spectrum, except for Indigo.

And Hal
murdered Guy Gardner, spent years as a Yellow Lantern, and was stripped of his and brought before the Guardians along with Sinestro. Just as implausible that he becomes a Green Lantern again.

Are you forgetting Parallax? Hal, as Parallax,
destroyed the Green Lantern Corps and murdered most of the Guardians,
yet still wore a Green Lantern ring on his return. I'd wager that Parallax and the emotional entities will be used to explain his villainous turn in the original Injustice game. It's far more plausible for Hal to be repping the Green Lantern Corps than Kyle
returning from the dead
.

The character in Injustice 2 is called Green Lantern, so it's unlikely that he'll have anything to do with the Sinestro Corps. Also, doesn't one of the intro/clash quotes suggest that Hal is a good guy?

Yeah but it took a
life sacrifice and afterlife deeds
for him to become Green Lantern again. Plus that Parallax thing was kind of retconned as Hal
not really being in control of himself because of Parallax's influence
. It's not like he stayed in Justice League jail and the Guardians were just like "yeah, that's enough". I don't know what he could've done in 5 years to take up the mantel of Green Lantern again. Parallax makes sense but it also should come with a Yellow representative....actually, I dunno if it makes sense since Hal just gave up the ring to Superman in the end. I dunno if this can be blamed on Parallax's influence.

Not really, paraphrasing the only thing I really know is the dialogue between Blue Beetle and Atrocitus.

Blue Beetle: Leave Earth, we have enough rage.

Atrocitus: Not until I achieve my goal

BB: You're not getting Mr. Jordan.

This could mean that Atrocitus is trying to recruit Hal or could mean he's trying to destroy him. But then we have other evidence of recruitment.

At: Bring me Hal Jordan

Batman: He looks better in Green

At: He will serve me

So who knows. He may not have his power at games start and gains it later.

The default Liu and Kitana in MKX are living and old, but in the story mode they are all zombies.

What's on the select screen doesn't have to be "canon" to the story.

I just see no reason for thinking that Hal will be a Yellow Lantern in the story. Those Blue Beetle and Batman quotes imply that he's with them in the Insurgency faction.

Your original argument was that it makes more sense for Kyle to be the Lantern rep for Injustice if they're going to tap into the different colours of the spectrum. I was simply pointing out that there is just as much plausibility for Hal to be the Green Lantern who, through gear and customisation, can rep other colours on the spectrum. There are many in canon explanations for Hal to return to the Green Lantern Corps. The writers could use Parallax's influence to explain his actions in the first game, or deliver their own twist on that part of Hal's history. There's nothing in canon that says a Yellow Lantern can't be a Green Lantern as well. Hal has proven that many times, having wielded a Yellow Lantern Ring on many occasions. Hal is an exemplary example of the strong will needed to be a Green Lantern. Surely, in spite of the villainous path he took in the first game, he could still be worthy of a Green Lantern Ring given his strong will. Injustice 2 might deliver a Hal looking for redemption. We don't know. The in-game dialogue suggests he is no longer a Yellow Lantern, that's as much as we do know at this point.

Is that still the name of the bat faction? Aren't they in control pretty much now with Superman etc rebelling?

The only person I could see actually getting redeemed in anyway is The Flash.

Everyone else is beyond redemption.

Especially Superman and Wonder Woman.

I'm curious as to how much influence the Injustice character endings will have on the direction of the sequel. Wasn't Flash
operating under a new alias
at the end of Injustice? The
Ghost
?

But my counter argument is that how can you argue Parallax influence when he simply gives up his ring to Superman.

Unlike with Parallax's influence he didn't use his will to overcome anything, or, at least, that's not what it appears to be. Superman says it's his chance to do what's right, that he should take it, and Hal does. I'm not saying that Parallax is outside the realm of possibility in regards to Hal's behavior but it certainly doesn't appear to be that with all we have.

I'm trying to point out that there are many plausible explanations that can be given for Hal's return to the Green Lantern Corps; Yes, Hal gave up the Yellow Lantern Ring, but Parallax is just one possible explanation the writers could use, albeit with their own twists. Bringing Kyle
back from the dead
is far more implausible. We don't know what the writers have planned. Maybe Hal isn't even a Green Lantern in story mode, only other game modes.
