EVO 2017 Player's Choice Game - [Ended] UMVC3 wins #SometimesEvilWins

Glad to see Marvel took it. Not into the game at all personally, but the community for it deserves to be at Evo every year forever.

The Marvel 3 hype at EVO will be on Saturday from top 32 to top 8. The bloodbath of fire and salt will be glorious. Tears will be shed for sure, pop offs will be made and upsets will go down.

Top 8 is going to be a wash at 8 am, it's just for publicity's sake that it gets to be at Mandalay Bay when it's probably more beneficial for the game that its top 8 was Saturday night. But of course I am not complaining one bit, maybe EVO can benefit from it and it might put more seats into the arena quicker... who knows.

Really impressive chun-li. But man the TAC infinites really kill the excitement in those matches...lol
His team is actually garbage and would not work under normal situations. But the fact that he fully exploits TAC infinites and the Morrigan assist make that team work well. And the player itself is just tremendously skilled, his decision making and defense is just top notch. If TAC infinites didn't exist then this team would not be playable at high competitive level.

ChrisG is still at the top, probably the only real god that is left standing at this point.
KBR is still good and active.
Flocker appears here and there randomly and somehow does well despite the odds. He will probably return for EVO too.
Justin Wong is still good at Marvel 3 but everyone else is so much more refined than him. I do think that if he practices just a little bit he will be a contender.
FChamp is rusty as hell but he grinded the hell out of the game at FGTV to raise funds for Marvel 3. He will be back and with some practice he should be up to snuff.

PRRog is the biggest non factor when it comes to old gods because he hasn't entered in forever but he is the kind of player playing the team that he can get right back into the thick of things and do some damage.

But none of these players aside from maybe ChrisG is god status. There are no real gods left in the game, just really strong players. And the list of really strong players is really long. RyanLV, Dual Kevin, RayRay, Flux, Angelic, Priest, Clockwork, Apologyman, Cloud805, Jibrill, Full Schedule, Unknown, Terry Bogard, Cosmos, Coach Steve, Marvelo etc. Any of these players and more could make top 8 EVO.

It's an open EVO in every sense of the word. RyanLV is the current favorite because he has been undefeated in three straight major tournaments and it was against good competition (SCR, FF and Undefeated). He has a gimmick that people haven't solved yet on a large scale on top of the fact that the player himself is exceptionally talented.

So the main two storylines for this EVO are: 1) Can one of the EVO champions repeat to lay claim as the GOAT Marvel 3 player and 2) Can anyone stop RyanLV?

UMVC3 Rankings from SRK has RyanLV in top 5 already LOL! That huge climb!

Dang, KBR is salty as hell!

No clue why. If Evo did MvC3 next year, would he be just as pissed? He won, if he didn't want to play Marvel anymore, he can feel free to play Mexico's game and try to win there.

Apparently he's mad a Justin for donating 2k to Mahvel lol

Predicting this years winner gonna be hard as fuck. So many people are gonna be grinding hard not only to take the last UMVC3 Evo title, but also that 10K pot bonus.

I personally think Champ is gonna crack out again. But, for real so many killers in Marvel it's gonna be crazy godlike.

Nah, he's not mad. Most people interpret it as such though. I mean, everyone is jumping on him without actually looking at the context or asking what he means. He didn't even call out Justin or something, he just stating it

Most people don't realize this but I'm pretty sure KBR actually refrained from commenting on the entire drive because he didn't want to drive wedges between communities or be a guy that goes "rah rah" at the expense of others.

Nice rundown. It's been awhile since I watched a marvel tournament stream. I can't believe Terry Bogard is up there now. People used to clown him all the time on the PJS stream.

Someone using Chun Li/Morrigan/Phoenix winning 3 straight majors? That's crazy. I'm assuming he's using Morrigan's meter gain. I don't know how he's landing hits with no assists for Chun Li. Or maybe he stalls while fishing for a hit. I have to check out his matches.

i hope many of the japanese marvel scene show up as well.

gaf doesnt like sfv anymore huh

I think filipino champ is going to prioritize umvc3

chris g is a wild card because he says he's going to play a lot of injustice 2, probably because of all the money sonic fox won from the previous NRS game. but chris ultimately goes where the people are and not the $$$. it's why he plays sfv even though he thinks the game sucks.

I think justin wong will balance both. But he stated that he wants to beat ryanlv and is already studying videos of his play.

Going off what he said on both Facebook and his twitter replies/explanations to people, he pretty much stated that Justin is able to donate $2000 for UMVC3 due to the amount of money he makes. He previously stated that he does not agree that people should be boasting about donating money because it may gain them a bigger following or fanfare.

I'm honestly not sure how else to take that besides KBR being salty and resentful, he does not seem to have the tact to think before saying something or what it may cause. He can say that he's just stating something via a simple FB comment, but why did it need to be stated in the first place? People love to jump to conclusions, but dude is not doing himself any favors when he already has a reputation of being a freeloader (which I can say I have seen first hand personally, not just via an online post), which is then worsened when you try to do a simple statement about another known player. That shit sticks with you, and he has no one else to blame but himself.

yeah, i'd love to see RF, cross, takumi, mamespider and abegen all do work again

there's a lot of unrecognized talent there that just have never been able to make it to the US, too

reaaaallly curious to see #24 in long set money matches vs folks
dude is no good in tournaments but it is kind of insane watching him go toe-to-toe/beating nemo and RF with his unbelievably bad team of iron man/ryu/thor
