Is he wrong? I don't think so. Regardless of your personal stance on whether you should or should not attach your name to a big donation the fact is, doing so paints you in a positive light. The fact that people don't recognize this is amazing. He did not badmouth Justin, what he stated is simply a matter of fact. Justin has the money and is willing to do it. It can also be considered an investment on himself.

I've seen the full conversation and him bringing it up makes sense considering the thread starter. Of course, it was conveniently left out of the picture. But hey, who cares about what's actually being said?

Not that I disagree with the fact KBR doesn't do himself favors but but hardly anyone actually bothers looking into it and takes sides immediately without putting some real thought into what's going on.

At the end of the day, this is a donation drive to help children. Who gives a shit if Wong gets some exposure for dropping cash on it? In fact, him doing so was a better option for the results since his name was attached to it. That shows the people on the outside that the community leaders are willing to support their game, and more importantly, donate to a good cause. That's a good look for everyone, and KBR is trying to pull into question Justin's intentions when it really doesn't matter.

Like, it's a donation drive for kids. The same thing wit hDaigo donation. There's no reason to deflate the actions that are helping those in need because the donator may or may not be doing this in benefit of themselves in addition to assisting others. That's just petty.

It's just childish to debate intentions and how some could profit from it when the real message should be about how others are helped by the cause.
 
Question is, will this "Goodbye forever and ever" be a better goodbye than last year's "Goodbye forever and ever."

Because it'd suck if the fairy tale exit it had last year got smeared with lameness this go round.

(suck being relative considering the large amount of money raised for charity)
 
I think ARMS has a lot of potential but there is no way of knowing if it's going to be the bee's knees or a disaster. Too much what if for me to truly want to see it win a slot. If it proves it's worth I think it has a great shot next year.

The community put Marvel on its back we love our game, we had no dev support it has been community driven for years and years.

MVCi is it's own game it is nothing like UMVC3.

It's fine being salty but don't fucking act like this was a sure fire lock for Marvel when it was not the community put in tons of work to get people donating.

Also, saying shit like drop Melee too is ignorant and disrespectful to the community.

Oh well Marvel is in so hold that shit.

I'm more of a causal fan of the FGC. I don't know any of the communities. I just like the spectacle. To me it seems really odd that there are two Smash games and I know they are totally different games and all that. Don't listen to me. I have no clue.

After not watching (or playing) marvel for like 2.5-3.5 years during the advent of Real Zero and TACs, I watched it for the first time this weekend (at Undefeated I think) and it was good shit, TACs notwithstanding. Glad to see it has kept evolving.

Though the funniest part have to be the commentary and close-up on players faces. The production values because it's such a dumb game bring it to another level. Taking the game too seriously definitely makes it suck because it's just plain dumb fun.

Good on the UMvC3 crowd. Some of yall are questionable but I don't doubt the excitement.

Vergil can be pretty cool when he's first on the team. Zero sucks though.

Like, Clockwork's team is Vergil/Doom/Strider, which sounds like a boring mishmash of top tiers - but it actually ends up being a really fun combination that he can do a lot of cool stuff with. Plus you can play the team in literally any order and it'll still work well. I like teams that can be rearranged like that.

I agree. Tradition isn't really a valid argument. Super Turbo at Evo used to be a tradition as well, but that was stripped away as soon as genre started producing multiple new games for evo to run.

But even if Pokken had won, it's not like that sentiment would go away. If anything it would be more outspoken because the spot was "stolen"

yeah there would have been a lot of outrage no matter how fair it was. Its unfortunate since the main argument you ever hear is "I found it boring @ evo" when the game has evolved since its initial year of people playing.

To do that, Nintendo would have had to let them play without motion controls to pass fair judgement on the game (at least at its pre-release state). As for Marvel, it's been at EVO every year since (I believe) 2002. It's tradition, why stop it now?

And Melee has every right to be at EVO. It was the 3rd biggest game in entrants (behind SFV & Smash 4) & the 2nd biggest game in viewership (behind SFV, counting ESPN) last year. On top of that, its overlap with Smash 4 is small (about 20%). Besides the concept of having 2 Smash games (even though they play pretty damn differently), I don't see the issue.

every other game needs to be good immediately. and a lot of times that's not enough.

Ah ok that makes more sense.

Just know people put in blood sweat and tears to support games like UMVC3 and Malee & why people still play them is because the core gameplay has a huge love and they are very different to anything else on the market.

It might seem strange that there are two "Smash" games in the lineup but they play completely different at high level. The core gameplay engines differ greatly in many many ways.

Fighting games are community driven end of the day in the "dark ages" when main stream stopped giving a shit about fighters it was the dedicated communities and rivalries that kept things alive and kicking.

I personally hate how this donation drive was handled rather than the WHOLE FGC work together MrWiz and the Cannon's pitted us against each other (again..) breaking hearts once again and causing more rife and hatred on all corners. Would have been better to unlock more slots via a full community donation drive.

The drive is over but I still feel for communities like KI, SkullGirls, & Pokken because end of the day we all have love for our games and want to see it on the "biggest" stage in the FGC.
 
Marve 3 had the perfect ending last year with Chris G winning and being the final EVO champion, the one thing he couldn't get. Now people wanna take that away from him.

ChrisG winning was the Cena beating The Rock moment for Mahvel. It's awful and we deserve a better ending.

We had no idea that MVCI was coming out or that UMVC3 would get a re-release on current gen systems. People also assumed that Marvel 3 would just be a staple at EVO no matter what (like it has been for the past few years) so it was weird to not see it in the regular lineup.

Chris G winning was cool, but I believe that Marvel 3 deserves one last chance considering this is its sendoff year before MVCI comes out.

There has always been a SF and Marvel game at EVO though.

EVO was kinda built on the foundation of the big fighting games at the time particularly Capcom games. ST, CVS2 and Marvel 2 were at the first ever EVO.

So there is always going to be natural bias towards those games. You KNOW if there's a new CvS on the way then people would want that game on EVO no matter how good/bad it is or how many entrants it has been getting over the year.
