I don't understand, one moment you're talking about the Grammys and then you start talking about talent.

Adele and Beyoncé crying looking at each other is the best Adele could have made that night into. Grammy academy fucked up and Adele had no problem spilling how much Beyoncé really accomplishes to her face and that Adele doesn't consider it her award. Really sweet and Adele wouldn't have been blamed for the fuck up by the Grammys, regardless of if she hadn't said anything, but she still chose to say how much Beyoncé and her album deserve respect while she stood on the stage.

Adele is fantastic so it's not crazy she won, and she seems like a big person for how she handled the night.
 
The Grammys love affair with Adele is not shocking but extremely dissapointing considering that Lemonade > 25 in so many ways.

I don't know what you're even talking about but Bey's performance was easily the most visually impressive no matter which way you want to look at it. Adele gets worshiped for rocking back and forth on the stage and having live meltdowns during her performances.
 
It seems like a trashy, lazy, "think we can get views?" move on the Grammy YouTube channel's part to upload silent videos of Beyoncé as she listens to Adele's ROTY and AOTY acceptance speeches. It kind of feels exploitative of her celebrity status and the fact that she lost, and it's also just weird to have two minutes of uninterrupted, unedited silent footage of someone. The footage is oddly voyeuristic.

I don't necessarily think it's "bad" or "wrong" or anything. They can do what they want. It just seems cheap to upload footage like that to tbe official YouTube channel.

I know they did it because Adele talked about Beyoncé, but... notlikethis.gif.
 
Adele deserved record and song of the year, but AOTY belonged to Beyonce. Oh well at least both of them went home with awards and Bowie won.

Did demi amd bieber win anything? I hope not?

It kind of is an issue to be pressed since a black person hasn't won Album of the Year in a decade now. But I am done with the Grammy's. I can't honestly believed I thought they would do the right thing.
 
It's not only because she is black and people of color "were owed" an award or anything but the fact that Self-Titled and Lemonade are some of the finest records in the last decade and a perfect combination of visuals + music yet they have been snubbed for other run of the mill and forgettable projects.

A mess at some of you thinking there should be quotas for awards... if the best abler wins the so be it.

I agree Lemonade was the better overall album, but the recording academy differed.
 
Even a cursory glance at meta critic could tell you that 25 did not deserve to win.

Lemonade is sitting on 92 from 33 critics, while Adull's 25 is sitting on a 75 from 35 critics.

I don't think that black people are owed one, but I think it's a problem when people of color are basically completely shut out because they don't sell enough copies, yet draw huge crowds for the Grammy's.

I did not say quotas, but there is a problem when black people can't win awards due to them not selling enough (Lemonade, To Pimp a Butterfly). It's also a problem when apparently they are not artistic enough (Beck's Morning Phase). It's also a problem when there is a year when one is not even nominated (2011).
 
25 will only be remembered because it sold shitloads. The fact the colective public and critics encourage a great talent like ADELE to be stagnant and release basically the same dull album is embarrasing.

That's what I'm saying. Listen, I get that "Queen" Adull or whatever released her new album after years of being inactive (musically speaking) But that shouldn't automatically earn her the win which is exactly what happened here.
 
It's hard to deny that Adele won over Beyonce because Grammy voters are out of touch. Not that winning or losing a Grammy should matter, but it's pretty obvious that Lemonade deserves the AOTY title.


Lemonade checks off every box in the "How To Be A Great Album" list. It's provocative yet vulnerable, lyrically deep but catchy as hell, politically charged yet still deeply personal. Throw in the visual art piece that ties it all together and you have one of the most important music projects in history. You can see its impact in music AND culture. Certainly more impact than what a Grammy Award can give you.
 
Theory: What if the grammy committee just doesn't favor giving AOTY to an album with a ton of writers and producers on it?

Just looking at the past AOTY winners this decade, Beyonce's albums have a significant number of chefs in the kitchen when compared to those that have won.

I guess in that regard, I can see why the level of artistry in 25 would be preferred to Lemonade.

I decided to relisten to Glory the other day, and it really is quite good. Apart from a couple songs whose production/editing don't work for me, it's a simple but great pop album. Britney and her team did a good job in 2016.

I thought it was a bad album honestly, but I have never listened to any of her songs besides the singles and Glory.
