Injustice 2 Roster Discussion & Speculation Thread

Even before Swamp Thing was revealed, this is what I was expecting from Ivy:

- Blows a kiss that makes the opponent do a trance walk forward
- Summons a Venus flytrap that bites if the opponent gets too close
- Summons a mushroom that releases spores if the opponent gets too close
- Secretes toxins from her body, doing dot damage
- A bunch of clever stuff involving poison

Swamp Thing is a big, lumbering, high damage grappler, and Poison Ivy would be a nimble zoner with lots of traps.

A poison/mind control character in Ivy is really appropriate and I'd be down for this so hard.

Ideally, I'd like for all DLC characters to be new additions and to have select veteran characters (even if they're mostly unchanged) be made available for free as a part of the compatibility patches that are released alongside paid DLC. Bit of a pipe dream, I know.

A bit? We're talking about Warner Bros. here, mate. :(

I don't want veteran characters taking up any of the 9 DLC characters that come with the Ultimate edition. Gimme new ones with a new game.

I'm fine with a separate classic bundle though. The best I could hope for in pricing would be a discounted bundle or a little less expensive than the new DLC.

With Swamp Thing in...it would be great to have Arcane be his counterpart villain.

latest

He would be creepy and feel very NRS. Imagine him growing tumorous body parts (kinda like how Nico from One Piece can create arms, but he can grow legs, eyeballs, teeth, organs, and much more from his body, the opponent's body, and the environment), having rotting flesh tendrils sprout outs, swarm the opponent in flies and open maws from the ground that'll chomp on the opponent.

EDIT: Can't forget about bone control, being able to spear the opponent with a sharp bone, trap them in a rib cage, grow bone armor for a special attack with invincible frames...

Boon's tweet about the character reveal last week had me expecting Firestorm, but man, does Swampy look fantastic. I love the wings, he's just missing the antlers; though I assume those are a possible equippable accessory. Injustice 2 is a huge upgrade over the first game; NRS have successfully recreated Swampy's powers and created an intimidatingly, brutal fighter. Every reveal pushes my anticipation for the next higher.

Option 1: We could do Arcane and have a really interesting and obscure character with a neat moveset.
Option 2: We could find another Batman character. I think Harvey Bullock is still available.

Option 2 is far more likely than option 1

It was good because people who never even read the comics were shitting on him so hard before his reveal, with Justice Friends and Robot Chicken gifs and how much of a loser he was.

His reveal shut most of them up.

I mained Aquaman in the first game. He was a beast with those trident combos. I'm eager to see how he has changed.

It'll never happen, but I would love to see a Wildstorm themed DLC pack. Have Midnighter, Zealot, and say Caitlin Fairchild as characters and Apollo as a premium skin for Superman.

You can keep Caitlin Fairchild, but I would totally love to see and Apollo and Midnighter premium skin or DLC.

I'd even suffer through Red Hood DLC if he gets a Grifter Premium Skin.

I have no real love for Caitlin, I was just trying to cover the big teams - WildCATS, Stormwatch/Authority, Gen13.

The only way I'd be happy about Red Hood is if he got a Grifter premium skin.

I'm only familiar with the New 52/DC You and Rebirth versions of Midnighter and Apollo, but man, I'd love to see Steve Orlando's Midnighter make the DLC roster. He has completely sold me on the character. A Wildstorm pack could create synergy between the launch of Warren Ellis' Wildstorm imprint.

There are so many characters that need to be in this game. I hope we see continued support and DLC beyond the initial 9 announced so far..

You should really read Warren Ellis' run on Stormwatch and the Authority (which is where they originated). Orlando's take is very much informed by their original appearances.

I've read Planetary, so do have some familiarity the Wildstorm universe, but I'll definitely check out Stormwatch and the Authority. I've been putting it off because of the art to be honest.

According to who?

Someone who talked to one of the producers, they said some legacy characters will get almost no changes, some small changes, and some big changes. I'll try and find it but the theory is that Bane/Flash/GL will see the changes.

Cyborg needs way more then just a new trait.
Especially when Blue Beetle is in the game and doing exactly the same thing, and just as poorly as Cyborg does it.

Yeah i guess thats true. My main problem with him in the first game was the trait. But as long as they keep his tackle i'll probably be okay.

What's weird about the leaked roster is that four of the five returning villains from the first game are Batman enemies. The only returning non-Batman villain is Black Adam... but Shazam isn't in the game.

Green Lantern's constructs could benefit from a little more creativity. Perhaps it was a limitation of the original engine, but I'd love to see more imagination implemented into his move list, if Green Lantern/Hal has been completely reworked. It'd be impressive to see unique animations and constructs for the John Stewart Premier Skin, given his architectural/construction background.

Cyborg more than anyone I think is in dire need of an entire moveset overhaul. I think Blue Beetle kind of confirms that he will in fact go through one. Unless, cyborg is just a premium skin for Blue Beetle! (I'm joking lol)

After some hands-on time with Blue Beetle, it's safe to assume Cyborg is going to be a "new" character. I'm expecting that he has been rebuilt from the ground up. Drawing on his New 52/Rebirth history and his new origin is probably the best means of making him more unique. Having access to a teleport, for example, could give him greater utility.

I loved his throw animation of him kicking the opponent through a brick wall. It looked brutal. I'll hate to see that go.

Some of his constructs were great, the throw is one of them. I just think NRS can afford to be a little more creative with a ring of near unlimited power. I guess though, the constructs that were used in the first game are somewhat characteristic of Hal.

Which is why I would've liked Kyle over Hal.

Swamp thing looks amazing, him and atrocitus are my two favorites visual wise so far.

Not super-familiar with Dr. Fate, but how similar are they?

Fate is definitely more of a sorcerer/zoner type character while constantine would be like a street brawler with cheap tricks.

Doctor Fate - slow and deliberate strikes with great force behind them, hand beams and hieroglyphic-themed magic (resembling pure light)

Constantine - a quicker character with barroom brawling, cigarette flick, magic circle/portal-based spells (of the fire and darkness variety)

They could easily coexist as unique fighters with vastly different aesthetics.
