I sometimes wonder if we've been too far removed from the events of our previous world wars to the point that people have forgotten the impact these issues had. Obviously there is no excuse to praise or worship scum like Hitler, Mussolini or Tojo and people should be taken to task for making light of them, but I think for many it would be easy to view these figures as somewhat like cartoonish super villains due to the amount of time that has passed and a large portion of the population with direct ties to the time these things happened are dead or dying.
It's always been pretty sad to me how many people completely ignore the history of our species.

If I recall he tried to remain silent, staying on the fence but eventually did espouse some GamerGate beliefs and finally back tracked and took it all back. But it just seemed like cowardice and flip flopping so he didn't lose viewers. TotalBiscuit was similar in that he refused to acknowledge GG for a long while to remain neutral and not lose viewers. Eventually came out he had some GG leanings.

What turned me off to H3H3 was when he used the n/f words quite a bit in a recent podcast with idubbbz. That and Pewds and Ethan were drawing swastikas on each other in a collab vid not too long ago.

Once again, not taking a side here. Just playing devil's advocate and pointing out a bit of hypocrisy. I don't follow PewDiePie, but from what I saw, he genuinely didn't mean any harm by this. Humor is subjective. There are a subset of people who for whatever reason do think racist jokes are intrinsically funny. I find them cringe-worthy, but as a comedy nerd, and an amateur comedian, I never like seeing someone lambasted for failing to be funny. Comedy is often about finding that line, and crossing it into uncomfortable areas. He probably should have eased off when he felt some resistance, but he is young and dumb, just as Disney was young and dumb.

However, as a Swede I have to point out that jokes about nazis/racists have probably been more frequent here than in most countries.
For a long time it was deemed ok to make these types of jokes, including the use of the n-word because people felt that we didn't really have a problem with racism. The feeling was that you could joke about it because everyone knew you had no problems with people of other backgrounds.
This still prevails to some extent today, in public by a lot of high profile comedians and in private by a lot of people. Especially when you consider that Pewdiepie is from a wealthy family it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine he hasn't been called out on this type of humor in private.
That said, as an adult you should know better than to make youtube videos about certain subjects.

That's not exactly right. Boogie was trying to be the "Gamergate isn't actually bad, guys" guy. And maybe he actually meant it, or maybe he wanted it to be a good thing. He seemed to think of Gamergate as a bunch of well-meaning people who were getting bullied by people who were assuming the worst of them. But he was clearly incapable of holding an actual conversation about the topic. He kept turning it into something about how upset he was and how he wanted to kill himself. It's not the first time he's talking about suicide, for the record.
I don't follow the guy so I really know him mostly from when he was banned from GAF, but I don't want to assume bad intent of someone who was obviously so unhealthy.
Now, Totalbiscuit. Totalbiscuit came out as a Gamergate so that he could retcon something he did earlier as proof of Gamergate's successes. Fuck that guy.

The Casey Neistat video comes across as naive and ignorant about the system, but the election video is reasonable for November 10th(when a lot of people still believed that Trump's platform was bullshit like 90% of the things that come out of his mouth), the triggered video is focused primarily on blasting people who got triggered by him calling out Joey Salads for being an opportunistic racist scumbag, and I'm genuinely confused how you can watch the Ken Bone video and interpret that as "b-both sides" or shitty.
None of that makes Ethan a piece of shit.

Hate is a powerful thing that spreads like wildfire when it catches on. Being pro-active and learning when to spot such hate is an important thing and history can be a very good guide in how it begins. People always forget that the first country to be invaded by things of this sort is not someone elses, but their own homeland.

I only saw the "death to all jews" video when it came out and it clearly showed him going through fiverr asking multiple people with either weird or stupid requests, and then showing what he got in return. That was the point of the video.

I watched a few of PewDiePie's videos and even if he didn't say all those shitty things (or make other people do it for money), he just comes across as an arrogant asshole in his videos. I don't know if he is always like that, but man its a turnoff compared to like, Markiplier who is always super humble and nice around people.
