NYT: Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contacts With Russian Intelligence

So here is where we stand.

1) Trump's former national security adviser, Gen. Flynn is a Russian asset and had illegal communication with Russia prior to the inauguration that was either approved by Trump or Trump turned a blind eye to.

2) The Trump administration knew about this all along and still allowed him access to highly sensitive material and intelligence.

3) Trump campaign staff had direct contact and coordination with Russian intelligence during the campaign leading directly to the DNC email hack among other things.

4) The FBI and CIA are running counter espionage operations against the White House because it is compromised at every level. The FBI has opened an official investigation into the administration.

5) The Russian dossier on Trump is 100% accurate and Trump himself is either a willing Russian asset or being blackmailed into being an asset.

6) Don't be surprised if an international incident or outright war with Iran happens soon to attempt to distract from the complete and total high treason of the Trump administration.

We have entered the Twilight Zone. The executive branch has been taken over by the Russians and the legislative branch can't find its own ass right now. If it wasn't for a strong and independent judiciary and a patriotic intelligence community American democracy would be dead in the water. The Trump administration from top to bottom are traitors. We were warned about this during the campaign but no one cared because "emails".

Trump and his posse must be removed from power and tried for treason.

I am seeing a recurring pattern

can you or someone please do this with every random Fox News tweet

I knew you were ridiculous..I somehow didn't think to this idiotic extent. Enjoy your vacay..

It's good to see that kind of reaction from a "I don't even really like Trump, but" person. I mean at least they are facing the reality of what's happening. I see so many more supporters still convinced this is nothing but liberals throwing a hissy fit because of losing. Maybe more will actually start to pay attention to what this man is doing to democracy.

FBI investigators believe that Michael Flynn was not entirely forthcoming during his interview on Russian talks
\

so lets say he is guilty, and they do charge him with a felony.

what is there to stop trump from just giving him a pardon?

Wait, the Dossier was 100% confirmed? I missed that.

Otherwise, yeah, this is accurate. Hope to hell that Sally Yates gets some level of respect for what she's done.

This is great news to wake up to. Even if this goes nowhere at the moment all of this will be used against Trump.

6) Don't be surprised if an international incident or outright war with Iran happens soon to attempt to distract from the complete and total high treason of the Trump administration.

Yeah, the Trump regime is probably thinking it needs a war or terror attack asap to take the pressure off.

One common refrain from high level guests on CNN and MSNBC is to expect more to come out.

God help us.

And I guess CNN is being awfully accommodating to the White House before releasing names?

I'm not sure if it's facing reality or if it's just a disingenuous way to sound more respectable.

Top story on Fox "Trusty pet squirrel foils burglary"

Wow it's been awhile since I visited their site but their coverage is straight up what I would have expected to see on drudge a few years back.

Looks like their site is now just as hyper-partisan as their news channel.

They're waiting for comment, at which point I think there being no comment is enough of a grace period. The names will be outed in the morning, I'm sure!

The beautiful part of this whole situation is once one piece of news comes out, more spouts from that leak. So once these names hit, who knows where those names will lead next.

They're just giving them more rope to hang themselves with. They want them to deny there's any others involved before dropping names.

Dossier hasn't been 100% confirmed but the easier to verify things such as meetings etc have more or less been confirmed. Piss tape and such are still in the unconfirmed realm.

i think a large part of the problem is that we have just come off of nearly a decade of The Party That Cried Wolf.

Can this please fucking lead somewhere? It's like Trump has an accountability warping field that somehow causes career-ending scandals to slide over and around him without disturbing so much as a fiber of his hair-esque topping.

Some folks are way too deep in the hole tho..

Grest post, thanks. Are there articles discussing the points I bolded?

Not being President.

riots

deep state

A shitstorm of epic proportions and complete hostility of the IC

That would just stoke the flames even more.

I suppose I just don't really understand how a pardon of him would cause any more issues then unconstitutional bans or him still having his hands in his business even though that is illegal.

I mean, sure it could add fuel to the fire, but at this point I highly doubt the flames of justice could burn any stronger. he has already given everyone more than enough reason to give it their all to take him down.

So apparently Flynn made 5 calls to his Russian contact that day. There is no way that was just a courtesy call on Flynn's own recognisance. He was ordered, or in the loop, to make those call, it was part of the plan. A bigger question though, if Trump & Co. are compromised and being blackmailed or just straight up working for V. Putin, why the hell would they be so damn dumb to call and say "hey yeah, we will ease the sanctions just chill", wouldn't that be expected and obvious?

This is so fucked, this whole situation. I am scared for our Democracy, now more than ever. If I were in Iran, I wouldn't be sleeping well either. I fear something big and dramatic is going to happen to subvert this fiasco, and that is terrifying.

That's part of what's so unbelievable about him being president. The buck has never, ever stopped with him, it's always passed on. That won't change now - fall guys galore. There's going to be a mass exodus from his administration as he shakes the responsibility off like fleas.

You ain't seen nothing yet if he pardons Flynn, mark my words.

They pissed off the press so much that CNN actually started becoming a hard-hitting news organization.

They pissed off the intelligence community so much there's a whacked out shadow information/misinformation war going in the White House.

When will they piss off the Dems so much that they grow a collective backbone

Some folks are way too deep in the hole tho..

The hardest part about getting a decent amount of Trump's base to turn on Trump is the self-reflection that they shouldn't have voted or supported him. Having to face yourself and realize that you may have morally wrong views or have committed morally wrong actions is really hard for a person to do. More so when older and you're more entrenched in your views which is a lot of the Republican base.

*nods* well that is good to hear. as I really can't imagine trump being smart enough to think about what a pardon would do.
if someone told him to pardon him I imagine he just would.

When will they piss off the Dems so much that they grow a collective backbone

never?
let's just hope that the whole situation raises enough awareness that people get out in vote in the future.

Honestly people who can't admit they are wrong no matter what are cowards.

Intelligence and criminal investigation experts during the campaign: "Come on, guys, if he had actually been working with Russia he wouldn't possibly have been stupid enough to publicly request that they hack the DNC."

Intelligence and criminal investigation experts two weeks after inauguration: "Okay he was probably just being literal."

I don't think any of us were prepared for just how fucking god-awful bad Trump is at hiding what a piece of shit he is. The natural assumption was that he couldn't be as bad as he looked because anyone with half a brain would have done a better job hiding their dirt. The harsh realization is that we overestimated him by believing that he had half a brain or any less dirt than was readily apparent.

When the nuclear-capable missiles are in the air!

But really, I think this will certainly be a start, maybe a single vertebrae, at minimum.

Jeff Sessions being involved in the investigation is fucking insane.

The Attorney Fucking General, the man responsible for upholding the law in this nation, is directly abusing said law by placing himself directly as the lead in an investigation in which he very likely is accountable in some fashion. Rachel put it best, that he is potentially in charge of investigating himself. Factor in Comey too...this could be a real struggle.

I mean this is like a season of 24 but without Bauer to clean shit up.
