That's always been the goal though at some level. Don't forget, this is a man who said he would not accept our entire system unless he won. He was literally getting his people to riot, and when shit does come out we'll have a government that doesn't want to act and people that will actively become violent. Again, another wonderful reason to give the mentally hurt guns.

My guess is that they didn't collide beforehand, Russia was mining this info Eleuthera way, but that they knew about the breach from their contacts, and gladly accepted the assist when Wikileaks got the material.

And considering the latest news applies to the Trump campaign at senior levels pre-election, the net is tightening over a small, close-knit group of people and associates.

So I don't understand the defeatism in some of these posts. The country is waking up and making their voices heard. Trump's Muslim ban has been halted. The Obamacare repeal is unraveling. Republican silence with the latest onslaught of stories is deafening. There seems to be an effort to distance Pence from Trump's coterie of Grima Wormtongues. There is now open revolt between the deep government, law enforcement and the intelligence community against the White House.

The oval office is in chaos and you better believe they're all lawyering up as they're the targets in multiple counter-intelligence investigations, and dirty laundry is being unleashed on the media through seemingly carefully timed leaks daily.

We're in uncharted waters right now, and the usual deflections from mouthpieces with no credibility is already seeing very diminishing returns. They've expended their bullshit capital, even if they don't realize it, and the press takes mere minutes to point out their lies.

If all the dots connect in the ways they appear to, this administration will go down. But if it doesn't come crashing down tomorrow, or next week or next month, don't despair. There is a resistance, and its found in the U.S. public even if Dems are slow to the punch. Regardless, Trump is being watched like a hawk, and he doesn't have nearly the freedom of action he did on day one.
 
Obama really had his hands tied. If he had come out against Trump and began investigations, arresting people etc. it is very likely you would have had an armed conflict erupt in the United States.

Obama put his faith in the system and its up to Americans to make sure the system does not fail

but basically with how low we have fallen, it's just hard to believe that anything will amount from this. I want to believe, but I also don't want to set myself up for disappointment again.

we heard that pussygate would end trump, it didn't.
we heard that trump couldn't become president, he did.
we were told that things can't get that bad that fast, they did.
so when you hear there is a chance that this might end, it just is hard to believe for a lot of people.

as it stands this sounds promising, but right now it isn't a sure thing.

Clinton also had knowledge of this presumably? Aren't nominee's briefed on intelligence reports?

Those posts just dot these threads allot and it's for everything no matter what is leaked. No matter that this stuff takes time. No matter that we have people fighting to make this happen.

These posters just come in and drop a robotic defeatist line.

It's far easier to give up and try to normalize everything then continue to fight.
it's easier after watching so many things fail to take down trump, to not believe in the next thing.

I am not saying it's helpful for them to have such ideals, but at the same time, I can't blame anyone who thinks that this won't amount to anything.

I mean, it's so obvious that these people are corrupt, it's not a wonder people question why it is taking so long.

that being said, I am at least personally trying to educate myself, and keep people around me informed. But things aren't really black and white. it's not wrong to be excited for this news, nor is it wrong to think that this might not amount to anything. *shrugs*

ideally this will happen fairly quickly though. I mean the idea that we are sitting in here rooting for our government to basically be filled with people working with the Russians... that is just crazy when you think about it, and really depressing that we are at this state at all.

I don't understand listing a bunch of impossible things that ended up happening and then insisting a seemingly impossible thing won't happen.

Your takeaway from November should have been "anything can happen" not "nothing good will ever happen again". Key elements of our government have made it very clear they either oppose this administration or their ranks are splintered and many of them do.
 
One of the best things about being British at the moment is going to sleep about 6pm EST every day and waking up to new revelations. It's like Christmas morning every day.

in fact I said, it's not surprising it can be hard to believe it could happen, and that while this seems promising, it's not a sure thing.

Eh...it's not easier to give up and accept a racist and corrupt administration. We also aren't rooting for our government to have been infiltrated by Russians. We're rooting for those have allowed our government to be corrupted by Russians to GTFO.

Russia is taking provocative actions and the US leadership is missing in action. The military and intelligence community don't know what our policy is.

As someone who has completely avoided hyperbole about Trump (except with regards to his reckless provocations of China during the transition), I don't think anyone should underestimate the potential scale of this controversy.

Stability needs to be restored and quickly. Trump's credibility looks terribly compromised. I can imagine the extreme conversations that are being had in conservative DC right now.

It's not surprising my posts are rubbing you the wrong way, it's partially by design. I am not trying to post pleasant thoughts.

And sure for you it's not easier to merely give up. For most of the people in my life they find the embrace of ignorance far more enjoyable and easier then attempting to continue caring and living their lives in constant depression over our current situation.

And i mean for the Russians thing, it's really just a matter of wording. I mean logically those who have allowed our government to be corrupted by the Russians, are working with the Russians. I mean we aren't happy about it, it's merely a way to get rid of those making the country worse, but the truth is to some degree we are actively hoping that these reports are accurate which would mean we are hoping that we have people working with the Russians.

I should note, I hope we don't let up. that everyone keeps up the fight. the main reason I stopped my plans to change countries was because it became clear it was a better choice to stay in america and work towards making it a better place again.

Your post is defeatist, as those in power want you to normalize the abuse and bullshit. This administration depends upon a populous enervated, to let despair blind them from the absurdity.

Please be aware that the best way to let these shady people win is to be apathetic. This is how every attack on the public in America for the last 35+ years has been absorbed and taken as a norm. Do not let the risk of another government colluding in our election be yet another sickening bullet point to the shit list.

*Sighs* I am not being defeatist myself, I am saying I can empathize with those that are in the defeatist camp.

I refuse to let this situation ever be normal.
I refuse to stop caring about what is going on in this country.
to the annoyance of my friends I refuse to let them live in ignorance to the major events that are going on.

trust me, I would rather be a defeatist, I vastly preferred the time when I was ignorant of politics, but the situation won't let me be. This is not a fight we can ignore, nor is a battle we can lose hope for. I also just don't get high hopes on any single situation. I try to keep a calm and level mind in any situation and look at things from both sides.

I never said I was trying to spread that embrace of ignorance (in fact I do the opposite in my life). and yeah... being unpleasant by design does help some. I am not going to sit in a chamber and merely listen to the echos and agree. I am going to bring my own thoughts to something and try to fully grasp everything that is going on even if it ends up rubbing some people the wrong way.

as for the statement "everyone knows russia has corrupted our government." is just a lie. We have strong suspicions, and it seems likely, but we are lacking proof. Last I checked our country was based an the idea of innocent until proven guilty. We have tons of signs but we don't have any definite proof yet. I hope we get there and we should, but completely dismissing the very small chance that they could be innocent goes against what our nation stands for. Beyond that, not trying to understand how others feel about a situation, just spreads an information breakdown. If someone currently feels defeated, labeling them and dismissing them isn't going to change anything. You actually have to take the time to understand why they feel that way, and help them see why there is still hope.

We can however easily agree that our current government is corrupt. as there is in fact plenty of proof of that.
 
Defeatism exists because of our history, it's not what we should do but it's part of america and it's people. We were literally raised to do that, we aren't supposed to matter. If anything I'd say we are doing pretty good as a whole, these protests and people yelling is louder and bigger than we've ever really done. I have that defeatism when it comes to trusting the people in our government, but I believe in our people. We just have to never stop, and keep raising the stakes until the people who "represent" us do their fucking jobs or quit.
 
It will be interesting to see how this proceeds, on the one hand I suspect the GOP will pressure Trump and the administration to distance themselves from Pence to try and insulate him, but on the other, Russia could be leaning on Trump to do the opposite.
