Not necessarily. Some are neat challenges themselves.

Bullshit.

Many games have great achievements/unlocks for completing challenges within the game itself, Nintendo ones in particular. Making them system wide adds nothing
but dick measuring.

They type of achievements that i Like were Sakurais.

Kirby Air Ride and Smash were addicting to me because you also got unlockables, even if they were small. Plus some of those were actually hard.

I can't watch the video right now, and this is probably a silly question, but can someone tell me if Kirby is shown to be a user icon?
No he's not. But, there is a "More Options" button below the icons that the person in the video doesn't push, so maybe?

Also, I'm extremely glad to see an RGB range option!

You're practically saying "I don't like it, I don't want other people to have it." Lame.

Do we owe Nintendo any benefit of doubt after everything that's transpired so far about the Switch?

Considering Nintendo has taken many unexpected decisions with every aspect of this console, it has nothing to do with giving them the "benefit of the doubt" and everything to do with we how many assumptions are useless at this point.

Making a great game is a great way to keep people engaged in a system. All achievements do are create a psychological addiction and way to keep you locked in and devoted to an ecosystem.

This. Good game design with rewarding gameplay should be the achievements itself.

I don't want achievent system, but if there is one I don't mind. Some people will be happy, I can turn it off. Mynintendo might make thing little different though so I will see if that will make difference.

The thing is that mynintendo DOES have an "achievement" system that they are using. Missions. You complete missions to collect coins, which can be used to get discounts, themes, games, etc.

What people are really upset about is the lack of something to measure d*** size with "friends". I guess we still don't have that, so the pissing contests might not be coming quite yet. damn.

In all seriousness though, it is a tad bit disappointing, since people have definitely been asking for that feature from Nintendo for years.

I honestly don't know a better way for Nintendo to do it than what they have, though. The "gamerscore" thing is a bit toxic but having some trophies where you can compare with people on your friends list would be cool.
I like you. Achievements are meaningless.

it's......beautiful

black theme best theme (dark theme GAF represent)

and the sound design is so good

2 weeks never felt so far away

Its so weird that we are two weeks away and we need a leak to show us basic features of the console

but i guess thats Nintendo.

If it was an oled screen I'd agree but being IPS I prefer the white one.

Oh man I wish they had gone for an oled display. Surely a 720p one wouldn't have cost much more than the displays they used.

Samsung would have probably cut them a nice little deal.....

And many don't.

I don't understand defending the lack of a feature that has been standard for two generations (if it is indeed lacking it).

I appreciated the Wii U's operating system for its simplicity and lack of ads, especially once we got three or four updates in and Nintendo fixed the speed issues.

Well it's weird, I found the Wii U's Home Menu to be slowed down tremendously by a huge ad covering one of the screens.

OLED screens for small devices are going to be in very short supply soon if iPhone rumors are to be believed

Oh, that's really surprising. I guess I'll have to see what other characters are there. Thanks!

Just curious: why are you excited for RGB range options? I've seen others express excitement at that, too, so I know you're not alone. I don't know much about this subject, so my question comes from a place of ignorance.

I love the UI, thank god for black theme.

All the positive reaction of the Neon has made me doubt, but I still prefer the grey one. I plan on buying a set of same-color JoyCons in the future to have a more lively option. Note sure if red or blue yet.

This is a good post.

Having great achievements is part of making a great game. A game itself can be a psychological addiction. If you are afraid of that you should never play a fun or engaging game ever again.
The addiction of achievements hits when you play bad games solely for achievements.

Or if you ignore good games because you got all of the achievements already or because they're on a system that doesn't have your chosen achievements or any achievements at all.

What I'm saying is if the sole reason to play any games is because of a score or level at the system level, then that's a little crazy.

You're practically saying "I don't like it, I don't want other people to have it." Lame.

No, that's not what he's saying.

Lots of developers put in easy trophies and don't tie them with any actual in game rewards or unlocks or collectibles to actually increase play time. Like. If I collect all of the level collectibles in a Yoshi game, I get another world, then more levels beyond that if I finish all of those. I'm still spending more time on the basic levels, but there's an actual sense of achievement when you go through the trouble to 100% the levels to get more, new content. Most trophies and achievements don't do this, they get you to replay it to get trophies, and offer some unique challenges, but in game achievements are just as valuable, they just don't allow you to compare d*** size with your "friends" because they aren't made public.

Still, hopefully they make that available on your mynintendo account at some point, because having the option is better than not.

Is it confirmed if the eShop wallet transfer is one time only (like you send the funds to switch and can't access them on Wii U again) or permanently available across each system?

How do you know?

no confirmation, but considering it's still under "eShop" banner, the funds should be shared across the 3 consoles, unlike the previous dsi/wii where the shop channel isn't eShop

So what? Does somebody force you to chase the bad achievements?

Gamexplain has released a video talking about the video but not showing the video because they're afraid of Nintendo.

lol

So what? How many cases are there? Is it anyhow relevant for this discussion?
You can't support achievements and when someone tells you a good reason why their addiction is a negative thing and call it not relevant to the discussion. It makes me want to stop talking to you. Good day, sir/mam.
