People definitely care about these things on a device that looks to all the world and functions otherwise like a tablet.People outside the bubble don't give a shit about any of those things on a video game console.

Not sure why anyone would expect anything better. No device does well under the sun. None of their past handhelds, not mobile phones/tablets, nothing. Unless it's got an e-ink display, which was never an option.
If joycons aren't syncing everyone should be cancelling their preorders ASAP and waiting for fixed units. Wow. We have another Galaxy Note 7 on our hands?
does this hasty release means that the switch might get hacked fast ?
I love Nintendo, but some of you are going absolutely insane with the defense force here. It's one thing to correct mis-information, but it's another to argue about whether or not the Switch is worth buying on day one.
Discussion is one thing, arguing is another. If you want Switch on day one, then don't berate someone who wants to hold off. Likewise, if you don't want it on day one don't be a dick to people that do.
Like... let's just talk about games and discuss things instead of fighting.
I was never going to change my mind when it comes to getting the Switch, but I'm super happy to see that the hardware seems to deliver. Software can and will change but messing up the tech that the software will run on is how you get another Wii-U.

Jason and Emily are big fans of Nintendo, but they are also honest. I'm sure the core fans aren't bothered by any of this news. but Ninty needs to sell this thing to people outside of that bubble too, doesn't seem like a good start.
ofcourse not lol
Netflix said themselves they don't have an app at launch.Pretty sure they can't say there are no video apps/netflix/youtube until the update servers are up, they have updated, and can access the eshop...
Why do people care about the activity log?
I'm sorry but this is bullshit. No one should expect an activity log day one? Really?Activity log and Virtual console are features no one should expect/care about day one. Just because it doesn't have that stuff yet doesn't make it a half baked console.
So instead of launching a great console with lots of features then adding more over time, they're launching a barebones device then adding the basics over time. Wow, this sounds like a great deal for consumers.
Everything about the Switch just screams wait for 2019. I had one preordered to rent Zelda then sell off after during the launch shortage period, but even that didn't seem worth the effort for one game with so much else out.

"No Miiverse" is the strangest complaint I thought anyone would have.
That's a dishonest comparison, really. Microsoft crippled their console in order to launch with a Kinect pack in and their first reveal focused on stuff like a 200m dollar NFL deal, but the PS4 still released with a web browser, video apps, bluray playback, etc, and it was the best bang for the buck as a gaming console (more powerful and cheaper). But when Sony announced the PS4, the general census was that it was a true gaming machine. Xbox One was too focused on TV and NFL Network integration, and not enough about games.
Have the tides changed in 4 years?

Apps will be added soon enough. (Probably before E3) but it's a non-issue. Buy a console to play video games primarily, go buy a shitty tablet if you love Netflix so much. (Or better yet, go watch Netflix in your 3DS, since you love Netflix on game consoles so much)
Dude is straight up clickbaiting his tweets so people go read his review.
See the thing is, you have no idea. Technically, neither do I, but it makes more sense to to me to say it's rushed than to say they are deliberately hamstringing the thing out the gate. It's already a pretty bad lineup outside of a few games. Either way it looks bad. Your way...it looks stupid/sinister.
Alright buddy, see you in 2019.So instead of launching a great console with lots of features then adding more over time, they're launching a barebones device then adding the basics over time. Wow, this sounds like a great deal for consumers.

Surprised at all the complaints about the console being barebones. I thought people missed the times when you can just turn on your console and play a game? Switch is doing exactly that as best it can and the other stuff will come later. I'm glad there's not streetpass, miiverse or video apps. My phone is a better tool for that, and I can appreciate the switches plug and play mentality.
The joy-con issue is the most concerning thing for me at this point, but it doesn't seem to be widespread

I was told that exact thing straight from a rep's mouth.Remember when everyone thought the Switch would be released Holiday of last year? Can't imagine what it would look like if it did.
The idea that this is a soft-launch of the Switch and the "real" launch is Holiday 2017 is seeming more and more likely.
That's silly. Frontloading means a lot of stuff gets buried. I'm talking about VC here. They want to put the emphasis on the publishers who have made the effort to launch with Switch. VC at launch means people spend less money on those other games.
The browser/app thing is likely a security issue; wanting to see how the OS holds up in real life before saddling it with a big security/piracy risk like adding a browser.
That's all just common sense, nothing sinister about it.
Took a hot second, but it does indeed!

I've owned a 3DS since March 2011. Have never used the activity log once. Same on the Wii U.I'm sorry but this is bullshit. No one should expect an activity log day one? Really?
That's just part of usual testing for mobile devices. For what it's worth, it's bright enough under the sun that you still have enough visibility. Who's gonna play a console while being cooked under the sun anyway? lol

Hardcore Nintendo fan here. I'm extremely worried about it. I also have faith that they'll get that all in and working. Whether or not that's miguided faith on my part remains to be seen.
I'm still waiting on word for the most important feature of all, Where is Badge Arcade?
So no signs of an achievement/trophy type system?

You may want to sit down for this... not everyone in the world is you. Crazy concept, I know.I've owned a 3DS since March 2011. Have never used the activity log once. Same on the Wii U.

Did we ever get confirmation of no achievement/ trophy system? I was holding out hope :*(
Try playing an intensive game on your phone. Go on, let me know how that goes.
The unfortunate reality is that a higher resolution screen would kill the battery. Enjoy 45 minutes of Zelda before you have to hug a wall.
I'm sorry what?
Yes they give a shit about it. Netflix/Youtube are huge in the portable business and the Switch is in that business.
There is a fine line between what us fans want from a launch (personally i'm 100% ok with not having any features, I really just want Zelda) and what the average consumer expects. No web browser is the one that would probably sting the most.
I haven't seen anything about that for the moment. Maybe with the day one update, once we are able to connect the games to a My Nintendo account, it will be revealed, though ?
MyNintendo will be that kind of system. So no signs of an achievement/trophy type system?
