Nintendo Switch Previews are coming in

Hype.

Horizon, Zelda AND Nier is completely ridiculous...

Yea, had to hold off on Horizon for now. 2 games is fine, but 3 games would just be dumb, no way could I effectively balance playing all 3.
And if I had to beat all 3 before Persona, jfc...

Both Horizon and Nier will probably go down in price way quicker than Zelda, so I'm good with waiting for those.

I want Nier ASAP as well, so no way am I waiting. It'll be interesting going back and forth from Zelda to the presumably far darker Nier.

Fuck I forgot about Nier. And Yakuza 0 and Nioh just came out along with Horizon, plus Persona 5 in a month
It's so crazy that so many games that all kind of overlap the same two niches are out at the same time, and they all have the same crazy high level of quality and even a soul (crossing my fingers for Nier here). I mean I guess Zelda isn't in a niche but still, So many quality games in the span of little over a month. Madness.

I 100% didn't say what's MORE important is subjective. I said the concept of a "real issue" is subjective. Quit reading into things that aren't being said.
A controller randomly unsyncing from a system is a real issue. There is nothing subjective to it. The only reason someone would say it isn't is because they're a contrarian. The thing that you use to control the device is functionally not working.

That's like saying the steering wheel on your car not turning is only an issue subjectively. It's not. You literally wouldn't be able to drive your car without it, like you cant control the system without your controller.

The lack of a web browser might suck, but that is the only thing out of the two that is subjectively an issue. You don't need a web browser to run a video game system, and you almost certainly have something that already browses the web on you most, if not all of the time.

But we know Nintendo makes great software. It's the last few generations of hardware that have been a little bit iffy. DF and other outlets praising the Switch hardware is a great sign.

Eh, the innards are naturally a step up but the rest of the hardware design on the switch is ass. There is no way I'm taking my switch out of the house over my New 3ds in its current form. The new joycons are really the only reason I want a switch at all.

Oh ok. Also do we know if the app will launch day 1?

We know definitively that it's not, but online play will be there on day one for Bomberman. The app is launching in a beta form during the summer, presumably to tie-in with Splatoon 2, the entire online service exits it's beta period in the fall, at which point we'll need to begin paying for it.

Just Dance and Fast RMX also use online.

Alright so Gamestop is running a +50% trade in bonus towards Nintendo Switch games and accessories, so does that mean I can talk about how effectively games are 30 dollars and the Pro Controller is 35 dollars?
You're confusing a 50% trade bonus with 50% off.

Welp.. With these previews and last minute info from Nintendo about no BT positive pre-orders are becoming available again.

How are all of these people satisfied with getting Zelda on the Wii U, when Nintendo looks to have created one of the most elegant, well made and critically praised pieces of hardware in decades?

Like, I'd be crying into my keyboard as I typed, "yep, good thing I got a Wii U."

it's 50% trade in value bonus on games. If a game is worth 10 dollars credit for gamestop, that means it'll be worth 15 dollars credit towards the Switch and all things related to it.

So the last Nintendo console I had was the Gamecube.

Missed out on a lot of good titles on the Wii and WiiU.

What are you guys thoughts' on how well Nintendo will do digital backwards compat. with those platforms on the Switch?

Like, I'd be crying into my keyboard as I typed, "yep, at least I got a Wii U."

They don't care for the handheld aspect, nor do the launch games appeal to them outside of Zelda.

What?

It's the same game. Also, money and all that.

Which is funny, because apart from the joy-con thing (which is probably a simple fix via patch) - all the reasons people are whining are ridiculous reasons to cancel a pre-order.

When did people start caring more about these things than the games? "Yeah not buying one because I can't see how long I'm playing my game" - I mean what the fuck? Seriously?

Hey.... Not sure if this was brought up already but apparently the JoyCon charge when attached! Doesn't matter if the console is docked, undocked and charging, or just undocked without charging. They'll only stop charging if they're fully powered up or if the console's battery gets too low.

joycons last 20 hrs, why would I want it sapping juice from the Switch when undocked at all?

Good catch, I don't know why more people aren't talking about this. I remember this was speculated on a few weeks back, but this would appear to confirm it! That's perfect for me since mine will likely be plugged in in handheld mode most of the time.

I'm a bit surprised they aren't letting press update their Switch's software to the latest version for these previews of the UI. I feel like any little quirks or issues are most likely fixed and perhaps issues with the Joycon connectivity might even be resolved already unless it is a limited hardware issue. One week to go!

They most likely will let them update prior to the review embargo on March 1st. Today is just the day they can start posting previews/impressions.

It didn't sound like it from any of the times Nintendo has talked about it, but it's not required to play games online until the paywall is switched on later in the year.

The app isn't required to play games online period. Just apparently for party chat.

I see. Thank you for the info :)

What? O.o

... I don't know man, you tell me.

Horizon, Zelda AND Nier is completely ridiculous...
It really is. I'm going Zelda, Nier, then Horizon. Mostly because I know Horizon is long, and from what I've seen in the Nier thread it's a shorter game, like 7 or 8 hours.
... I don't know man, you tell me.
Outside of money concerns, I don't get it either. If you're definitely going to get a Switch but you're waiting until Mario comes out or whatever, why not just get it now to play the superior Zelda experience? Why wait if money isn't an issue?

Unsure. A few of the bigger games on Wii got digital releases on Wii U, but the Wii U was natively backwards compatible, so that may have made the port job easier. They'll probably release enhanced ports (MK8 Deluxe) and sequels (Splatoon 2) to the big games on those platforms, along with a sprinkling of some of the more popular titles available digitally

To be fair... I don't either... but the urge to not buy a Switch is higher lol

Well if you haven't preordered one it's going to be a hell of a hassle to get one anytime soon anyways. Still, unless you're strapped for cash, if you want to play Mario, Splatoon, or any future Nintendo first party games it's an inevitability. Why not spend the extra to play what seems like one of the best games the year in the best possible light?
