Nintendo Switch Previews are coming in

Well, it's a no-brainer if you don't mind spending $400+ to play a Zelda game. I don't know if there will be another Switch game I want to play.
 
Forgive me, but I haven't seen it anywhere:

Any word on how the Sleep functionality works?

I know that with Vita and 3DS, I was always able to put the system to sleep and it would hang out just fine without charging for hours or days, then I could just pick up and resume right where I slept.

Does it look like that'll be possible with the Switch?

I imagine it'll work the same, I don't think the system is constantly looking running it's wireless like the 3DS, so if anything, I imagine it'll last significantly longer.

It was confirmed that when the battery gets very low, the system will save all your data and forcibly enter sleep mode; which is very handy!

That's good! My job sometimes has me all over the place, and now and again I'll get stuck somewhere for hours. I didn't know how well the system would hold up if I brought it along as a contingency.

What I want to know is why do people think the Wii U is getting the E3 2016 demo? Surely they have been able to optimize it more in the past few months?

So far it does! Ars Techinica stated in their preview that they put the Switch into "sleep" mode at 100% battery. 8 hours later it had only drained to 98%! If nothing else that beats the pants off of the 3DS.

The only catch is that they didn't confirm whether or not they had a game running when they did that.

I don't know what region you're in, but I won't have to spend that at least in the US.

And if you're willing to spend to get a Wii U and Zelda, you're nearly at Switch + Zelda Prices already.

However, if you literally think that Zelda is the only game you'll ever want to play on the Switch, then of course it would be a bad purchase. I'm not sure who that person is, but if they exist, then I'd say Nintendo consoles probably aren't them.

They already have a video playing 1-2 Switch for a full hour, and that was just one round of the team-mode. They'll be fine.
 
For some reason, I was able to pre-order the Switch on Amazon, but I didn't bother to pre-order BotW... And it appears the physical copies are sold out everywhere. Guess I'll have to go digital. :(

Well, I don't remember my preorder price, but with the accessories it's about there.

As far as games, nothing else that's been announced really does it for me. Never been a Mario Kart person and the Mario Odyssey game gives me Sonic hives. Mario Maker was the closest thing that got me to purchase a Wii U, but a port hasn't even been announced. So yeah, for me Zelda is the only reason I'm buying this. Based on the Wii U, I'm not going to assume there will be a rich library of games waiting for me 2-3 years down the road.

Most of the games on the list will get played for 10-15 minutes seeing as they are ports of games available elsewhere and they'll likely spend a bit more time on Zelda and 1,2,Switch.

I mean, even the Wii-U had games like Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, Darksiders, Mass Effect, Batman, FIFA, NBA, all that kind of stuff. I guess we'll see come March.

2% after 8 hours of sleep would be very respectable if true!

They streamed a ton of 1,2 Switch and can probably do more with that. They can play Zelda for hours and no one's going to complain. Who cares if the games are ports of other stuff. They'll still probably check some of them out to see how they perform. I'm not seeing the argument for why it'll be a short stream. They'll make it work.

But I guess the real hot take you're going for here is: "LOLLLL WEAK ASS LAUNCH LINEUP." Which has been the case for every launch. But GB's done more with much less.

Outside of money concerns, I don't get it either. If you're definitely going to get a Switch but you're waiting until Mario comes out or whatever, why not just get it now to play the superior Zelda experience? Why wait if money isn't an issue?

The visuals don't mean all that much to me so the big advantage as far as i'm concerned is the split controller. I'm not taking the switch out of the house so the portability is a non-factor as well. The Wii U has miiverse and an easy access web browser and on a less important note it completes my Wii U collection. Playing on the switch would also demand an HDMI slot as well and right now I have 4 consoles making a better argument for those slots. That's enough for me to skip the version especially since I'm not a fan of the Switch's design and I'd prefer to wait for a revision.

Yeah I get you, for sure. But I think the fact it's so similar to an old android design paradigm is a good indicator that it's not android. Even if it's nearly identical.
 
I saw the battery life of the switch on BotW was 2.5 hours. is that normal? my perception even though I bought it.. is that there are a lot of challenges.. Nintendo definitely does not have the wind at their back with the Switch.
