Nintendo France: Switch does not support Bluetooth headsets/headphones

So if your tv can't output Bluetooth you basically can't use headphones when the switch is in the TV?

You might be able to use a Bluetooth adapter either through the Aux port on the top of the Switch or the Aux port on your TV (if it has one).

I'm charging my adapter up right now to test it out on my TV through my LG Tones.

Why is there a cable going from the controller to the console? Technically you don't need to charge the console and your smart phone, while you play. So if you want to play with your headphones, you need only the cable of the headphone.

It's probably fixable with an update. Switch has a bluetooth chip. In fact, I am pretty sure that joycons work through bluetooth.

Afaik every Nintendo controller since the Wii uses bluetooth to connect wirelessly.

PS4 has a Bluetooth chip in it also, and its controllers are bluetooth. So that isnt a sign that it may eventually come

I keep finding myself "oh for fuck's sake" when I see another one of these threads. Come on, Nintendo. I hope it's supported soon. I feel like I am paying $300 to enter a beta right now.

The key difference being that Sony (and MS) at least offers an alternative with the DS4/XB1 Controller having a Aux ports on them.

Is it ideal, no, since you still need a pair of wired headphones, but it's a lot better then what Nintendo is currently offering.

For me to get my Bluetooth headphones to work with the Switch, I'm going to need to spend another $40 to get a Bluetooth transmitter since the Bluetooth device I have is just a receiver (and won't pair up to my headphones).

All because Nintendo couldn't stick a feature in that every portable device made within the last 7 years supports. Hell, I just paired my headphones up to my girlfriends iPad (the original model that came out in 2010, and guess what, they worked perfectly fine).

This is disappointing. I have a nice set of bluetooth headphones that I use with my phone and I would have loved to use them with my Switch.

I hope they fix it fast.

On the commercial they show a guy using headphones..

"Remember a few days ago we did an interview with Koizumi about the Switch's audio and video , in which we said it was possible to connect a Bluetooth headset to the Nintendo Switch. Simplicity of translation or even misunderstanding on our part, Nintendo has come back on this subject to inform us that finally, it will be impossible to connect headsets using Bluetooth ..." -melty.fr

My guess you have to many devices already using the bluetooth on the device. Those two joycons and all the data for that hd vib must suck up bandwidth.

From what I have read, the PS4 does technically support bluetooth headsets but with very shitty limitations: the headset must support bluetooth 4.0, and only bluetooth 4.0, and it does not support A2DP.

This means it basically only works with el cheapo mobile bluetooth chat headsets but won't work with nicer bluetooth headsets designed for music or media.

I've never tried it though.

When I found out my 4k samsung was able to output bluetooth audio, my mind was blown. No dongles.

Haha mine too!
4K Sony here and I found out by accident, it's been super handy a few times since then.

Oh shit, just realized my new lg oled TV has bluetooth headphone support.

... but only lg branded ones. fml

Dat LG walled garden.
Literally never seen a pair of LG headphones before :lol

Is it confirmed? If yes, that is a bummer. I mean, I'm not going to cancel my pre-order, just a week from now, but man... I dislike this.

I already don't like using cords with my n3ds, now even the switch? :|

No bluetooth support (at launch) is seriously disappointing. I haven't used wired headphones for years now.

Thankfully that's not the case anymore for last year's LG TV's. Those support all kinds of headphones from other manufacturers. At least the LG OLED TVs.

I can't use my AirPods??? That is annoying

So this is the most disappointing Switch news of recent. My AirPods are always going to be at the ready for me, I don't want to carry a wired set bc this device is apparently unable to deliver basic features for devices in 2017.
