PS4 System Software Update 4.50 Features Detailed

^^^ Also, the 3D Bluray visuals are a LOT brighter with PSVR compared to 3DTVs because you aren't wearing shades. This alone greatly adds to the experience (along with the option for an IMAX sized mega screen, lol).

Yep. I think if you repeat the process you get the new update, but it's really not worth the hassle.

I never deleted the burner account from my PS4. By logging into it, I was alerted that the version 4 of the Beta was available. Downloading now (340MBs).

Yes. The image is a little soft, but the 3D is great. Nice and natural with no cross-talk and no flicker.

Cool. I've accumulated so many 3D Blu-rays over the years but never had a 3D TV. It'll be great to finally be able to watch these.

What's stopping them from adding 3D support for PS4 games?

Thinking about it, technically nothing, I suppose. It would take a bit of reworking though, because 3D games output at 720p/60 (limited by 3DTV/HDMI standards) which is going to look shit in the headset. They'd need to implement some sort of upscaling to 1080p/60 or even 1080p/120 to make it look half decent.

I am getting occasional stuttering in Yakuza 0 when playing from an external SSD (internal Samsung in a drive enclosure). I can't work out whether it is the enclosure playing up, or the drive is streaming data to the PS4 too quickly and it can't keep up.

I actually posted a thread about this last week: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1343787&highlight=

And, a bit off topic, but I hope this is a stealth addition to the final firmware release (or a future one): http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1344523&highlight=

So a while back I handed off the info for one of the burner accounts to Cyborg but now that I wanted to try beta 4 (after having rolled back from beta 2) it says password is wrong. I put in the data I originally got via PM but -_-

Anyway, if anyone can help me out please let me know! Apparently rolling back did not fix the drifting cinema mode that I encountered ever since beta 2.

But do they still sell 3D TVs these days with all the fancy new techs 4K, HDR...?

You can still get them, but new TVs don't have 3D anymore. Last year it was only LG and Sony offering them (using the same panels) and this year they don't. 3D on TVs is likely dead until we can get better tech for it like no glasses and higher bandwidth on the connection to support 3D at higher resolutions.

It's still alive on PC, though, as it's easier to support in games at various resolutions.

I can't update the beta. I'm still on 4.5 Beta 2.

Is it because I used a burner account?

It doesn't update without using another burner account?

Ugh. I guess it's been pretty stable for me so far, there's nothing particularly dangerous about not updating is there? Have there been any corruption bugs reported?

Im getting stuttering in Dark Souls 3 beginning prerendered cutscene when installled on the external but not when its installed on the internal.

That's a worry. Are you using the same drive in both circumstances? I may have to switch to the smaller SSD internally and put my bigger mechanical drive in the enclosure then.

custom wallpapers, woo hoo! had some dope ones on PS3, looking forward to what the yakuza community does here

the other stuff sounds neat too, i haven't checked in ages but is the (clearly superior) PSN store still being obtuse about listing what games you own? because by the end of the long last gen, that list was a nightmare for me

The big issue with beta 2 for me is that Standby mode isn't really putting the console down into any kind of power saving mode, unless if I unselect the "Keep the Internet Connection" in the Rest mode options. Fan is even continuing to blow at a speed that's normal for the fully powered on console. Wonder if they've fixed that.

That was certainly the case, ALTHOUGH didn't one of the Frozenbyte devs claim that Trine 2 was rendering much higher and faster than that. So effectively with the Pro/PSVR allowing those higher frame rates for 3D would it be possible for them to patch such a mode in?

It runs at native 1080p at 60 frames per second - but that's just the beginning of the story. Frozenbyte's impressive Trine 2 has migrated to PlayStation 4 in fine form - not only does it combine the optimal mix of resolution and frame-rate, but it's the only game to support stereoscopic 3D, running internally at an effective 1080p120 in the process. Indeed, according to the developer, Trine 2 could even hit 4K at 30fps should Sony ever unlock the output of the PS4 to support ultra-HD resolution.

Which means that really it can easy get to Pro/PSVR with sharp visuals and high framerate.

How do you add a custome image as the background. I can't for the life of me figure it out, or is it really only screenshots that can be used?

people are working around that limitation by using the ps browser, opening up an image and then taking a screenshot of that i believe

Sony just sent me an invite. I was using a burner account and stuck on 4.5 Beta 2.

Now updating to 4.5 Beta 4. I signed up after the Beta had started. So maybe check your email people.
