What trailers are people talking about? I'm someone who only watches the like first official trailer and the one for Get Out was really good. Did they put out a bunch of bad trailers on tv?

trailer looked fucking stupid. how is this getting good reviews?

Get Out does not rank with America’s notable race comedies — Brian De Palma’s Hi, Mom!, Ossie Davis’s Gone Are the Days! (Purlie Victorious), Robert Downey Sr.’s Putney Swope, Melvin Van Peebles’s Sweet Sweetback, Hal Ashby’s The Landlord, Rusty Cundieff’s Fear of a Black Hat, Skin Game or any of the genre spoofs by the Wayans family, particularly the ingenious Little Man, or the recent Eddie Murphy films (The Klumps, Norbit, Meet Dave, A Thousand Words) that are so personal and ingenious, they transcend racial categorization.

Comparing this movie to a Wayans family or Eddie Murphy film is like laughing with someone to laughing at them. White people are comfortable with those movies because they're more "Look how different black people are, haha" where this movie is more "Look how different black people have it, fuck."

I have a question: as someone who usually doesn't like horror movies, could I enjoy this?

Absolutely because it's more of a thriller.

This dude straight up lies about the movie.
He says a character at the beginning doesn't show up again, but they do and it's a huge plot point. I think this guy is so racist he didn't recognize him. Lol
Fuck this racist piece of shit reviewer

Exactly.

I really want to see it. The premise is interesting, and I really didn't think the trailers were all that terrible. I didn't get that it was a horror movie at first, and I almost don't see how it could be, it seems more of a thriller. That said, I'm avoiding reading about it until I see it.

Is it just me or is this the first wide release movie that's gotten 100% on Rotten Tomatoes in nearly 20 years?

This is an unbelievable feat. I'm shocked. Will definitely see it.

The fuck, didn't even know this movie existed, and I enjoy thrillers. I'll have to look into this further.

Don't. If you like thrillers, go see it without looking any further into it. You'll get the most enjoyment out of it that way.

Movie was really great. Trailers show way too much. The tension in the scenes that don't have anything in the trailers is incredible and it really feels as though the advertising is robbing the film of some of its potential impact.

I'm surprised as well. Trailer looked as much as a satirical take on horror or one of their high-production value K&P sketches.

I'm a bit confused as to where the film is going with its social commentary as well.
The parallels to slave auctions and the disposable nature of minorities gives way to... "oh we're only targeting black people for our body swapping because it's the in thing right now." So is this about micro aggressions?

He brings up Obama 7 times..... like WTF.

I wonder how long Obama will get blamed for everything. It'll be sad if we're twenty years out and that's all these guys can screech about still.

Double Toasted's review is brilliant as always.

Ahhh I can't wait until March 17th! Hearing that it's very rewatchable with loads of hints and easter eggs is reassuring cause I love films that leave loads of details. Sounds like it's one the best films of the year.

We need a spoiler thread. Because
I really enjoyed how when the cop(airport)car shows up everyone in my theater got quiet and sighed and the dread set it. Although the movie did set that up earlier, the reaction comes from what we see in real life. We all knew what it meant for Chris. Then Peele psyched us all the fuck out.

Agreed there needs to be a spoiler thread.
Same in my theater, audible sighs of dread and then everyone bursting into cheers. Great set up

This is one of the things I meant when I mentioned that the stuff that doesn't appear in the trailer is so fantastic. Another similar moment is
the opening scene. Peele toys with audience expectations so well.

I got a $25 fandango gift card from T mobile Tuesday, will be checking this out this weekend. Will gladly support studios and distributors that put their money behind movies like this.
