My town's one screen isn't showing this.

The town over has a seven screen theater, and it's not showing it.

I drove 45 minutes (one way) to the next town down the highway, and it was sold out 15 minutes before showtime. Gonna leave much earlier tomorrow night to catch it.

Damn, that's a shame.

Unfortunately I'm working a fucking 72 hour shift soon and won't be able to watch it until Tuesday at the earliest.

Still gonna pay for my family to see it, tho.

Yeah that was good. My theater was entirely old white people, black people, and me. There's probably something meta about that.

Reminded me of the family from Resident Evil 7 lol

It's very good.

I love how this film is out when usually, we get dreck like The Boy, The Forest, Rings, Unborn

I do think Lil Rel Howery stole the show and Stephen Root does have one of the best moments.

Everything else is spoilery so I'll save that for the Spoilers

They don't sell tickets online? I don't remember the last time I bought tickets at the theatre...and screw driving 45 minutes to not make it.

We always get a awesome horror/thriller around this time of the year.

The witch 2016

It follows 2014

Both February releases in USA I believe

Babadook was 2015? Or was that year missing something?

The problem is that area of the year is usually trash as fuck.

Holy shit. I didn't expect this. The trailers looked really bad. Made me judge it as a cash grab, trying to exploit racial anxiety.

I mean, it's Peele, so I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt when it comes to race commentary at least.

Although I guess there are people who probably don't recognize the name Peele without "Key" in front of it. lol

Yup, I had know idea it was him until I came across this thread!

Through Fandango, which charges a service fee. It's been a very long time since I was at a movie that sold out; the last one was The Force Awakens. I didn't even consider it would sell out. I'll just show up a half hour earlier tomorrow.

7/10
everyone in the cinema seemed like they were having a good time, I may bump my score up to an 8 as the more I think about it I like it more. It was kinda weird watching it as a black guy surrounded by white people and cool when they were rooting on the black protagonist.

Kinda grew up watching the films that inspired Get Out. I thought it could have used like one more element storywise. Though I realize any criticism I give it probably sounds worst than I intended. A few massive jump scares for better or worst.

I just paid $33 for two tickets. Thanks Fandango!

God damn this movie is great. I don't remember the last time I was on the edge of my seat in an actual theater. Or the last time I rooted for the protagonist as much as I did here.

My audience loved it too. Everyone in the theater clapped when
the grandfather shot the woman at the end.

Edit: the only thing that bugged me was how the best friend
eventually found the location of the mansion. Unless I missed it, it never was explained how he just showed up. Yeah it was a funny scene with "I got it fuckin' handled" but confusing too.

My heart stopped when
you saw the blue lights after that, I thought it was going to be a Night of the Living Dead moment where he gets unceremoniously blasted at the end

Also about the friend
I thought he might have used a geo-tag from that picture he sent him, but they never explicitly say anything iirc

Holy shit. That kind of a score is virtually unheard of even for Oscarbaity movies. I'll definitely have to check this out. I love a good twisted comedy horror.
Yep. He was nothing more than a contrarian, or an elaborate troll. I think he was banned shortly after The Dark Knight, when his troll status reached max.

I think it might have been after he was supposed to write a review for Toy Story 3, but decided to launch into a self-important rant about American consumerism instead.

LOL, c'mon. They addressed that bit.
TS motherfucking A!
I don't think it needed to be expounded more than that. It's a movie.

You see him work on the case himself after the cops laugh at him, so he presumably figured it out himself.

Just saw it with my best friend, man this movie is fantastic. This took balls for Jordan, a first time (I believe) director who previously spent years doing sketch comedy to make a slow simmering psychological horror with some interesting narrative decisions...and to have legitimate comedy that isn't out of place?

Well, there was one bit of comedy that was out of place from a storytelling perspective, but even then I think it was perfect because of how it fit into the viewing experience.

Damn fine job Mr. Peele. Damn fine.

Just saw the film and bra-fucking-o. Even when you figure the twists, I still say suprised. Characters behaving reasonably and the friend. I will say you will do yourself a great disservice seeing this without a black audience.

With what "internet culture" is right now, I hope
Allison Williams pictures
don't become some type of meme.
I think she was fantastic in the movie
but I could see people ruining things by being awful

That was stellar, loved every bit of it. Everyone in the audience got a kick out of the red box scene.

Great film and a great audience made this one of the best horror experiences for me. It's rare that you get even just one of those when seeing a horror film.

Loved it.

Genuinely scared me at times, great pacing, and the reveal in the second half felt earned and warranted.

I feel there are the slightest bits of plot holes and a smidge of hypocrisy in some of the writing, but I want to watch it again this week either way.

Looks interesting but I'm not really into documentaries

Didn't realize this thread existed and instead posted it in the trailer thread.

Being 1 of 6 Black people in my graduating class this movie hit way to close to fears I've had as a black man growing up in the neighborhood I did. The streets looked just like my neighborhood. I've been in these exact same situations. I've gone to meet the parents not terrified they wouldn't like me because I'm dating their daughter but terrified because I don't know how they'll react because I'm black. Going to these weird ass parties out in the woods where I'm like 1 of 1 black guy. Studying the exits. Developing a strategy if something went south. Sitting in the seat gripping the armrests with my imagination running wild. By mid movie I wasn't just watching the film I was in the film i was part of it. I was the protagonist. My heart was racing. I was gripping the theater seat. Readjusting. I can't think of a scene I'd remove or a scene that I feel should've been added. Horror movies don't do shit for me. This though. This was absolutely terrifying. I had to get a drink afterwards.

I really enjoyed this movie.
Don't fall to the temptation and read spoilers. Go see it blind and experience one of the best movies this year.
