-=-=->S P O I L E R S<-=-=- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Spoiler Thread

true I have only the sound of the stream and hear all the action since this guy is not talking it makes it so much better

Texture work, LOD, and post-processing (across the board) is where this game lags behind technically. But in other categories it shines brightly. The animations for NPCs are beautiful, especially in cutscenes. They've done such a great job of getting their faces to emote.

And then sound effects, design, and mixing have been top-notch.

I just noticed something. Looking at the final cutscene when Zelda releases a large golden orb that sucked Ganon up, it shrunk into a tiny little black orb. And then I remembered the art work of the Imprisoning War of the seven sages doing the same thing.

Me thinks Zelda just sealed him into the Dark World.

So which timeline are we in again?

Kinda hard to piece together, but based on Zelda's notes and the King's speech in the beginning of the game, it seems to be in the Downfall Timeline. The first time Calamity Ganon awaken was 10,000 years before the events of BoTW, the topic of Malice was a thing mentioned in the original backstory of A Link to the Past's Japanese Manuel. It fits.

From looking at the stream, does the early impressions about the difficulty seem true?

It seems pretty easy to die, enemies can take off most of your life in a good hit and tumbling takes off a bunch of life. In the early game it doesn't seem too bad even though a Blue Bokoblin are like Chainsaw dudes in RE4 in how they're basically OHKOs but there doesn't seem to be anything dissatisfying about progression. A won battle in this game seems to be an earned win.

Oh shit...To pull the master sword, you need to lose a certain amount of hearts. He had 3.75 and he couldn't do it.

Did it take long? I may head their early in my playthrough.

It's not that bad. Just some traversing and a Lost Woods puzzle. You need a certain amount of hearts to pull it though

Honestly, while Zelda and Impa weren't amazing, I thought the King and the Deku tree sounded fine (Definitely thought the King was good, imo).
Some of the complains here almost make it sound as bad as the PS1 version of Resident Evil 1.

It's not even close to sounding that bad.

they should have left voice acting out of the game honestly

Nah, it's the 21st century - there's no reason for fully-animated and mo-capped cutscenes to play like silent films.

Nintendo should have done VA a long time ago; however, because they didn't, they'll have to get through the growing pains the rest of the industry already dealt with.

Well that's not exactly right because Nintendo has had some really well voice acted games already. It's just hit or miss with them.

Nintendo already has games with some great VAs. I dunno what happened here.

I agree they've already done good work (with Xenoblade and Kid Icarus). It's just that the Zelda team is unproven in this respect. That doesn't mean they shouldn't try, even if this attempt isn't the greatest.

Well, this game just shits all over the typical Zelda mechanics and formulas left and right.... I thought A Link Between Worlds was different, but it seems that was just a beta test for this massive mindfuck of a game they were planning. God damn I can't wait until Friday.

I find it really funny and interesting that out of Zelda, Metroid and Kid Icarus, the latter is the one that managed to have consistently great voice acting in a modern game.
