-=-=->S P O I L E R S<-=-=- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Spoiler Thread

Someone saw someone get killed on the stream by trying to pull the sword without enough hearts. I wonder if it actually just requires a number of hearts to able to be "strong" enough to pull it? Like it damages you as you pull it but if you have enough hearts you can survive?

That's what we're guessing but we don't really know for sure lol And back to that other poster we don't really know the exact heart restriction yet. We were just watching a streamer get wrecked trying to pull on the master sword last night.

Each of the Divine Beasts gives one heart container. 4 Hearts + 3 Starting = 7, so that might be the minimum amount. It's possible you might spend a lot of your Spirit Orbs on Stamina Upgrades.

That seems like such a low number to me. I wonder if they'd really lock access to the master sword behind shrine completion though? I don't know.

It's uploaded.

This game is going to dominate my life. Thank you.

I assume that's the gimmick. The streamer had four hearts and couldn't survive. It's hard to tell how many you need though. Finding the Master Sword is one of the first things I want to do though. I can at least take a selfie with it.

Well if you complete 4 shrines you can get a heart. Combine that with food that gives you temporary hearts and you might be able to get the Master Sword quite early.

So how did the dungeons turn out? Are they samey looking like the shrines? Did they really turn out to be just the insides of the beasts or are they still part of the world?

I imagine the Sword burns through all the temporary hearts at once and slowly drains your real hearts. Considering it's one of the invincible weapons I doubt it'll be that easy.

Maybe it's a Dark Souls 2 type situation? Either you play long enough to amass enough hearts/souls or you beat the 4 bosses which also lets you pick it up without issue

The main dungeons are the inside and the outside of the beasts, the final dungeon is a more combat focused labyrinth consisting of the grounds surrounding Hyrule Castle and the inside.

I dunno, in the old games the restriction was basically 3 hearts (beat 3 dungeons); you'd have 6 hearts when it was time to get the master sword. But you still had to upgrade the master sword into a more powerful form (ALttP, WW, ALBW) or there was a more powerful alternative weapon. Based on the weapon images from the datamine we can infer that the master sword does have upgrades, so it would make sense to get the weakest version of the master sword at 6 hearts. Other weapons would likely still be more powerful than it.

Also, characters in the game seem to expect you to have the master sword by the time you do the divine beast quest. Important characters will question you why you don't have it and remind you to go get it.

Horses may not be in the bestiary since they are not enemies, things that can be killed for weapons or resources, or collected to make elixirs.

Oh, understood. There's also this
glowing blue beast with a furry white mane and golden leafy antennae, looks like an ultra rare mount.

Using spoiler tags just in case people are being sensitive to what they see. I myself am avoiding anything story or soundtrack related, but spoiling myself on items, enemies and creatures...

i was genuinely curious if people here liked it, seems pretty obvious that the press is really into it.
interested to see how the general public reacts.

Currently I am still mixed on the game as it's doing things that doesn't appeal to me and the last Zelda game ended being my least favorite Zelda game, but I am going into the game with an open mind and judge the game myself when I get it on Friday.

But I don't see Breath of the Wild beating Majora's Mask or Windwaker as my favorite Zelda game, the voice acting alone ruled it out.

In Zelda 1 you needed 5 hearts to get the white sword and 12 to get the magic sword. It's not entirely out of left field. Especially since this game is referencing Zelda 1 heavily.

Urgh I hated that mechanic in Zelda 1 as it made no sense and when I found the sword I kept trying to pick it up but the game wouldn't and I thought that the game bugged out till someone on Miiverse told me that I needed more hearts which annoyed me even further as I was struggling badly and needed the extra power work hard to reach the location of the sword but the game was denying me that because I didn't have enough sword.

It's lame in Zelda 1 and it's lame in this game as well, even more so if the requirement of the hearts is high.

I will have to test that out when I get the game.

Either way it's kinda lame as if you take the 4 dungeon route, you have a powerful Sword with nothing to use it on as the game will be drawing to an end or take a longer route in collecting hearts just so you can get the sword.

One of the thing that I didn't like about the game is the breakable weapons, as I feel that they add no value to the game, but I accept it as I realise that I could head toward the Master Sword, grab it and not worry about weapons breaking on me but now I am learning that they added another layer to the game to punish players who headed that way first.

The characters do that? The attention to detail in this game hnnnggg.

Fuck the master sword though I'd rather be coasting with the biggoron sword.

I actually think the definitive way to play is by trying to storm Hyrule Castle, regardless of whether or not you can beat it.

The Castle itself is really creepy, desolate, and melancholic, and Link going there without reactivating his memories or meeting any of his old friends tells a certain story. It's a nice contrast with the mostly lighthearted tone of the rest of the main quest.

Also cause you can get some sick weapons and armor pretty early and keep them.

Do you keeo weaponry when you die? Or do you gotta get in, and then get out?

Any videos of what you can get?

You can't use food for temporary hearts to get the Master Sword. One of the streamers tried that, and it didn't work. Essentially, as you are pulling out the sword, it drains you of hearts. If you don't any enough hearts, you die. So you need a certain amount of hearts to complete the process of pulling it out.

Based on the item pictures, it does seem like their are multiple versions of the Master Sword. So I wouldn't be surprised if you could get it kind of early. I wonder how you upgrade it. I'm hoping during an optional dungeon, but probably just a quest.

Yeah that will be one of the first thing that I will do, especially since the Hylian Shield is in there.

It will be the Breath of the Wild version of Forsaken fortress where when I first enter there I will be weak and ill equipped but eventually I will return with more experience under my belt.

So 6 hearts could be the minimum requirement to pull the sword out, so that would be about 24 shrine the player would have to do...I can work with that.

I have a question,

This song is not actually part of the OST, is it? It's titled "Final Battle".

He has the rest of the soundtrack, don't see why this wouldn't be real? That's some fuckin Dark Souls shit right there. I wonder why they went with sequenced music though

Edit: Nevermind, seems this is actually fan-made lol. Explains the lower quality samples to literally everything else in the game.

Ganon must have a TON of phases. God damn

Guessing this short one is the one that segues into the main BotW theme between phases. Also I love the high tempo orchestral track so fucking much, when it goes over into Ganon's main theme is sooo fucking good. It's like they took Ganon's and Demise's music, sprinkled some new fresh stuff on it and mixed it in a blender.

Who does a 3 heart early game run will be a fucking boss.

Seriously, Hyrule Castle + 4 Dungeon Blights + 3+ Ganon Phases? That's a lot of steaks to burn through.

Plus you'll probably do baby damage to Ganon without the Master Sword lol.

Those songs are good in and of themselves but they sound weird as heck for a final boss battle. They sound like end credit music, not final Ganon battle music.

I'm guessing the ones with the main theme are for the last phase when Link finally gains an upper hand

I like it a lot too. In general the soundtrack is incredibly minimalist but it really works for me.

Lol dunno if I consider that a "broken" ability like some have said.

The description says "When your hearts run out, you will be automatically resurrected with full health plus temporary bonus hearts"

YES I'M WEAK I COULD NOT RESIST TO KEEP SPOILING ME, HELP ME ;__;
