Link's Adventure.
This is making me think of Back to the Future.

Link's Adventure.
The original LoZ was apparently Sci Do before they switched to the fantasy theme. Makes sense they are adding some of those aspects.

So has it been determined which timeline this ends up on?
Child and adult both seem to have logical points.
In one cutscene, Zelda refers to the Master sword as having been "skyward bound, adrift in time, and passed through the embers of twilight," which suggests Child timeline.

That's what I thought, but didn't the king also say that the princess and her hero sealed Ganon away (as in OoT)? That would imply adult timeline, would it not?
Based on the clues we have so far, it looks like it's either the Child or Downfall timeline. And no matter which of the two it is, it's very clearly at the farthest end of its timeline by a large margin.
Problem with Child is OoT didn't happen in that timeline.Based on the clues we have so far, it looks like it's either the Child or Downfall timeline. And no matter which of the two it is, it's very clearly at the farthest end of its timeline by a large margin.
The thing the King of Hyrule talks about first is like 99% the Imprisoning War which would make it Downfall timeline. Only real difference is that instead of the Knights of Hyrule defeating Ganon they built the Guardians to help with that shit. But it is insanely close to the Imprisoning War.
I don't think he was talking about the Imprisoning War, but of an event that they orchestrated based after what little information they had of the first War which happened 10,000 year ago. I think he tried to replicate it as they feared the rise of Ganon.

Yeah Downfall is the only one that makes sense given that two conditions must be fulfilled.
1. Ruto must awaken as Sage
2. Hyrule can't be flooded.
Granted, why the fuck did the gods flood Hyrule when Ganondorf returned but not when he came back as malevolent force of nature? Then again, Wind Waker intro Ganon does resemble Calamity Ganon a great bit. But still, why no flooderino, did the differences in events unfold in a way that led the gods to believe the Shiekah had shit under control?
They just used those words to pay homage to other games, similar to Easter eggs. This is clearly in the DF timeline.

Journalists/Press/Reviewers of GAF: I need some questions answered for the BotW OT - a few straight forward clarifications to make sure I don't misinform the forum!
Could anyone that's had extensive time with the game answer a few of these questions for me?
PM me if you can!
Any references to Fi at all? Just curious, as she's still technically asleep inside the Master Sword, no? I forget how SS ended...
There is a final Dungeon in the game. It is called Forgotten Temple, you are granted access to it after clearing all 120 Shrines. Clearing the temple grants Link the tunic of Breath of The Wild.
Yeah Downfall is the only one that makes sense given that two conditions must be fulfilled.

King Zora in BotW says that if nothing was done the elephant beast would flood the world.Yeah Downfall is the only one that makes sense given that two conditions must be fulfilled.

Existence of Twilight Realm isn't timeline dependent. Sages would also be in Downfall, all 3 point work with Downfall.I kind of feel like they put it references to ALL of the timelines, just to make people argue/make their own decision.
The King describes the Sealing War, which makes it Downfall timeline.
Zelda references the Twilight Realm, which makes it Child timeline.
Ruto and Nabooru are mentioned as sages, which makes it Adult timeline.
It's all of them and none of them. I think Nintendo is being purposefully obscure.
It would be great if you could then have look if a reasonable way exists to "walkthrough" your way to unbreakable weapons without ta´king away too much in terms of puzzles / dungeons (which to me are the main meat of the game; if I have to look up a list of 30 photo locations in the world, I couldn't care less about finding them legitimately myself).
So, is Link in the past just some dude? I remember that all of us were speculating that he was a previous Link, but it sounds like this is a particularly stand-alone narrative, even for Zelda?
Do you mean previous Link as in one that we played as in the previous games? If so, then yeah its looking like its a new Link. He just has a history already of being involved in the Calamity or whatever.

Is it possible that they designed this game to function as a convergence of all of the existing timelines? Because there are elements from both the Child and Adult/Downfall timelines.
That's not how time works; if all three timeline merged, the entirety of time and space would be in chaos. We would have multiple version of the complete Triforce and two spirits of the hero. Locations that exist in one timeline would smash into a similar, but completely different areas in a different timeline, causing untold destruction. We're talking about the entire world in complete ruins, not just towns and villages.
It's also been more than 10,000 years since Ocarina of Time, the races seen in Wind Waker likely evolved much more slowly in the Downfall Timeline. It took a few hundred years for the Rito to evolve from the Zora, I can see them taking 9000 or so years to do the same under less extreme environments.
This game really feels like a figurative "convergence" of timelines, rather than a literal one which is what I was sort of expecting. I really get a vibe of it paying homage to everything that happened in the past before they move on to something entirely new. I don't think this game is going to fit neatly into any preexisting concept of the Zelda timeline.

It certainly references a lot. As it stands, downfall is the only timeline that can reasonably handle all of them. OoT sages being referenced nixes Child Timeline, and a ton of stuff nixes Adult Timeline. Downfall is a timeline that can easily have parallels to Child Timeline and references from Adult timeline have been few and minor in a way that couldn't be explained for the other timelines. This game really feels like a figurative "convergence" of timelines, rather than a literal one which is what I was sort of expecting. It does, especially with Ganon giving up his ability to ever reincarnate again in his final form.
Nintendo, don't you take Ganondorf's beautiful hair away from me permanently, especially considering how amazing the Gerudo ladies look in BotW. I can't believe how superb the character design for BotW is, and we're not getting Ganondorf.
we could have had The Hair sob
He has kind of an ugly mane while in his first form. But when he turns into the boar, Zelda says he's given up on ever reincarnating and is using his full power and the power of malice...then he just stands there and let's you kill him![]()
Poor bastard finally wants to die after getting sealed in Ocarina's Downfall universe, killed in LttP, resurrected and killed in the Oracle games and Link Between Worlds, and Zelda 1, and the backstory of Breath of the World... feel bad for him at this point.

Whatever humanity is in that beast, it clearly longs for death. I mean, it seems like the Sheikah were experimenting with his being under the castle in the laboratory. He's become nothing more than a lab rat, an experiment. And at the very end of the game, it seems he wasn't even granted his death, it looked like Zelda has sealed him off somewhere else. Poor bastard.

He just went on to Hyrule Castle.

The dark beast look sucks to me. Looks like a dark souls generic design mixed with the terrible Twilight form. Nintendo might as well make giga bowser for MARIO fans and make Studio Ghibli rip offs were every enemy is covered in living tar liquids mixed with worms and eyeballs. And Ganon's final form looks cool, but yeah seems to be super easy and more of a 'flashy' final battle since the attack he does is kind of piss easy to dodge while on a horse.
