WP: Sessions Met with Russia Twice Last Year, Didn't Disclose During Confirmation

I think an interesting tactic here would be to seek to get him disbarred instead of trying to get the Congress or the Senate to you know do it's job.

I'm gonna say that the Russia link between just him and no other Senators and the obvious pro Russia changes to the RNC platform while the Russian spy recruiter (ambassador) was at the RNC means that there is enough there to keep this around for a while.

Even if Trump tries to scream FAKE NEWS all day.

With all the leaks coming out it's fucking HILARIOUS that anyone in his administration would lie under oath. Like really? You really never thought anyone would find out?

I'm sorry, but it's just astonishing how inept they are, like they're not even good at being bad.

The lowbrow line from the alt-right is that Sessions was setup by obama or the deep state or whatever because he was on the verge of breaking open the pizzagate case and prosecuting 1000s of highly placed liberals
That's pretty much going to be their explanation as each domino falls.

Now I want pizza while laying in bed. Thanks a lot, alt-right a-holes!

He was under oath.

Where'd you get that idea?

Video of him taking the oath:
https://www.c-span.org/video/?42093...ons-testifies-confirmation-hearing&start=2555

And his statement about Russia:
https://www.c-span.org/video/?420932-7/attorney-general-confirmation-hearing-day-1-part-4&start=220

I like how Sessions looks around like Mr. Magoo after he makes that statement.

Much thanks for clarifying. First page of posts confused me a bit

Oh its on now...LOCK HIM UP

Literally nothing he could do here. If he went after the other party's candidate he would have been accused of election meddling. That would have been the new story.

From what I know Obama surrounded himself with bright and thoughtful people. I'm sure these discussions were had.

but he didn't have the valuable input of internet forum NeoGaf poster Royalan.....!!!!

Yeah, I agree.

Trump & his Administration has had more scandals than almost every other President & Administration before them in U.S. history, & it's only been what, 41 days since Trump & the rest have all been sworn in?

Good grief.

I always thought Pizzagate was about idiots thinking Chicago has better pizza than NYC.

Fuck these traitorous fucks.

On the bright side these traitorous fucks seem so traitorous that apparently at no point did any of them say, "you know what? Maybe I shouldn't be meeting with Russian spies in person or talking to them on the phone, if I'm gonna be colluding with them."

I for one am glad that they're not very smart

Yeah they will try that angle. I mean that's the shit they used to Silence Warren that night. Even thought she was speaking about Nominee Sessions they used his current job to shield him from criticism.

In this case it will be pointed out by the media which has already started that the other 20 Members of the Arm Service Committee none of them spoke with Russia at all.

This seems to lend a lot of credibility to the Jeff Sessions piece Louise Mensch wrote a few weeks ago.

The way I look at it, if Jeff Sessions had no connection to Russia, then what else would be gained from him not recusing himself from the investigation.

That's good. We should be talking to the russians more. We're gunna want them as an ally in the next world war for sure.

I take it the White House statement on this will be something like "nothing nefarious was said between AG Sessions and the Russian ambassador"

Unbelievable.

I'd hate to be the Russian ambassador guy. No one wants to admit they talked to him. Does he have bad body odor or something?

They already are, courtesy of the Breitbart propaganda machine...

Democrats and the media are once again targeting Attorney General Jeff Sessions — this time, over allegations that he met twice with the Russian ambassador during the 2016 presidential campaign. The Washington Post reports that Sessions met Sergey Kislyak once at a Heritage Foundation event in July 2016, where other ambassadors were also present. It also reports that Sessions met with Kislyak in his Senate office in September, in his capacity on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

The hook on which the Post attempts to hang Sessions is that he did not disclose the meetings to the Senate when he was asked about “possible contacts between members of President Trump’s campaign and representatives of Moscow.” Sessions’s spokesperson at the Department of Justice, Sarah Isgur Flores, says his answer in January was truthful because he was asked about “the Trump campaign — not about meetings he took as a senator and a member of the Armed Services Committee.”

But it is all just more “fake news.” A chance greeting at a public event, and a Senate meeting in the course of his official duties, do not add up to anything, and the full transcript — also omitted by the Times — makes it clear Sessions told the truth.

Not posting a link 'cos they're a bunch of cunts who don't need more clicks.

Feel like we need jpgs of each of Trump's cabinent members with "No puppet" as captions. As each one gets connected to Russia in some way, we can scratch the "no puppet" text with a line through.
So like, treason bingo?

Just make a supercut of his cabinet "singing" I got no strings to hold me down, like the Brian Williams rapping videos on Fallon.

From the UK here so don't really understand the US system. How is this guy not getting done for perjury?

And why on earth aren't the democrats really going for the jugular after all this sleaze keeps coming out?

Both questions can be answered by "Republicans have all the power."

The bigger security threat of him being evasive or deceitful when talking about his Russia contacts is that it makes him vulnerable to blackmail by foreign actors (not just the FSB, but also other services that have intercepts.)

I just can't see how you can leave someone in his position of authority with this suspicion hanging over him - it's insane.

Yep.

Deplorables on Twitter also desperately trying to frame this as "he was doing his job as a Senator!" It's amazing how they can view something through their bullshit prism and it becomes a cold hard fact to them within hours.

Republicans control the White House and Congress.

Give it some time, the article only came out late last night.
