Every scandal and every resignation makes Trump weaker and weaker. The big money interests in this country (the ones who don't care either way about racism and oppression and just want to maximize profits) are already nervous about him because unpredictability equals volatile financial markets. Eventually it will get to a point where the big money interests push the button and force the Republicans in Congress to turn on him.

It took a year and a half for Watergate to finally bring down Nixon, and things are already moving at a faster pace than that. He's going down.

I agree that it weakens him. I don't think he'll win re-election. And I don't doubt that he's making a lot of donors nervous. The problem is that Republicans in any distinct cannot win without Trump's base. It's why I think they'll just keep deflecting blame from Trump himself, even if others in his administration get taken down.

Not only is this kind of cynicism unhealthy and counter-productive, it's a bizarre statement to make given that Trump's national security adviser was forced to resign over lying about Russian communications just 2-3 weeks ago.

I see no reason to not be cynical right now. My cynicism has always seemed to be right lately. I think Sessions might be done, which is not insignificant (he's one of the worst people in this shit show). But I'll continue to be cynical about any of this taking down Trump. The longer it drags on, the less likely there is an actual smoking gun that could convince Republicans to do shit.

This is still bullshit. Sessions recusing himself from the investigation should have been a given from the moment he was a confirmed nomination. The obvious conflict of interest was a joke on Americans' intelligence. Any self-respecting figure with morals and ethics (I know he doesn't have any) in that position would understand the importance of it for transparency and truth. Sessions should be forced to resign and also punished for perjury. There's likely other crimes here as well, but let's just focus on the perjury. Fuck giving him the opportunity for clarification. This man knows the law and took Clinton to task for perjury in 1999. He knows the drill, so his statements should have been crystal-fucking-clear from the get go. He does not get a pass, he does not get the benefit of the doubt. Not with his experience and age. He was under oath in a confirmation hearing for a position that is the chief law enforcement officer in the country. WHAT THE FUCK?!
