I don't think you realize the scope of what you're asking for here.

The situation is unprecedented, but the former president actively undermining the legitimacy of the incoming administration (especially if he didn't have all of the facts) would be a catastrophic precedent for future partisan politics. Trump being an awful president or having a leaky cabinet doesn't change that he was legally elected president. If it's eventually revealed that Trump was the mastermind behind the Russian hacks, then we can have that talk about what the president should have done, but a) I don't think that's going to happen and b) if it did, there's no way Obama knew in time for it to matter.

I think the only way Trump lasts the entire four years is if he gets rid of most of his cabinet:

Bannon
Miller
Sessions
Tillerson (maybe)
Conway

Even then, if one of these guys rolls over and implicates Trump in this, he is done. What are the betting odds for impeachment at?

This all revolves around the Ukraine invasion/annexation. Russia needs those sanctions lifted so Rex Tillerson can get the Russia-Exxon deal flowing oil again, tax-free through Crimea.

It's so fucking obvious now it's disgusting. I wonder how many people in Trump's cabinet are getting kickbacks from this Russian deal? Probably ALL of them at this point.

They're probably dragging their feet on investigations because MOST of the GoP top-brass have some sort of stake in Russia's oil.

Russia's probably using it as blackmail now. If Trump tries to walk away from lifting Russia's sanctions, or the Democrats somehow get Trump's pro-Russia cabinet members removed, Russia will just expose everyone that they gave oil/business deals too and laugh as the US government burns itself down.

Um, a lot of people are acting up. There's not much we can do right now, without actual evidence, though. Sessions being a supposed traitor is a start, but it's only a start.

Conway will be the first to leak everything if she ever gets fired. I think it's the only reason they're keeping her around.

Obama knew he took a gamble hillary would still win, then use the further revelations of the hack so to embarrass putins efforts and kneecap republicans and shore up anti Russian support.

Tillerson probably survives. The fact that he was in the private sector during his interactions and wasn't really involved in the campaign might help him. He's also a lot less controversial than Bannon and Miller. Those are the two I really want gone as they are driving the domestic agenda and the instability we're witnessing.

There's a reason Flynn was fired at the DIA and why Sessions has been out on the fringes in the Senate for basically his whole career. When you've never held real power and responsibility, or have been terminated because of how you handled your power and responsibility, it stands to reason that they are going to continue misusing power and responsibility, unaware of the system around you.

Scott Pruitt should be similarly worried.

They are incompetent as fuck. They rely on outside help, and a dumb base that votes against its interests. They have never relied on actual skill or qualification.

Keep calling your reps at a minimum. Keep putting pressure on them even if, yes, they're not in the majority, on a key committee, or may be a Republican. Don't be passive about it, much as it may seem pointless.

Thankfully my actually state government will vote against anything that Trump orders, so I don't have much to worry about. I have considered calling.

This is the current political climate. Dems and left leaning politicians need to fight for every inch in this fight. The GOP would be perfectly fine if he just recused himself. The law works differently for Republicans when controlling the Government.
 
So Republicans being against Global Warming wasn't always for U.S. oil companies but it seems like it was for Russian oil companies as well....

I have a feeling this leak about Sessions was timed to drop after the media cycled through Trump's address.

Let him receive a little praise and undulation from the press that he didn't vomit on himself.

Immediately drop bombshell about another compromised official. He can't even have a moment of victory for more than a day. I hope it never lets up.
 
But then the problem is the fact that Sessions apparently now doesn't remember what he spoke with the Russian ambassador about. “There’s just not strong recollection of what was said,” one Justice Department official told The Post. So in one case, you have a denial that the campaign was discussed, and now the line is apparently that he doesn't remember talking about specific things like the campaign. It's all very reminiscent of Michael Flynn's statements that he couldn't recall discussing sanctions with the Russian ambassador — even though he had.

I don't think anyone thought the American public would be dumb enough to vote them into office. I don't even think Russia thought that.

Then Russia was feeling pretty good because they thought Trump was going to be sympathetic to their causes. Now I think we will be even stronger on Russia.
 
let this serve as a wake up call to the French who are having their Presidential Election this April.

Thank God they have a Two Round system.

If Macron wins, the French should slap sanctions against Russia for meddling in their election
