WP: Sessions Met with Russia Twice Last Year, Didn't Disclose During Confirmation

At this point, it wouldn't be surprised if the IC is primed to try and upend the prez and certain members of Congress if they have certain connections to Russia.

At this point I think we can say Nunez is the most likely at the top of the shit list, I would love if Chaffetz could be taken down too but he is just partisan and scummy asshole more then likely. Nunez at minimum was on the trump transition team and has already been exposed as someone attempting to stifle the investigation in the public eye after being asked to by Trump surrogates.

Dont know if discussed but the WH or at least Spicer is pushing back against recusal of Sessions saying this partisan politics. The WH may still be backing Sessions.

Of note, alot of Republicans have called for recusal.

Who would've thought that somebody named Jefferson Beauregard would be a traitor to the United States?

I'm becoming more convinced over time that this Russian conspiracy has ties deep within the Republican party, and Nunes is near the top of my shit list.

If that's the case, then Comey is in a hell of a position. He is heading a divided bureau, Washington is as leaky as it has ever been, he has no idea who to trust and he has to figure out a way to gather enough evidence and support to shoot the devil in the back.

Does it look like this is gaining any traction at all or is there still too little for any significant pressure to be felt?

Yeah it gained traction surprisingly fast. Republicans were quick to break ranks with even Jason Chaffetz asking Sessions to recuse himself, and Dems accusing him of perjury.

Seems like the only concrete thing we have is that Sessions "misled" or outright lied during his Senate confirmation hearing, but it would be hard to prove intent.

Intent doesn't matter, and this is blowing up everywhere.

Haha, dude had zero problems sharing all of the nothing they were investigating about Clinton's email though.

Are you saying Comey is a Republican shill who went against the rules to negatively affect the Clinton campaign and won't actually do his job now because it's against a Republican?

I'm not sure how this ISN'T perjury.
There's a crazy amount of Trump people using semantics to create some logic tree of "committee versus senator" differentiation. This is not a syntax error or clever riddle. Perjury is the act of deliberately deceiving the "court." Not a grammar filter. He played himself.

White House had to comment on not knowing about Sessions talking to Russians. Yes it's gaining traction. And intent means dick all. He lied under oath and he's not senile. That is perjury.

I don't think that they have any other choice right now. The exit of another high profile WH admin official over Russian ties in less than a month could mark the fall of the entire regime.

Shocking, I know.

Trump's cabinet picks resigning won't mean he'll hire progressive ones to replace them. His policies won't change.
This is an asinine post. Sessions being removed from potential future investigations is big news and hurts Trump. Furthermore Sessions is a racist piece of shit, potentially removing him from the Justice Department is a good thing.

This is going to take time. Trump is on the path to indictment.

Yeah,

Trump may want to try and let Sessions live, because having someone in the AG slot this tight with Trump has a lot of usefulness to Trump for his own protection.

Bringing in a moderate Republican who isn't closely aligned with the Trump family would open up Trump to potential prosecution down the road.

I expect him to name is fucking family lawyer at this point.

When do the fucking Republican turncoats in Congress agree to a special prosecutor? We have 3 Congressional investigations, FBI investigations and Justice Dept investigation looking into this, Campaign chair Manafort being compromised and forced to resign, NatSec advisor Flynn compromised and forced to resign, and Attorney General possibly compromised and possibly forced to resign/recuse. All the while the big orange fuck says there is nothing going on, and all the shitbags in Congress buried their heads in each others asses.

When is enough is enough? Fucking Clinton and his bluedress cum got a special prosecutor and not this?

When they have literally no other options. "Crouching down in a cave on Mars with their eyes shut and their fingers in their ears" is an option in their eyes. You must remove any choice from the matter to make them do anything worthwhile, because they will always choose to deflect, dodge, defend, defer if they can.

US Senate calls on British spy Chris Steele to give evidence on explosive Trump-Russia dossier

Christopher Steele, the former MI6 spy who prepared the explosive Trump report, has been approached about testifying before the US Senate Intelligence Committee’s investigation into the new President’s alleged links with Russia, The Independent can reveal.

Mr Steele’s friends say it is currently unlikely he would be willing to travel to the US. But it is understood Democrats – as well as some Republicans – in Congress are prepared to facilitate discreet initial meetings in the UK or on other neutral territory.

He might double down on Sessions, simply because of how afraid he is of someone not as close to him as Sessions is.

My hope is that this is what Trump attempts to do. Go to bat for sessions, maybe try and bury some stuff. Get sucked in real close, then be forced to cut sessions loose but dirty himself in the process.
