WP: Sessions Met with Russia Twice Last Year, Didn't Disclose During Confirmation

I'm noticing so many people in the last 24 hours are suddenly absolute experts on the duties and correct procedures for the Senate Armed Services Committee.

That second part whew

Yup. Doubling down. This is the only way they could come out unscathed.

Every thing with Trump and his team has just been fucking nuts. Hope they all get locked up.

GOP are all traitors.

Can not be over stated. So many people in the GOP have had the chance to dump Trump and instead, they've all fallen in line to continuously eat out his ass in the face of the heaps upon heaps of shit that continue to pour out of his administration. They have ZERO regard for the safety, well-being, or progress of the US or its citizens.

To be frank, the Armed Services Committee has nothing to do with it. It's their cover, but the wrongdoing or lack thereof has nothing to do with his roll in the committee. He simply lied to congress about meeting with Russians, point blank, in the middle of an investigation into Russian hacks and campaign collusion.

Remember Conway saying that Flynn continued to "enjoy the full confidence of the president", then by the end of the next day he was gone?

Accountability doesn't mean a damn thing to them.
I hope the stink of this administration sticks to their party until the end of time.

But we're a country of idiots.

If the Russian ambassador to the U.S. told a U.S. senator and Trump campaign surrogate "Stay tuned in the next few days, the election may turn in Trump's favor" and then a few days later Wikileaks began dumping Democratic emails obtain by Russian hackers, then that ambassador is going to be fucking executed by Putin. I cannot imagine a dumber implementation of international espionage than that. :lol

You're right.

Which points to them saying something like "We have some information we can release to help Trump, what can you do for us?"

Expound more, please.

Every single excuse for this is "He met Russians as part of the Armed Services Committee, this is nothing! No controversy!". I guarantee 99% of the people saying this have never heard of the Armed Services Committee before one of the WH responses, since they have given conflicting statements, used that as an excuse.

Now like loyal dogs they bark that same excuse like they thought of it themselves. I would ask all of them to tell me, without googling it, what the Armed Services Committee does, and why it would involve Sessions privately meeting a Russian ambassador in his office to talk about the election. But I'm sure the official WH excuse will have changed by then, since that one was already debunked by other members of the Committee.

Of course it's nothing, but it's the way that people leap on the excuse without a thought towards verifying if it holds up themselves, simply because it was said by the GOP, that irks me.

Are you implying that the elect president and his elect administration can do whatever?

There are lines between the transfer of power. The audacity that they can just fuck about before it happens is part of the problem. It leads to the realization that they've probably been doing it all along (as has been proven with fuckfaces connections to russia).

Not to mention why only he, as just one of 26 members and not chairman or ranking member, would be the only one that would need to talk to the russian ambassador about whatever it is at that time.

Yep, just like Sessions being a racist piece of shit is only propaganda, right?

As I said a few weeks ago, I think the racism accusations against Sessions are highly dubious and am glad the senate confirmed him.

Mr. Blonde is basically the Trump supporter equivalent of the Onion's "increasingly nervous man".

I'd be shocked if Sessions loses his job over this, and do not think he deserves to, but it would really have no effect on my life. Trump isn't going to reappoint Loretta Lynch if Sessions gets canned.

"Total Confidence"
I don't expect Sessions to stick around for much longer.

Nope. Trump can double down on it all he wants, he's just further seeding that he himself isn't to be trusted either.

Good way to get impeached tbh

Edit:

Remember Conway saying that Flynn continued to "enjoy the full confidence of the president", then by the end of the next day he was gone?

I forgot about this LOL

I don't know where you got any of that. I'm saying nothing about his duties on that Committee are valid excuses for his contact with Russians, but all over the place I'm seeing people, Trump supporters, rush to use that excuse and dismiss this. It's just hilarious how little they think about this, they hear a WH excuse, and they copy it.

We elected a Republican majority to congress less than 2 years after Bush left. Not a goddamn thing sticks to these fucks.

Didn't he have "full confidence" with Flynn immediately before asking for his resignation?

On the topic of Flynn: If confidence was lost in him because he couldn't remember taking to the Russians etc. what is different in this situation?

Shouldn't an attorney general have pretty good recollection?

I hope you know it's perfectly acceptable to criticize your president. Just because you supported him and his decisions before does not mean you have to fly in the face of all the controversy surrounding him and proceed to go down with his sinking ship.

Humility is a good trait.

The only confidence that was lost with Flynn was their confidence that they could cover up the controversy and make it go away. So he had to go, as a fall guy.
If it looks like they can't get away from this, Sessions will go too.

You don't think the top man in the justice department lying under oath is enough for him to lose his job?

I misread that. my bad.

Touring the U.S.S. Gerald R. Ford, the newest American aircraft carrier, Mr. Trump said that he “wasn’t aware” that Mr. Sessions had spoken to the ambassador, but that he believed the attorney general had testified truthfully to the Senate during his confirmation hearing.

In their defense the public had no choice but to act after the Republicans uncovered Obama's nefarious plans to kill their grandmothers with his "affordable health care".

Conway: Trump has ‘full confidence’ in Flynn

President Trump has “full confidence” in embattled national security adviser Michael Flynn, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said Monday.

Speaking on MSNBC, Conway was asked whether Trump would stand by Flynn amid mounting speculation the president would cut his national security adviser loose over reports that Flynn discussed sanctions in a private discussion with a Russian diplomat before Trump's inauguration.

“Yes, Gen. Flynn does enjoy the full confidence of the president,” Conway said.
