Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales - Trailer 3

Looks worse every new thing that comes out for it.

Guess these things have just passed me by, but wasn't the 2nd and 3rd movie basically Zombies anyway? And, come to think of it, the 1st movie?

1 was 2spooky4me skeletons
2 and 3 were fish people
4 had voodoo zombies I guess

I'm guessing this movie is drowned ghosts?

I was really hoping with this one they'd reevaluate what worked about the first movie and take away some different lessons than they had previously, but... I mean, we'll see, I dunno. I'll try to keep my bar set at "cool-looking pirate action" and if the actual storytelling is good it'll be a nice surprise.

There's some alternate universe where they went the "wandering samurai" route with the series, having Jack stumble into various situations, keeping him as our window into different conflicts and characters without being the center of them.

"The Final Adventure Begins...." Part 1 of 2, maybe 3, depending how young we can keep depp

Thanks to CGI, he can be dead, and still look youthful. It's literally done in that trailer... his face on a teenager. That's far more difficult to do then shaving a few wrinkles off here or there.

Gonna march right on to the nearest cinema near to watch this like the sucker I am. This is like my CoD or Fifa :p I know that they aren't amazing films, but I love them to bits!

Ugh, not happy that guy from Gods of Egypt is in this. He isn't a particularly great actor and he has just way too much of a fashion model face.

Bardem looks really great though

I just realised this is Golshifteh Farahani.

Pirates films reinvigorated the Pirates mythos, and thier spectacular portrayal of Pirates as Rockstars (eye liner, bling, druken outspoken cavaliers) was a stroke of genius that elevated the idea of a pirate, I love these movies for that, and if you notice post PotC most Pirates are modeled under the same discipline thought up by the movie. There was nothing like it before. The costumes, environments and CG (Squid face) are some of the greatest highs in cinema. So yes, this franchise is an unbelievable example of creativity and inventiveness.

So man, I'm extremely upset to find out it's the last movie....I hope it's not.

And that Hanz Zimmer score!!!

I can't even front this trailer looks pretty good. It also looks like they've made the smart move of pushing Sparrow to the back a little, which is what was needed.

if you haven't you should look into Black Sails. incredible show that integrates real historic pirates with some characters from Treasure Island.

That hair effect on the dead captain is jarring. I wish they would have showed it longer than a second at a time so I can decide if I like it or not.

4th one did at least have the very good Mermaid and Blackbeard themes.

Mermaids I agree, Blackbeard's worked but I also recall them saying it was a remix or reverse of a previous theme.

Edit: nvm, found that interview. Its one of the few originals.
Zimmer isn't returning, but one of his acolytes that worked on The Lone Ranger is.
Oh I know he isn't, Im just hoping for a full effort unlike 4's which was minimal

Not really feeling the obvious Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightly replacements.

How come all of the bad guys in PoTC have to be dudes Jack fucked over in his younger days? How much shit did Jack do before the series started?

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that

That was my issue with the 4th movie, or at least what I could remember of it. And that's my issue with this trailer as well. They're just so...bland. It's like when you ask your mom to get Cinnamon Toast Crunch from the store and she comes back with some generic Toasted Cinnamon Squares. I understand that those two character slots are obviously going to be less zany than Jack, they play the "straight man" to all his ridiculousness. But the actors they got have zero charisma. Not saying Bloom and Knightly are overflowing with it, but it's a big factor when you're replacing something we know well

Part of his mythos is that he has this amazing ability to come out on top of every deal he makes, bad idea or not. Every hairbrained scheme works. And all the while, he is inadvertently making other people's lives (or unlifes) existence much harder or less profitable. Most people that he crosses paths with, Pirates or otherwise, have valid reasons to hate him.

Agreed, Davy Jones stills looks good to this day.

To think this is something made 11 years ago is incredible. And the CG is way ahead from what i have seen in Pirates 5 so far.

I've heard before that CG comes across better when the subject is something that has the characteristic of being wet. I don't know if that's true or not, but Jones and his crew always look fantastic.

This one was pretty good, although I feel like it might have just been cooler to have Javier Bardem be a badass pirate hunter instead of having to come up with another reason for there to be another ghostly crew of undead sailors, guess that wouldn't be very fantastical though.

They really have nowhere to go but up after the last one imo.

Can we stop with this ?

The last one was SIX YEARS AGO.

And notice that there is virtually no alternative for cool adventure / pirates movies. So this is welcome.

Plus given Depp's age, he most likely will "die" or get cursed (written off) soon.

that being said he is ruined because of his divorce so he might try to grind that till it burns. :p

I would love a good pirate movie, but I have skipped every Pirates of the Caribbean film because they just look dumb. Critics seem to agree with me.

I've loved each of the movies in the series and definitely can't wait for this one as well. This trailer made me beyond hyped.

Saw this before leaving for the night.

What a good note to end the day on, I somehow missed that there were two prior trailers. My partner loves these films as much as I do, definitely a pair of cinema tickets again, we've seen the whole series on the big screen so far.

Looks great. Much better trailer than the last one they showed. Love all the Pirate movies. I'm sure I'll love this one too.

I don't think I can care about these movies anymore.

The first one was a shit ton of fun but since then each installment has felt less and less inspired.
