I'm a sucker for anything PotC though.. I think I was 22 or 23 when the first one came out and just blew me away. I wanted everything Pirates.. Got heavily into drinking rum (still am..).
Love the soundtracks as well.
Wasn't a huge fan of 4, but have been drunk enough the few times I saw it to still enjoy it.
Really excited for this one though!

Yup that stood out the most for me.
The first three movies look way better than this one.
Sadly, it can't. They've turned Jack from a mysterious rogue into a joke.
Him having connections to every villain is the problem. Barbossa was fine, but he needs to be someone who stumbles into shit rather than someone who started villains on the road to supervillainy.

According to my Facebook, the brother of a guy I went to high school with plays Young Jack Sparrow. They put him in make-up and then CGI'd him to look (more) like Depp. At least, that's what I'm getting from the context of the conversation going on there. I can post the (names redacted) conversation for anyone that wants it.

Two separate gaffers are connected to young Jack? How funny. But yeah let's hear some details!
He'll be there, but he's busy Davy-Jonesing it up, so probably not a huge presence.
It's nothing too exciting, but he just mentions that he looked great without the CGI, but for some reason Disney went and CGI'd him all up.

I still have to watch the 4th one, but man alive, nothing was better than that first film. That was magical, as soon as I saw this I knew I was in for a treat.

I started watching the 4th but never got past the first 20 minutes or so. I recently watched the first two again and the first is still the best of course.
I'll have to watch the 3rd again as I don't remember anything from it and will try to watch the 4th someday.

I absolutely love the first three films and agree with you: Zimmer did something special on DMC and AWE. The fourth one unfortunately disappointed me on every level, I hoped that they would just ignore it but apparently the Black Pearl ist still in the bottle at the beginning of DMTNT.

I enjoyed DMC far more than 1,
I saw it 3 or 4 times in the theater.
It was such a fun theater experience.

Figured no Pintel, dude has a nice recurring gig on Once Upon A Time as Grumpy.
Yes. He has some similar facial features to Depp, so not sure how much CG was required. Might have made it easier? Regardless, he is the body of CG Depp

Guess seeing the pure over the topness has reminded me that really we don't get much like it out there.
End of Lone Ranger nearly 4 years ago was the only thing close to satisfying it.

Forgot to reply to this earlier, but thanks for the info. The original DVDs had some fairly thorough behind the scenes type of stuff. Maybe we'll eventually see the extent of the alterations they did for young Jack there.

Huh, ive never heard anyone say that before. Gladiators is a completely different tone than PotC.
