I wasn't even sure if I should just pick up the wiiU version, but after the reviews I settled for the switch and even the limited edition game, although I hate that plastic crap. but the hype is real.

I'm so ready for this.

Amazon please ship my copy now. I need it when I get home from work. If they fail for some reason, I'm going to scour my town for a copy.

YEEAAHHH BOIIII

I'll pick up my copy tomorrow

You could remove the need for the mobile data warning by not making your thread out of multiple 2+mb images in the first place.

Yeah, reiterating this from the OT guidelines post:

You can be stylish, but avoid being bloated, in formatting or bandwidth usage.

Try to avoid so much text in images as well, since that means the text won't be searchable either through CTRL-F or through a forum or Google search.

The on-ramp of excitement has been unexpectedly short and steep for me; I went from being curious to upping my shipping to make sure the game arrives Friday. Still haven't seen too much of the game but the incredible praise and that late night trailer from the Switch event in January have me sold.

Just finished the tutorial area.
Seems to be running fine on the Wii U so far.
I'm enjoying it, but kind of iffy on the controls.

What does the Wolf Link Amiibo get you? I don't see it in OP.

This is the first 3D zelda that I've ever wanted to play. Can't wait for tonight. :D

I'm sure this will be a good game, but I really can't shake the feeling that they've ditched most of what I liked about Zelda. I don't really care about an open world. I always liked the linear progression of complex dungeon layouts and unique equipment. Everything I've heard about the way BotW approaches its dungeons/shrines is pretty disappointing, but I'm still looking forward to playing this all weekend.

Can't remember the last time I've been so hyped to play a new game.

If my copy doesn't arrive tomorrow I'm legit gonna cry ;__;

Finally! Don't have it yet, its in my city, ordered it from Best Buy's website. Crossing my fingers I get it by tonight.

Can't believe at all the perfect scores its been getting.

I think it might be the gifs that tip it over, Aeana ;)
Seriously though, my concern was getting the OP out in time - I will actually replace the images with compressed JPEGs when I get a chance

I can't see shit on this old computer of the OT but yeah, haven't bought a release day Zelda since Wind Waker. All the praise and certain snippets I've heard have me supah excited!!

Aw, I was hoping to have it beaten before the OT went up, like back with Skyward Sword lol. Tonight's the night though!

More importantly, how are we gonna handle spoilers in this thread? Not story spoilers, so much, but places / races / side quests etc? (Gonna repost the rest of this post from elsewhere...)

The problem is that what is an early game spoiler for some people will be a '30 hours in' spoiler for others. So if we don't have a system to deal with that, people will either click spoilers and be spoiled or won't click any and not help each other.

There are basically 9 regions in the game. If we were to preface a spoiler with the region, that might make it better. Because if you've explored a region you'll know it's probably safe to click. Only issue is that some region names spoil what race lives there. But otherwise it works. There is still a region I haven't visited after 30 hours of play - I'd know not to click those spoilers. If it's a Plateau region spoiler, most people will know that they're fine after an hour or two of play.

For example:

Necluda region spoilers:
How do I climb the tower? In the village where is the X? What does Y NPC do?
and so on and so forth.

What do you think? If we were to agree on this it could go in the OT or in one of the first posts.

Honestly, if I have any advice for people it's to go in blind and not look for any help with puzzles or anything else. Playing without a guide was so good... I had to leave a couple of areas and come back with fresh eyes, then figuring it out felt incredible. Had I had the OT I'm sure I would have crumbled and asked someone.

If you're gonna go ask 'Where's the master sword' you're gonna rob yourself of what makes the game great when you stumble upon it for yourself, for example.

Even with images being compressed, that still doesn't address the fact that all the text is in images.

Hey OP: Can we also dedicate the OT to Christina Grimmie?
She was a huge Zelda fan, and a finalist in The Voice. She was famous for YouTube covers of songs while being a sweet, kindhearted gamer who loved Zelda.

She was murdered while greeting a fan in a concert in Orlando, the day before the Pulse Shootings massacre, and mere days before the revelation of Breath of the Wild.

She was such a huge fan of Zelda and I'm sure she was so excited to see what the next one would be, and her young life was snatched hours before Nintendo's E3 presentation that following week.

There was a fan petition to Nintendo to include her as an NPC Easter egg.

Please consider mentioning her in the OP as well.

omg that is crushing....so sad..

Never played a Zelda game before, this is the first time it appealed to me. Depending on how E3 will go for nintendo, I will hopefully get a switch in the summer and experience my first Zelda game.
