I only hope that my copy isn't sent to a UPS or FedEx facility because I'm not home in time to receive it. I'm leaving work early tomorrow to make sure I'm home to accept it or pick it up from the leasing office of it gets dropped off there.

But I've been sick the past few days, so I might end up having to call out again.

My Goddess, GameStop is having a midnight launch. I'm not playing the game tomorrow...I'm playing the game TONIGHT!!!!! O____O

Cross posting from review thread

Before we embark on the journey that is Breath of the wild, let us all appreciate....

....What a great fucking game Skyward Sword is.

Ancient cistern

The dessert area

Time switch stones

Girahim

Demise

ANCIENT CISTERN

Pheeeeew

DAT ending, tear jerker.

DAT soundtrack, amazing.

Let the Zelda cycle come into effect. Let us join hands and love skyward sword.
Fuck yeah! Its my 3rd favorite Zelda besides TP and ALBW (and now BOTW will probably be #1) its an amazing game!

Thanks. From the WiiU settings, I can change the system language to Spanish, for example, as well as my country. I wonder if thats enough to change the VO...
Try it. I can't remember if each game only has the specific country you bought it and the Japanese VA though. File can't be possibly large enough to have every countries va

I will definitely try it and post results once the damn game is up on the eShop!! what the hell, Nintendo...

Also, changing country of residence requieres the use of a Nintendo Account with the same country configured. So, language change is fine but country is a no go.

My favorite story in the series.
My favorite characters in the series.
My favorite soundtrack in the series.
Some of the best dungeons in the series.
Some of the best dungeon music in the series.
Some of the best bosses in the series
Some of the best boss music in the series, if not the best

Yeah, I can put up with Fi and repetitive item descriptions for the above. Anytime, anywhere.

Come on Nintendo throw us WiiU users a bone, and let us predownload the game please.

Apparently not gonna happen. People in other regions have had to wait until 00:00 on March 3rd. I think its an incredibly short sighted move. Browsing the eShop is already sluggish...

I heavily suggest y'all sneak into Hyrule Castle pretty soon after getting past the Plateau. There's a collectable really worth getting before continuing, although a bit tricky to get. You don't need to go far into the castle at all even.
*Psst* It's in the Lock Up area. Go in the castle from the west, past the mine cart.

Trying to get to Ganon with 3 hearts is proving to be very difficult. Damn Guardians keep blasting me away lol

Love it. I plan to at least scout the castle as much as possible right away. Seems logical.

"Defeat Ganon."

"Kay here I go!"

*Game Over*

"Welp... Plan 2."

Edit: Ooooh even more incentive ^^

If only developers could do with franchises like Castlevania or Mega Man or a slew of others what Nintendo can still do with Mario and Zelda-- release a new installment today in this gaming landscape that still makes people shit their collective pants as if they're 8 years old again.

I'm not saying make Castlevania open world or whatever. Just do something with it that feels traditional, with the soul intact, yet with a share of bold ideas and superb execution. This is why I wish Nintendo could scoop up some of those properties. Justice would come swift.

The DLC is live, right?

Are there any images of the Switch shirt? I'm hoping it's just the symbol on a tunic that still looks cool in-game, instead of an actual dumb promotional T-shirt that says "Nintendo Switch" on it.

I have it, I'll upload it to Twitter and then put it here. Un moment

EDIT: Or not, I can't seem to connect to the image share service at the moment. Anyway, it's red. Has the Nintendo Switch logo on the front and "Nintendo" across Link's shoulders on the back.

I *think* so, though I haven't run into any of the DLC chests
(though there was one purple chest that said EX on it? i don't actually know how the DLC chests appear)

Just stepped in and wow, that OP is magnificent. Amazing work.

Been pecking away at Horizon but I can already feel this is gonna be the majority of my weekend. Ducking out until I can put some hours in, early impressions and reviews have me fiending enough as is.

Beautiful OT, particularly the last bit. Gabe's story is so heartbreaking--I'm glad it's not forgotten.

But to bring it back to lighter fare, I didn't realise just how epic BotW could be. Like, I haven't played it yet, but Dan Ryckert (from Giant Bomb) has been at it for 90+ hours... which is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay longer than I never thought the game could be; I've always clocked Zeldas at the 15-25 hour mark.

It's hard to believe the game is almost here now.

Picked this up for the WiiU during my lunch break. Will now have to wait until work is done and then an evening event before I can get home to play it.

What are the DLC Chests besides the shirt anywayz? Haven't heard. I hope they are more cosmetics since I want to wear so many different things lol.

Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword are both 50+ hour games.

My wife was working late tonight so I decided to do so as well. I'm picking up the system at Best Buy in a few hours, so I got home and opened the door to this:

Freaking awesome.

Yea, both TP and SS took me between 40-50 hours to complete each, and that was with only a handful of the optional stuff completed.

Holy god I got blown the fuck OUT by Ganon. Un-fucking-believable stuff. This game is incredible to the very end. I mean, incredible. I mean, jaw-on-the-floor stuff.

I thought I was prepared. I was not prepared.

The idea that you can speedrun straight to this guy is amazing to me.

'Koloktos was a good boss'. Oh god, how we'll laugh in the future.

Ugh. Do you think it looks good at all, or is it as immersion-breaking and stupid as I'm imagining it?

Though it speaks volumes that an optional DLC clothing item is one of my biggest pre-release complaints :P

My hype levels have gotten so absurdly high that they circled back around to my current state: feeling nothing. It's actually pretty glorious, as I still have 12 hours and 45 minutes until I will be picking this thing up. Too bad my emotional system wasn't able to fry out earlier in the week!

So is the game not going to be available on the Wii U eShop?

I realize now that I've never actually bought a digital game on Wii U at launch, do they ever come out the same day as retail?

Going to Ganon right from the start has another wrinkle beyond just being super difficult.

All of the _____blight Ganons are still alive since you never killed them in the Divine Beasts, so you have to fight all four of them in a row before fighting Calamity Ganon, no saving or checkpoints.

That's awesome, dude.

My wife and I had this conversation a few days ago:

Me: So the Switch and the new Zelda are coming out on Friday.
WifeMG: Oh yeah?
Me: So I was planning on getting all my stuff done by Thursday night...
WifeMG: So we can just settle in on the couch and play it together all weekend?
Me: Pretty much.
WifeMG: Sounds like a plan.

They are always the same day as retail, at least as far as I've seen. Usually at Midnight EST. Zelda was supposedly up earlier today on the Switch eShop, so I can't imagine that it wouldn't be available for WiiU.

Waiting for time to pass is getting nerve wracking.

I'm trying to watch Unbreakable right now to kill some until midnight. It's not working

Do you mean
the Hylian Shield?

Guys, please, how long until de DL is live in WiiU eshop NA? I wanna leave it downloading while I go to sleep.

It's listed already, just not available to preload/preorder. It sounds like other parts of the world got it when the clock ticked over to 3/3 at midnight. Hopefully the same happens here, but there was a rumor on Reddit (supposedly from Nintendo's customer service) that it wouldn't show up until 9AM tomorrow.

All this is speculation obviously, either way I'd assume their servers are going to get hard as soon as they do let it loose.

Just a little bit of advice for those just starting out in Breath of the Wild.

There are a lot of "things I wish I knew when I started BotW" articles out there. I strongly suggest ignoring them. Yes the game doesn't lead you by the hand as much as previous Zelda does, but that is for a reason. Just get out there and explore, take your time. The sense of discovery and peeling back the layers on the onion is truly wonderful. Don't deny yourself all those little "ah ha!" dopamine release moments. Nintendo know how to take you where they want you to go.

I just read one of the "things I wish I knew" articles and saw at least 5 things that made me say "NO! I loved discovering that myself".

In addition you have to fight Ganon at Full Health and he was clearly balanced around beating the Dungeons and having the Master Sword. He has an Obscene amount of health otherwise and in a boss that deadly in general, it might be one of the hardest challenges in a Nintendo game and one of the most insane bosses they've ever made.
