I wish you could set the resolution in docked mode down to 720p for a smoother experience...

I haven't tried it to see if this helps the frame rate, but you can manually set your Switch to 720p. It's worth a try if the frame rate is bothering you.

Okay, I found a campfire in a windy spot and I'm pretty sure that'll let me cook hyrule herbs instead of burning them. I am liking this turn of events.

Puzzle solving is so satisfying. The super long, intense dungeons were never really my thing so having them more spaced out is definitely my thing.

Hey guys, i'm not sure this was already answered, but I have a basic Wii U (8gb) and no HDD. Is it possible to play BotW with all the software installations, the day 1 patch and the mandatory installation?

I'm not in a position where I can buy a external HDD to play this so I don't want to waste money on the game and not being able to play it!

Thank you :)

I paid $10 for a USB stick. Runs fine from that.

Some of the later Shrines legit makes you stop and think about how to go about things. I'm only at Shrine no 16 and just knowing the fact that there's still dozens more left to explore makes my all giddy.

Also I can pretty much see what part of Shrine puzzles make use of HD rumble, and as a WiiU pleb it makes me jealous.

Yo every moment of this game so far is a delight. I just got off the plateau and had deliberately not zoomed out the map until I got the glider.

Jesus.

Are you not supposed to do (BEGINNING SPOILERS)
the trials immediately? I know it's your first big task, but holy fuck some of them are hard to get to. I got to all of them, it just took some ingenuity.

I wonder how many of the reviews giving it 10 even mentioned the FPS issues in docked mode? This games deserves a lot more than 900p and sub 30fps :/

You are. Think of it as the tutorial kind of.

Just so everyone is aware though...there are other things to see and do in the plateau.

How do I light up a camp fire?

I have
a fire stone and some scrap from the mechanical enemies. But can't figure out how to trigger a fire

Edit: forget it. 😄

Is there going to be a spoiler thread. I'm seriously considering getting the guide bc there is none online. I'm stuck on the Zora trial.

And to the person above. Just put some wood and flint in the ground and strike it with a sword.

Im pretty sure you need flint, wood, and a metal weapon to spark the fire. Not sure how though I have yet to try.

I found flint at the plateau in the forested area from
the rock boss

Just figured it out. Didn't think of hitting it with a weapon. Can I transform a campfire to a cooking station?

Just follow the hints in the diary and make the dish. Once you make it, talk to him.

I still couldn't work it out -
it needs raw meat, spicy peppers and a missing ingredient. I had an inventory of like 30 ingredients. There's no way I was going to try all of them.

What's the missing one? Seafood?

Got that coming in later tody. First play through is on my own. That is if this update ever finishes. Been on 1 min foe the last 30.

Yup. Look for some fish around there. Shoot them with your arrow and pick them up.

The name of the food is enough if a hint isnt it?

spicy steak and fish? Dunno how is called in english

Thanks - but what:

You don't need to make anything. Just climb to the highest point (the snowy mountain part of the Great Plateau)and he'll give it to you for free.

What!

The name of the food is enough if a hint isnt it?

Yes it is, just didn't piece together that
he wanted two types of meat AND spicy peppers which seems bizarre haha. I thought it would be one type of meat and two non-meat ingredients.

You know what they say about assumption...

I have 5 hours of meetings at work today..I'm gonna be thinking about Zeld the whole time, hopefully no one asks me anything.

The game came Wednesday for me and just what I've played there is enough stuff in the game that I want to do that prob warrants me getting the guide. Amazon is just backordered so I guess I'll try some stores. There have been a few shrines and obstacles i just had to quit bc they were too hard or I couldn't figure it out.

Plus if you cant find any steak you can use some bird meat, works justs as well and is healthiet according to the game

I feel your pain so I will tell you because I also searched for sometime: hyrule bass, a fish. It's strong yet simple recipe to learn wich is cool

I was confused too. Had to read the diary a bunch of times till it clicked lmao.

Since this is this first VA in a zelda game, even though link doesn't actually speak does he have the same voice as the other languages of the game?

Do newer prints of games come with the first few patches installed on the cartridge allready?

Lets say I delete all the downloads to make room for something else. I really want to have a hardcopy that when Nintendo's Switch Servers kick the dust, I would still be able to play it with no insane framerate dips.

A couple of questions from super early on

1. Can you end crafting new weapons / ammo? Or just collect?

2. Trying to get somewhere it got super cold and I lost health. Is this the game telling me come back later or am I just using old game logic and I should be finding a solution now?

3. This is is probably a spoiler but just on something basic
ive done a couple of shrines to get the magnet and the bombs. Obviously these are just starters but does the game have proper dungeons like previous zelda titles? Or are they all smaller?

Fuck there is this horse i want to tame and i sont know how to so it

Edit: teacupcopter for 2nd question. Solve it now. You have to find a way to survive in the cold area

1. yes

2.follow the game logic, you can use torch or any weapon with fire if you pay attention to your temperature meter, you can also cook pepper if you read the item description, you can also find a cold resistance armor

3.
Not quite like the old dungeons but it's really unique and awesome

1. Not sure - but yeah i think so. You can almost definitely craft
new clothes.

2. It's a core mechanic. You are supposed to enter and complete this area. My main advice is to try experimenting with how you can impact your heat meter. To ruin the surprise/discovery for you:
Try eating spicy food (brew it), set fire to wooden weapons and taking them with you, find warmer clothes (there's one way on the Great Plateau I think).

3. Shrines
are all mini-dungeons like that. They are the same sort of size/length throughout the world but get more and more difficult. There are loads of them.

Apparently there are 'traditional' dungeons, but I haven't got to any yet. I think they relate to the story. Should become clear as you progress. I think they're quite different to how previous Zelda games have had them.

The best way to see it is that the gameworld itself is now a large dungeon with little challenges and puzzles throughout it.

I feel your pain so I will tell you because I also searched for sometime: hyrule bass, a fish. It's strong yet simple recipe to learn wich is cool

Nice. Thanks. Might teleport back and nail that.
