Cooking tip for dealing with cold at the Plateau:
You can use multiple peppers to make the dish give longer cold immunity. 5 peppers give you like 12 minutes of immunity.

Do enemies and items respawn, by the way?

I also wish running didn't drain stamina so quickly. Running 100 feet should not take more stamina than climbing 100 feet up a cliff.

1.yes
2.get a horse when you can

This was actually one of my biggest gameplay complaints with the game, even though it's a minor one. Almost all the systems in the game are balanced so well, but this one felt off. No reason to be able to climb so far but barely be able to sprint more than a few metres. Means that getting anywhere in the game is a constant 'Hold B and release every second' thing.

Yeah it would be nice to get a patch to make running drain stamina a tiny bit slower.

My copy of zelda rattles when I shake it, is this normal?

I saw another video that said the cart rattles for some reason, wouldn't worry unless the game doesn't work though.

There is no quest trigger however
while exploring the plateu you find a small house with a diary, read it and you learn the owner is missing something and if he gets it he will give away the cold resistant clothes.

It never registered as a quest or anything in any menu.

You can also get it by
going to the highest peak of the plateau
which is how I got it.

It feels weird going from the pro controller to handheld mode, it's like you have to completely readjust to a whole new set of controls again.

Also that
shrine detector
you get from activating a second tower is annoying.
*beeep* YES I KNOW THERE'S A SHRINE NEARBY IM TRYING TO CLIMB TO IT *beeep* SHUT UP

(Yes I know it can be turned off)

It could be your most used rune later when you upgrade it ;)

I'm stuck at work thinking about the Switch and Zelda all day.. and then I get home where my package will be and we have a bunch of prior plans for the night 😭

I wonder what folks who are playing and liking this one that haven't really played much of the others would think about them. I see people saying "I love this game despite only having played Ocarina like 20 years ago" and things along those lines and I want to recommend them play previous titles, but I wonder if there's something about this one in particular that they enjoy that maybe they wouldn't find the same kind of enjoyment in past titles.

I know a major difference is that this game just lets you go right away allowing you to immediately engage in open world fuckery, there's no big story opening was menial tasks and so on. I know that turns some people off; it wasn't a big deal for me at least the first time through those games as it's new stuff happening but it is tiresome on replays. So I can see that. I just can't imagine starting with this game, playing through it, and not wanting to know more about the series and experiencing previous titles.

And not everyone will care about this obviously, but Skyward Sword for example, while it takes its time to get going, that time is actually spent on world and character establishment, and planting the seeds for many of the familiar elements and tropes present throughout the series. As a long time fan, Skyward was very fascinating for me as it explains a lot of things, answering questions I've had, and basically just setting up, quite literally, the entire series.

On a related note, I actually think it would be great if Nintendo would release Skyward Sword again on Switch, maybe cut down on some things, reduce the number of times Fi interrupts you, speed up or eliminate the repeated item descriptions, only have one bout with The Imprisoned, and obviously bump up the resolution/widescreen. They could market it something like... "Enjoy Breath of the Wild? See how it all started with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, a revision of the Wii original allowing for a more simplified and streamlined experience" or something of that sort.

I mean, Skyward HD needs to happen regardless, but still. I think this is something they should absolutely do. Even as a Skyward fan, even addressing those issues I mentioned would improve the game damn near ten-fold. Sorry, lots of thoughts and some rambling. I'm just waiting for my shit to come in the mail.

I never gave Skyward Sword a fair shot, only one in the series that I never really beat. I'd love to play through it again, especially with less Wii Motion Plus stuff if possible! (though that probably defeats the purpose of the game)

Is this the most interactive video-game world created so far?
The sense of journey in this game is amazing. Never felt like this before.
I felt safe and warm around a fire in the cold night. I was happy to meet a lone traveller in a forest.
I'm going back, I have a destination to reach.

Nope, the dock don't have extra power it's a device to play on tv+charge. I think we had thread explaining that and yes I shared the disapointement with others.

Oh okay! I too heard that the dock didn't have extra power but then there was a thread saying that docked it had like 800 Gflops or something like that. Thought people discovered something.

Owww the fps in docked mode when you get out of the cave right at the start and go down the slope with the grass..

MUCH worse than i expected.. constant 20fps :(

Handheld mode in the same area is smooth

It makes me wonder if i would stand playing docked... its THAT bad.

Strange thing is that the demo DF tried never lagged like this in this area.. they even analyzed the fps in the same sequence..

The motion controls did work very well, I just wonder what adjustments they could make to maybe allow for more people to enjoy it. I feel like it's a game that more people should have played and finished for the story and dungeons alone. The dungeons are tremendously good and the story again sets up the entire series in very awesome ways. It's the beginning of the series chronologically and just has this ominous atmosphere like you're really seeing Link and Zelda, the original Link and Zelda, literally before everything in the rest of the series happens. It starts off simple enough and with a carefree attitude, but then the cogs of fate if you will begin to turn and it gets more serious.

It's quite fascinating in some ways especially if you're a fan in general.

I was killed by three bokoblins... Man, they are good.

They are...and they don't care if they kill their 'allies' to kill you. A bogoblin grabed an 'explosive barrel' and just threw it at me even with his two allies around me...he basicly kill them and took two hearts of my life. Then while I was recovering, he grabbed a rock and threw it at me...killing me with that hit.

Just played 2 hours of the Wii U version and honestly, the frames weren't bad (except when exiting the shrine of resurrection). Rarely saw drops as bad as explained and when I did it wasn't enough for me to really care. Really enjoying it so far.

I have to ask about making the recipe for the old man (great plateau starting area thing). Only check if you have done the first shrines!

He already ghosted away, what was the reward for giving him the right food? Is it possible to still do it?

Docking the system should be able to increase the system's clock speeds by a factor of 2.5x when docked (according to Eurogamer's report a while back at least), which again in theory, should translate to a 1080p transition when docked (1080p is roughly 2.25x 720p in numbers of pixels). It's able to do this because undocked the system is severely underclocked to save battery life, and when docked you don't need to worry about that so it can run at the chip's normal clock speeds. The game running as it currently does at 900p with more frame drops than undocked suggests that either the game was unoptimized for docked mode, or Nintendo chose for whatever reason not to speed up the clocks in the system when running docked (or opted to run it in the new undocked performance mode that was mentioned very recently).

How do you activate the DLC stuff? Do you have to reach a certain point in the game, just like with amiibo? Sorry if it's been asked.

Edit: Searched the topic and found the solution. They're around shrines.

Thank you for explaining.

The chests should be next to 3 of the first 4 shrines. One at each except I think the
Stasis shrine.
They have a big EX on them.

This is unfortunate, really wish they would address this as the fps seems to be like one of the game's few problems.

I'm not a console power bandit, but I expected at least a solid 30fps throughout.

Haven't been following the thread but are there a lot of impressions of the performance of the WiiU version?

I sincerely hope it isn't as terrible as I'm thinking it will be, and waiting for the DF video is killing me.
