Just had a blast reaching the Gerudo Tower. I leave the plateau from the snowy side and reach a dry arid valley and cross makeshift wood bridges along the cliffs fighting bokoblins. Evenutally climb up to a higher ledge a find myself battling a Wizzrobe, continuing down the path I reach an African watering hole like location filled with lizalfos. I continue to climb the mountain and when I reach the next ledge and 3 angry moblins greet me and I run and advance up the path and finally reach the tower in which I must solve a brief environment puzzle to reach the tower. As I climb the tower the sun sets and I'm greeted with a gorgeous view on the valley and the desert.

This fucking game!!! This is how adventures are supposed to be done in games. Having so much fun right now.

Haven't been following the thread but are there a lot of impressions of the performance of the WiiU version?

I sincerely hope it isn't as terrible as I'm thinking it will be, and waiting for the DF video is killing me.

It got pretty bad on a small village. But on the open world its alright I guess

I don't understand what is supposed to be enjoyable about weapons breaking. Do I seriously have to keep getting new crap to use for 10 minutes before picking up more crap for the entire game? Can't I just have a sword that works?

After like 50 tries I finally solved the
marble maze
shrine. Fuck this. 😄

Hate that puzzle!...just ugh! But man the feeling of satisfaction when finish!

The easier way to do it was
Turn the entire thing around so is the bottom part that you are using that has no walls, then roll it down, I tried...but the motion control where a bit wonky for me and just did it the normal way

This is unfortunate, really wish they would address this as the fps seems to be like one of the game's few problems.

I'm not a console power bandit, but I expected at least a solid 30fps throughout.

Considering the DLC support through the end of the year, I expect free patches to atleast happen with each release. I can't imagine with the introduction of new elements into the game they won't have to do further optimizations.

I'm actually enjoying it, it forces me to adapt to new situations and use gear I might not ever use. It adds more of variety I find. I'm not usually keen on breakable weapons in games but new weapons appear so frequently I never really find myself having issues.

going through the maze was no problem for me but the last jump was always off so the ball off left of the actual ramp. The perspective of the puzzle surely didn't help. I didn't even bother getting the chest. Haha.

Really hope you're right. Just wish it were optimized right out of the gate; this is not a common topic among Nintendo games as they're usually ridiculously polished on a technical level.

It's all tied to the new basic survival theme.

But it's not like I'm ever running out of shitty weapons.

It's just not fun. Constantly going in the inventory, having to pick junk up and manage it, it's not what I want in Zelda at all. The open world is cool, but they've gone way too RPG with this.

What a game already. Just got off the plateau and now finding out how to get to the village without getting murdered at each step. What's the best way? Just charge?

Bought the game for Wii U last night and played for 5 hours until I get off the Great Plateu

My reaction after thos 5 hours?

Any comment on the performance?

You guys are all so lucky. My game doesn't get here till like 2 in the afternoon. Arghh.

My shipments will arrive at any point, could literally be any time. It's okay though, I've been taking this time to clean house and get the space ready for where my docking station will sit, like I do every time I get a new game console, it's like welcoming a baby into the home lmao

Yeah, it was the end part that got me too. Having to roll the ball and then make it 'jump' at the end was the tricky part...I did get the chest, but almost couldn't make it back after jumping into the maze xP

Is this fully playable without the Gamepad on Wii U? Would rather use my Pro Controller since they nixed all the cool gamepad stuff they showed years ago.

I'm playing the WiiU version and really the framerate seems fine. What actually happens is that whenever there is an alpha overdraw the game will drop frames before quickly recovering provided you don't shove the camera in the midst of grass etc. It could drop during rain as well. Basically so far it seems any framedrop that has happened has entirely been due to alpha.

I already bought the game (54 euros at mediamarkt intead of 65 yay!) and have to wait for the switch to come...
next week :(

The dad of a good friend was working on the canary islands this week, and there the console was 290 euros instead of 330, so nearly getting the zelda for free if I bought it in the mainland, he is coming back next week and thats when will be able to play.

Have fun everyone! I will be here in a corner playing divinity or something :(

At least for weapon...just throw them with the R (the crappy ones), you can use them as projectiles (is what I do with my bad weapons). Weapon management is easier cause of that, but I do hear you on doing that for shields and bows.

I have both wiiu and switch copies of the game now, switch console hasn't arrived.
Been playing the wiiu version for an hour. Temple of time framerates are as bad as the streams, sub 15 at times. I wonder what the villages will be like.

Maybe it's coming from horizon but does the colors of this game look...washed out? Or is that just the color scheme they used?

My Wii U copy is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday.

I was at the local electroncis store at lunch today just staring at a rack of 60+ Wii U copies of the game. I must have walked to the register with a copy in hand 4 times. But each time I put it back. I can wait a couple more days. Damn that was hard.

I am seriously thinking of getting it digitally tonight.

Guys sorry if this has been mentioned but im trying to avoid spoilers- how are the download speeds from Nintendo right now? Trying to decide between digital and running to the store for physical.

IQ is not as sharp as in the Switch and for some reason there are certain section of the Great Plateu in which the game chugs a bit (mostly the forest, the initial cave and The Temple of Time or when you swim and there is a bunch of fish or frogs) but it runs fine in the snowy field, near the cabin and performance is flawless in the Shrines that I explored.

BUT when you get off the Plateau then the games performance suddenly gets better (bizarre considering you want to give a better good impresion). Granted, I am still in the big open grassy fields but the game hasn't slowed down even when fighting a group of 3 enemies near trees and while raining.

Still haven't reached any big settlement or the jungle they showed during the Game Awards
to see how bad it cant get but so far is excellent and more than playable if you don't mind the occasional chug and the not so hot IQ.
