Worst fucking timing. It's like the whole world tuned against me.
I went to university this morning and after that I picked up the game in a local store ( Wii u Versions that is ) come home and install the game using my gamepad, since i wanted to cook while it was downloading the update.
Eat something get back to my room.
No image. Change input. Still no image.
Change HDMI cables. Still no image.
Changed from my monitor to my TV. Still no image.
I think the HDMI output of the Wii u Is broken.
At Zelda launch. I can play the game on the gamepad but what a disappointment. There I was getting ready to dive into the game and then this.
I still have warranty, but then again there is this game I want to play.
Sorry to be ranting a bit but damn. The little I played got me really exited. Still so bitter about that broken HDMI output :(((((((.

Yes.
The vast majority of clothes are in shops, and then certain other stuff is in difficult shrines. You won't find clothes just wandering the wild outside of that set in the Great Plateau. At least, I haven't in 40 hours.

I was able to find Links green tunic and some new trousers as well right at the starting area basically. there's a house behind that temple of resurrection that has the tunic but I'm not sure if all the chests are randomly generated or not either.

These are good to know, one more question when you get a horse and board it, and when you take it out and leave it, is it like in that same spot, or do i have to find another horse, or will it automatically go back to the horse stable if you go far enough?

I just got out of the Plateau. For now the only drawback is the frame drops. The poor Switch can't hold all the beauty of the forests. I don't blame it, I can't myself! Hoping for a patch.

Besides that I'm loving it. This franchise really needed this.

Got some conflicting answers but on the Wii U version do you have to play on the gamepad or is the pro controller fine?

Hi guys, I have a question: The day one update on the Wii U version of BotW downloads automatically or do I have to manually download it from the eShop? I ask this because I'm perma banned from the eshop due to stupid me buying Splatoon digitally from a random scalper on Ebay who swear the codes were not downloaded illegally but he did and because of that I got perma banned from the eShop... I haven't bothered on fix it with Nintendo support because I don't mind not having access to the eShop anymore since there's no games that interest me there so this is why I ask. If I have to download the update from the eShop then I'm screwed so I'm hoping it downloads automatically that's why I ask this. Thanks!

Edit: I should add that previous updates on games such as Mario Kart 8, Smash and Splatoon download just fine, it seems that as long as I don't have to manually download something from the eShop, then I'm fine.

After you register it, if you take it somewhere and leave it at a spot it will stay there. Only way to "teleport" it is to find a new stable and take out again your horse.

Sorry Lasli but already chose the cute Paya. On a mission to find the birthmark

Can you buy somewhere cold protection gear? And im currently at 5 hearts and struggle with harder enemies and the machine things.

You can get some on the Great Plateau, and then buy a full set that's much more powerful much later on, I won't say where.

I predict that the single most common question in this thread will be 'Where do I find XYZ resist gear?' One type in particular had me hunting for it for 15 hours, it was actually really frustrating. I was really wishing there was someone I could ask by that point!

That said, if you just ask in the thread right away and make a beeline for that spot, you'll really trivialize what this game is all about. Knowing where everything is, you could probably beat the entire game in 8 hours or so. The idea is that you go and find it, just like the original Zelda, which is also trivial if you know where to bomb to get all the extra upgrades/rupees from the start.

In the early game, though, the idea is that you cook your way around the obstacles, so get used to cooking.

You can buy them from some people and some chests have them too. But they are a bit rare and very useful too.

Hmm. So would you say that the game is more focused on melee than bow and arrow then? Because you always have melee weapons, but often don't have arrows.

I dunno, they come in handy a lot - hunting, getting those arrow dudes on watch towers, getting those big barrel explosions. You'll get more, don't worry. Make sure to go around looking for any that you or enemies missed (they're not always available though - some show, some don't).

I don't waste them if I can use a different weapon to get the job done unless I'm super scared of getting up close.

Yes, bows are situational usage items, because arrows are important. You can't play as a pure archer unless you are rich as fuck in this game, which you won't be.

When you desperately need an arrow to cut a rope or something and don't have one you will curse yourself so always try to keep a couple in reserve.

For me there is still a treasure chest next to the map shrine symbol and Im sure i got everything.

Did you place a stamp yourself?

Guys I've spent six hours playing this, I can't remember the last time I was so utterly enthralled by a videogame

Gonna have dinner and jump back in, I don't know if Nintendo realise they may have just ruined games forever? Holy crap.

i have a wii u copy i need to sell. bought it, opened it, then my friend hooked me up with a Switch!

send me a PM if you're interested. i'll cut you a deal.

Don't worry, Red Dead Redemption 2 later in the year will re-ignite that fire ;)

I'm supposed to complete 4 shrines but the only other one i can see is at the top of a mountain where it's too cold for me to get there. 😯

Been playing the switch version I'm not a graphics snob or anything but I think I'd rather have AA+720p VS 900p and it looking so jaggy.

So Amazon screwed up and won't deliver the game until tomorrow, except our office is closed tomorrow so I won't have it until Monday. Can I buy the game at walmart and then return the amazon copy?

Go back on the tower and scope the landscape to find other shriines XD
And like other said, find pepper, cook it and eat it, the dish will warm you.

Cold potion for anyone stuck:

3 peppers, 2x health mushrooms.
Will give you around 8min.

You can put in less too which gives you 5min and around 3min respectively

There's a shrine on the East side of the plateau, where a stationary guardian resides. That's probably the nearest one from the tower. It's almost invisible because of the walls covering it.

The Wii U version is only compatible with the Gamepad and Pro Controller, right? I just want to make sure I'm not missing a way to play with the Wii Remote + Nunchuk.

I need some one to compile a cookbook on here and spoiler tag it by regions. I feel like I'm going to spend 20 hours on the Great Platuea alone

I have the special edition but I'm considering not opening it and buying a digital version. Are there any improvements to load times or frame rate if you go digital?
