Where or how do I get fish? I'm on the plateau and
the old man will give me a cold resistant tunic if I make him a meal. I have 2 ingredients, feel like the third is supposed to be a fish.

Jump into the water and when you're next to a fish press A

Few thoughts on the Wii U version:

-It's everything I hoped for

-The Wii U's old CPU struggles a tad. This seems like it'd be a CPU-heavy game with the amazing physics engine they've created.

-Nice to be able to easily keep track of how long the game will be for me with the Wii U activity log.

omg i literally need anything made out of wood to do this blue flame quest. nothing. i can't find anything made out of wood in this whole damn town.

Alright, I got a dumb question. How the hell do I get back to the Switch menu screen when I'm in Zelda? I seriously can't find a way out of the game lol.

The climbing mechanic is so much fun, I'm just trying to get to the top of everything and it's amazing that so far I have.

The voice acting is terrible in English. I'd pay extra to be able to switch just the dub to any other language just so I wouldn't know how bad it is.

Most people will want characters that speak to them in a language they understand. That's the reason why there are several other European dubs as well.

You're demanding something without knowing if there's very many that feel the way you do and just want to hear it in Japanese. For non-niche games, companies don't know whether that vocal minority that want to hear something in a language they don't understand are enough that they should make sure in their contracts they can use it in other versions and make DLC (which takes time and money) of that language that 99.9 percent of consumers in the other territory don't understand.

That and the voice acting is fine. Sure
Impa
sounds a bit young, but whatever.

I have. It doesn't do anything.

Defective joycon? Oh dear...

At first I was considering going all hearts, but damn, my stamina game is weak.
Yeah I realized this a little later than I should have. Stamina is not to be overlooked unlike a stupid red potion - who would take that over a hear container??

So I jumped off the plateau planning to go explore the southern parts of Hyrule first. Got a bit side-tracked exploring and finding new things, and I'm now just after activating the Central Hyrule tower.

I love this so much, Also activating that tower was so stressful!

These are just early impressions of course, but I kind of wish survival wasn't such a huge facet of this game (resource gathering, eating, stamina meter, camp fires, resistance, weapon durability, etc). Puzzles were the things I was expecting to end up disliking but I actually like them, but the survival stuff. Man. It's too in-depth for my taste. I wanted to get off some tall snowy mountain without having to fast travel, and it took like five tries to get back to green land (either I would die from cold before finishing paragliding down, or my stamina meter for the paragliding would empty and I would die).

The flying fuck these stone mini-bosses have the fucking biggest range attack ever! I was like 1 mile away and that dude threw a stone right into my face😡

I just wanted to point out how crazy it is that the last console Zelda game before BotW came out 7 years ago. 7 years ago! Is that the longest wait for a mainline console Zelda game yet?

Not sure how I feel about all these enemies who can one-shot kill you even with a full meter. I've died like Dark Souls amounts of times.

So I (possible mount spoilers)
rode a bear. It was cool but they wouldn't let me register Yogi. Something about it not being a horse or some other racist bullshit.

Is there anyway to disable the Wii U pad flashing that stupid notification?

It's quite distracting

Nintendo always with the hidden costs.

Just to be clear there is no way to turn off subtitles for voice over right? I would search but spoiler tags don't appear in that view.

As for the game I'm liking it so far. Just got into a combat encounter that knocked me senseless in the first shrine I found outside of the plateau. Not used to that in a Zelda game and the fact that is this shrine is described as a "minor" combat encounter is very promising for things going forward.

Shield surfing is awesome, just killed a pesky goat doing it.
Pressing attack while going down a hill does an attack though it can break the shield.

It's not so bad if you set the brightness to minimum (press home once and go to the controller settings in the top right). Can't turn it off I think as it says pressing a button on it will resume it.
