Maybe I'll use stamps for this going forward.
I've been doing that so far. If there's a treasure or something similar that I can't or don't know how to get yet, I'll just throw a chest stamp down there. Or a boss stamp for a tough enemy I'll go back to later.

I'm so glad that feature is in there.

Shrines are really good, got stuck at one for 15 mins. The chests have good stuff too. Got a climbing bandana out of a less obvious one.

So since I'm pretty sure I won't be getting the switch until the Holidays, is the consensus about the Wii U version that it's not worth it and I should wait? Bummer hearing about the major performance issues :/
I can't figure out the flurry attack thing. How do I activate it properly, it seems random.
Pretty sure the prompt appears as a "dodge at the last second" mechanic.

basically dodge at the last moment, if timed correctly you can flurry strike

not gonna lie tho.. the dodging in this game sucks... link doesn't dash far enough IMO

Does the game track/tally deaths or give you anything for a low/no-death run?
Just some simple spoiler-free "yes" or "no" answers, please.

Gotten about an hour in of goofing around the plateau with my brother after midnight release yesterday. Fun so far, but I'm super excited to finally dig in tonight.

It really depends how fps drops affect your gaming. For me, it's a non-issue. It happens, yes. And it can be distracting at times but overall it's something I quickly forget about when it goes away. It doesn't impede my enjoyment of the game whatsoever.

No on the first part. And I'm glad. I'm probably 50+ right now, lol.

Haha, for a while this game had me thinking I had gotten a faulty Switch. The gyro control kept getting interrupted when aiming the bow, but apparently every time you touch the right stick the gyro controls just cut out, and my thumb just kept slightly touching the right stick when I have my thumb on the buttons. It's save to say I'm not a fan of how close the right stick is from the buttons.

The game has been pretty novel so far. Didn't find the Great Plateau to be that interesting, but now I'm off it I'm having a nice time.

The game is awesome so far but man that aliasing is painful. The game looks great in handheld mode but I, annoyed that Nintendo didn't scale up the HUD. The text is too tiny. I hope they scale it up in a patch and make sure they do it for all other ga,es going forward. Kinda kills the versatility to me otherwise.

I can't wait until this game starts to work on CEMU. Would even have the added advantage of using PS4/XBone controller on top of cleaner visuals and smoother framerate.

This game is just intimidatingly massive. I've done maybe 6-7 shrines and have traversed so much ground and skipped so many cool looking places in lieu of other cool looking places. Then I zoom out on the map and realize I've done literally nothing.

Really fun all the same though.

Just got that one too, love the new bandana.

This game! First dungeon done and it's still in an exceptional teir of games that are so rare. I just ran around and did some resource gathering and marking some spots on the map to explore in the morning. I've been playing since 9am and it's now past midnight so... sleep time now.

I booted up the game and I couldn't pull myself from it, only quit for a while to eat. I played in one go til
Kakariko Village
and that's where I decided to call it a night. I thought I wouldn't be able to get the reward for finding
the old man's recipe, but luckily the warm shirt was in a chest in his cabin. Feels like the first really useful item.

I'm going to be pulled to the shrines since
spirit orbs are basically heart pieces now.

This game is pretty crazy: it's like they changed everything that needed changing in the Zelda franchise. Doing optional stuff feels more rewarding since there's a bunch of equipment now, and health/stamina upgrades is something you'll be actively looking for since the enemies do more damage now.

Can someone explain what I can do with amber and topaz? Or is it better if I find that out on my own. Have about 5 each now but I don't want to mess a recipe up.

Nintendo spoiled us rotten with:

Splatoon
Mario 3D World
DKC Tropical Freeze
Pikmin 3
Mario Kart 8
Yoshi Wooly World
Xenoblade Chronicles

... Those are BEAUTIFUL games that run at rock solid FPS. They've trained us to expect that. The dips are disappointing, but all of those games mentioned above are still great games if they had similar issues to BOTW.

Just wanted to chime in, I'm playing the Wii U version on a 65" 4K Vizio P series and after messing around with some picture settings on the TV the game looks really good. The frame rate certainly struggles at certain moments but overall is fairly solid and not nearly as bad as I was expecting.

Oh and yes this game is freaking amazing.

Is anyone else still waiting for Amazon to deliver the Wii U version of this game? My order says "arriving by 8PM today" but it hasn't even reached "shipped" status yet (thus no tracking #) and it's 7:22 PM here...

Can someone answer if the original Zelda theme is anywhere in this game? Getting a bit worried.

I canceled my preorder because they changed my arrival date from the 3rd to the 7th at the last minute. Went to GameStop at midnight and picked up my wiiU copy. Amazon dropped the ball on this one.

Did you update with the joycons attached, I dont know if I would have ever had the problem but I did it with the joycons attached and its been perfect for me, I even put the joycons behind my back and they still worked like a charm

You're playing on the Wii U, right? If so, that's good to hear - I did manage to play DS3 in my fairly middle-of-the-road laptop so I probably have a higher resistance than most people, just worried about some impressions.

That must be Monoliths' fault. They screwed up the font size Xenoblade X so bad...

It's been so long since I've used my Wii U that I didn't even have our not-even-new wireless set up on it. LOL Getting used to A as confirm again is weird too. Also didn't have enough free space, so I had to play the "what do I delete?" game first. And now an update. Modern gaming, man. It's all good, but it sure would've been nice to be playing already. :) So can't wait to start!

Spent a good 45 min looking for the area of my first side quest. So relieved I finally found it lol. Now to find more shrines 😑

Game suffers from FFXV syndrome in terms of its music. Some really great tunes, but you rarely hear them, instead you hear short repeating loops that make you want to mute the game.

Same as normal weapons but while holding ZR. Left on the dpad lets you select the arrows. Also while holding ZR

I find that pretty wonky btw, you're switching bows/arrows while you're already aiming. Controls take some getting used to, but that's the weirdest bit.
