So regarding the BotW amiibos that gives you equipment, can you get them again via the amiibos after they break (guessing these stuff are breakable that is)?

Sorry if I'm repeating an often asked question, but I wasn't really sure what to search for.

What is the consensus with regards to best image quality? Portable mode or plugged into the TV?

Thanks.

Just started playing it, and I see some apples on the very first tree, I was like, hmm can I cut the freaking tree without climbing it to get the apples, fuck yeah I can lol awesome :D

Just beat
Hinox
with only four hearts and the starting clothes. Feels awesome, I love how you can go anywhere and challenge anything in this game

How do you cut trees? I've been playing for a couple of hours but haven't seen any bladed weapons. Just encountered
Stone Talus
. About shit myself when it popped up. Wasn't expecting that so early.

Do you have to unlock cooking? Every fire I've come across only allows me to sit. I want some baked apples damnit.

Game is hard. I've died over 20 times so far and health items seem few and far between after you leave the area near the Shrine of Resurrection.

First 15 minute spoilers

Theres an axe near the old mans campfire when you first meet him. Just head down the path and you should see it.

In my 4 hours so far, literally saw maybe 10 seconds of frame drops in the great plateu. People really like to blow shit out out of proportion VB for no fucking reason lmao.

I'm glad it's not bothering you, but that just means you don't have a good eye for it.

I ran into a similar amount of slowdown in handheld mode - but docked, it dropped into the 20s at least 15-20 times in ~2 hours in the plateau. The game straight-up stuggles to maintain 30fps in docked mode. It's not even a matter of "catching" a slowdown, it's just how it runs.

I'm LOVING the game - it's a blast. But it's hard to completely overlook such a technical flaw, especially since it's not even 1080p.

Nope, there are some campsites that have a bowl over a fire. You can cook multiple ingredients together at at those.

OMG

I am 4 hours in (still at the Great Plateau)
just got the warm shirt
and this game is spectacular. Yes, I did notice some frame drops, especially in the forest of spirits, but those haven't bothered me one bit. EVERYTHING ELSE IS JUST SO INCREDIBLE

The setting and the atmosphere are some of the best I have seen. I can't decide what is more jaw dropping, Hyrule at night or at misty breaking dawn with a bit of wind <3

Nope. Go to the menu, select the food items and it will give you a chance to add 5 things. Then drop them next to a pot and voila.

Played a couple hours on Switch thus far.

Game is definitely tough. Have been killed by Bokobins a couple times and several times from falling off things. Would have died more if I hadn't seen the E3 demo and known to run from certain things.

Some of it is just getting used to the controls and the Joycons. It's getting better but I'd probably still prefer a pro controller.

Framerate dropped a couple times for a few seconds but then went back to 30 fps-ish. Definitely not a major problem.

I do hope they let you swap sprint to the L-analog stick and crouch in the future when a patch comes out.

You must be playing in portable mode, because I was consistently noticing bursts of drops in the great plateau that lasted more than a split second.

I am almost never bothered by this stuff in most games and it doesn't bother me with this one, but I thought similarly to you before playing-- it's definitely a clear and consistent, however frequent/infrequent, issue.

Enemies with elemental damage seems really overpowered, or I might just be under-equipped.
Path up to Zora's Domain, and the lizard dudes that shoot lightning arrows one shot me, even with the lightning resist potion I got at the start[/i]. Also has lots of trouble with those flying elemental dudes, especially fire ones which create never ending meteor showers

Also framerate is...bad. I think I might try to switch to handheld mode, because the
trip up to Zora's Domain had parts where I could swear the framerate became single digit.

Has anyone been walking around in a forest and seen something strange...

Don't want to spoil it but if you've seen it, you'll know what I'm talking about.

I guess I completely missed the
warm clothes
on the great plateau. How do I get them? Can I get them after I've left?

Nope, it was docked. The parts where I noticed drops where during the very first bokovlin encounter and in the forest with lots of grass. I have finished the first 4 shrines and haven't noticed anything major. Pretty pleased in fact.

well if a game makes you play 3 hours straight without realizing it it must be doing something good.
passed a good chunk trying recipes..then decided to stop following the game indications and fust went hunting for shrines and other stuff... the AI is not really that great, and exploiting it made me get some sweet loot ,definitely better than the usual i was getting.

Likewise. Really the only time I saw it was in the Forest of Spirits, and I have also been playing for 4 hours.

Wii U version here.
Kakariko
and
Korok Forest
are Blighttown levels of framedrops. It's playable but you know....

Without telling me how, can someone give me a yes/no on whether it's possible to repair weapons? I hate losing my good ones, they all break so fast. :(

I guess it could feel that way, but as you complete Shrines you get orbs and subsequently exchange them for more hearts or stamina. Exploration is rewarded with more powerful weapons and better armor, also, as you find rarer ingredients, you get better buff for potions and elixirs. I haven't played it myself but after seeing how everyone stars at the Plateau and then how powerful the later weapons are, it clearly shows a grow, not in Link himself, but in the attributes and equipment he had.

Thanks I found the shirt, I thought at first they just dropped like Amiibo rewards drop

I somehow missed the warm shirt, and ended up buying one

Is there a trick to getting into the shrine next to the ranch that has spikes around it?

For anyone having issues dealing with the cold...

Just light a torch and bring it with you. You won't be able to run, but as long as the torch is lit you won't be effected by the cold.

This was a massive revelation for me when I figured this out.
I wondered if setting a fire with a fire arrow would give me brief respite, then I lot a torch to go at the ice chuchus and realized I wasn't taking damage.

Should be a ridge just behind it and you can be paraglide in.

God damn do I hate weapon management

Weapon durability is such a stupid mechanic and it's actually turning me off the game

If you pick a enemy's weapon, you will equip it directly,

Actually I don't understand it, don't rush through the game, take your time

I dunno, but I thought of just climbing that mountain then base jumping off it into the shrine, but I ran out of stamina potions then went off to adventure somewhere slightly nearer the plot

How do I know whether to sell an item or keep it for crafting? So stressful

Okay, I finally found something I don't like about this game: riding horses. Good lord they control like shit.

Weren't they supposed to control better the more tame the horse gets or something?

Whatever. The horse controls suck. Like TP HD

Holy shit, I just found and beat a
Hinox
for the first time. That was so amazing, especially later in the fight when he started
covering his right eye.
And the fact that you could
steal weapons off him
was crazy. It felt like a Dark Souls boss and it was just in the open world. The music was awesome too, and then it just goes right back to the gentle night theme

So, in the Great Plateau at the Old Man's hut, does anyone know how to get
his warm sweater? I swear I have tried every food combo I can think of but he is so unimpressed by everything lol

I think it works well with the rest of the mechanics... IF you could keep weapons forever, you would always use the same ones, thus making half of the loot useless.

Read the diary again, the title of the dish should help you

for what I understand it's deliberate, if you tame a wild horse at the beginning it will not always listen to you, the 'pet' command it's to reward it when it does what you say... Although I still have to understand precisely when you should or should not pet it.

Game is great fun so far. Shrines have interesting puzzles that serve as disguised tutorials in a way. Spend a good 15-20 minutes cooking when I found the first fired cooking bowl lol

thats why this game is great. Because my first thought at that first tree was..."i wonder if i can climb it"

and we were both right :)
