So, in the Great Plateau at the Old Man's hut, does anyone know how to get
his warm sweater? I swear I have tried every food combo I can think of but he is so unimpressed by everything lol
if you talk to him in the woods sometimes he will drop a hint on the third ingredient

I'd you don't wanna lose time anymore, the recipe is
meat (the steak, not the chicken)
peppers
fish (you can find it in a pond near the tower)

Can I go back and do this after I've already left the plateau?

I threw my hylian herbs into a campfire and they burnt to a crisp, thinking that's how they want me to cook it. I didnt realize I'd have to light the fire under a pot and they're totally separate. Sigh.

Cooking is a lot of fun and I like trying random combinations. Dubious food with the censor is just hilarious.

I like the horse riding controls in this. It took some getting used to (didn't help that my first horse took ages to tame) but I think I've got the hang of it now.

Speaking of horses, the framerate around the Dueling Peaks Stable is horrible. The other stable I went to was fine, but it's so bad here it's actually difficult to control Link.

Playing the Wii U version. Visually more impressive in person than all the video footage I've cobbled through the last few days.

Hitches occasionally for sure though, especially near tall grass or when the physics engine is dealing with quite a bit. Though in the few hours of play so far, those moments represent a very small fraction of game time. Lacking AA(or lesser) is also noticeable as jaggies/shimmer is present. Otherwise it is just stunning, especially in certain lighting conditions.

No regret cancelling the Switch purchase and going this route as of yet.

Oh and the default control scheme is killing me. Really did need the ability to swap buttons around.

played at least 2 hours straight. Where does the time even go. I am just getting lost in the world....in the most wonderful way. There is just something that catches my eye at every turn

my only complaints so far: The jump and run buttons not being next to each other.....and im having a tough time quick swapping Bows & Arrows. There has got to be a better way than almost shooting an arrow and having to cancel

Wow this game is truly something else. Just finished about 8 hours straight of play time, truly an amazing experience and it's only the start. So far I've only made it to
Gerudo Village and the fishing village
, but everything in between has been awesome. The writing is fantastic and full of charm, I especially liked the
three Gorons who challenge you to withstand the heat.

Yeah on Wii U there's some framerate dips here and there and I feel like the initial time would have been less frustrating if Link had started with five hearts rather than three, so at least not everything could shot you, but those minor critiques aside, this game feels like a revelatory experience that I already wish I could go back in time and start again completely blind.

doubt it.
also you either pick the cold clothes or you have to stuff your mouth with anti-Cold food and deal with the timers, since 2 out of 3 shrines are at high altitude and link will freeze if you don't have protection

Yeah I made pepper fruits. lol

3 hours in and already been dying a few times. The times in the river was dumb but man these enemies can kill you so fast.

I do hope control button mapping is patched in for the game. So annoying that ZL is shield while ZR is Bow and Arrow. Makes it so awkward to press Y and shield only to get runes.

Just activated the tower on the great plateau. That was pretty cool. I like how there was no explanation. I had no idea what would happen till it happened.

This is really neat.

Man, that boss in one of the
divine beasts
is kicking my ass. I always run out of weapons and food. I have 5 hearts.

Water Gannon

Remember when we worried about not having any towns in the game? yeah well this game has the best towns in the whole series.

So far i've seen two, but they are so full of life with so much attention to details and many interesting NPC's.

I beat it with 3 hearts. I had to learn how to dodge at the last second to get free hits.

then i spammed arrows for its second phase

Just finished the first four shrines its bloody great. Playing on the wiiu I really like this game so far also fucking lol at the king he sounds like will Ferrell.

I just got introduced to
the old man on the plateau
, but it feels like I missed something. He just glided on up to me after I activated the tower. I remember in the E3 demo he showed up right at the start of the game. Was this changed?

I know how, just running out of weapons. Next time I try I'm going to have a wide selection of weapons, arrows and food. Should be able to then.

First thing that blew my mind in the villages (for a Zelda), no loading entering or exiting buildings.

Is anyone else getting weird graphical glitches? I just started and a bunch of weird shit is happening like Link's hair jumping a few feet away from his head and flickering textures all over the place. Should also probably specify this is the physical Switch version I'm playing.

Okay, so after being unable to find a solution to the issue, I figured something must be wrong with my cartridge and bought the digital version. Didn't work. Game is freaking out just as much as before. Can someone explain to me what the fuck is going on? Did I just get a defective Switch? Fast RMX was working just fine, so I figured that couldn't be the problem, but I'm not an expert on these things.

I am really impressed by the sound direction of this game. Birds are singing, bugs are humming, the sound of footsteps changes. It's like I am really travelling in Hyrule. I haven't been so immersed in a game.

So wasn't this game supposed to support the HD Rumble thing? I don't think I've felt anything other than the most hilariously weak '90s cellphone buzz in all the time I've been playing.

Austin Walker stated that this game felt very 'analog' and until I played it I didn't really understand exaclty what he meant. I got on a raft today and started swinging a Kokori leaf to get it to move but it stayed still. I realized it was tied to a dock, so I swung my sword to cut the rope and free it. It's a small touch but most games would give you a button prompt to do something like this, and little things like this all over the world that allow Link to interact with them in a way that makes sense instead of obfuscating the task behind a contextual prompt is really magical.

it just hit me, there is not a single loading screen besides after you die? the whole world, towns, houses etc. no loading.

What an incredible achievement.

should I be selling materials I get from mining those mineral deposits? Or should I be hanging on to them, what are they used for?

Edit - just read above. So rubys/sapphires etc are okay to sell?

i was hearing this weird noise....then realized it was my axe clanging against the shield i just picked up...whenever i walked

In and out of Shrines. The load times on Wii U are actually somewhat long so I try not to die :P
