So ive way past the platuea but one of the shrines that gives you the power to move metallic objects has a chest thats way high up on the wall, I kinda figured its something you'd have to come back and get but im thinking maybe there really was a way to get it, did anybody get it?

Use your new toy.

Just got to the first story villiage , Any way to up my item and weapon storage?

I love how open ended the game is.

No spoilers but after the
Old Man reveals hes the king of hyrule is there anything else in the story that puts the game in specific part of the Zelda timeline.

The rules of the game are kinda weird.

Weapons break very rapidly yet right near the beginning I get infinite bombs which I can throw a decent distance, explode them for large damage in a big radius...forever. Why get in melee range and risk being hit and use a weapon that might break when I can use infinite AOE ranged damage.

Its weird. I know later enemies probably defend against them but its so effective against early area enemies, I dont bother using weapons.

Also game doesnt tell me how to cook. I have hot peppers but dont know how to use them.

Its a strange game, which isnt necessarily a bad thing.

Quick question, I remember people taking about voice acting. Is it just me or is it strictly text like other Zelda games? I didn't download the day 1 update, so maybe it's included with that?

Lol link is kind of a dick to the old man. Old man greets him nicely and gives tips and says serious things at times and link is just like what are you doing.

Yeah. I tried so many combos before realizing the solution is the most obvious one.

grab the chest with the magnet

The old man teaches you how to cook during your initial 4 shrine quest.

Just stand in front of a cooking pot, lighting the fire underneath if necessary, and enter the menu, selecting "hold" on whatever you want to cook. Works with up to 5 items.

The game does tell you how to cook, the old man on the plateau will have a little dialog about that but it depend of when and where you talk to him :)
Anyway, to cook > find a fire with pot > menu > select ingrediant > hold > go out of menu > press A too cook

At the first stable,
you should see a big green korok that will be your npc to expand inventory

They weren't lying whe you can do whatever you want the moment Link wakes up. Spent the first 30 minutes shirtless looting bobolin's treasures, finding korok, catching fish, tracking boar, getting fire arrows, and triggering a sub boss. Didnt even bother going straight to the old man until an hour in. Freaking amazing start.

eh, a single bomb doesn't even kill a bokoblin, and theres also the cooldown timer, not really an effective weapon. Works great for initiating a fight against multiple enemies though.

Love the atmosphere of Kakariko Village, cozy and eerie. Spent 20 minutes getting a better handle on cooking, holy shit you can
crit
. Game is pretty stunning.

Dont the infinite bombs you get right at the start of the game seem overpowered since they never run out and do large area of effect damage at range without wasting weapon durability? Are they weak at fighting enemies beyond the initial area?

This game. I thought I knew what to expect after reading the reviews, but I knew nothing. Holy shit guys. I can't stop playing. At all.

I know we wouldn't let it slide that's why I'm so shocked about it. The guide clearly states "unlocked by coresponding amiibo" under the availability tab. :(
Can't get a better source than the official guide now can I?

There is chance we made a topic on Gaf about the amiibos but it was like 2 weeks agos or 3 so it sank, lol. Try Google, I know some scans were going around.

Is it possible to get all of the towers as soon as you get the glider? Some of the towers seem to have some strong enemies.
Yes, a friend did it and yes of course you will take you lot of patience, sneaking and dodging :D

What? Voice acting is literally the first thing you hear in this game. It's mostly used in cutscenes though, dialogue with npc are text based as before

I dont know, I wouldnt want to fight 2 or 3 skeletons plus bats at the start with regular weapons, but using bombs blew them away and the skeletons went into the water and killed them.

I had fun anyway.

You learn how to cook pretty early on from the old man.

If you just want to use bombs at first, go for it. That's what's so great about the game. You can take on everything in so many different ways. Sometimes I just feel like using the magnet on a big metal crate and push guys around and drop crates on them.

Also, you're killing all these guys and they're dropping all their weapons. No point in holding on to basic weapons that you can just replace right then and there.

Oh godammit...i thought maybe you had to maneuver the metal thing somehow to slant up against the wall ahd grab is that way :S

That is pretty strange. If I remember correctly the amiibo descriptions say they unlock random amounts of items, from food to clothing, once per day... I wonder if these things are just randomly generated upon scanning the amiibo/ past a certain point in the game?

I hope not, but I have been avoiding almost everything to do with this game, so I don't know.

Its funny cause right after I got the bombs, it was night time and i was getting ambushed by stal children and stationary guardians. The long cool down in bombs made it unreliable to defeat the aggressive stal children while the area of effect forced me to move into guardian sight.

So no bombs aren't OP and you learn this really quickly.

That journey to the first village sure was something. I experienced an amazing lightning storm that was just randomly annihilating everything to go along with some crazy good and hilarious at times cat & mouse combat.

Love, love, love this game thus far.

Ah I didnt speak to him, prior game I spoke to him and his annoying grunts pissed me off but he appears anyway when you get to the shrine. hopefully other NPC;s dont just grunt at you.

so you need a pot, I thought it was weird I couldnt cook at fires. so I can make food with the peppers to get tthose cold protecting foods then to go to the snow area towers

Those guys seemed terrifying lol I just ran away. Yeah definitely wouldnt try bombs, they woulkd probably laugh at them

The GAF discussion was about the weapon unlocks that can be earned in game at a later stage.
The guide mentions amiibo exclusive stuff that has nothing to do with the announced items and these don't appear to be unlockable by any other means. To me this is a huge turn off.

basically any green tunic besides the BotW edition is locked behind amiibo use. As is the fierce deity outfit and four exclusive swords

So my game froze when I tried registering a horse. It froze when it asked me to name it. The music kept going but I couldn't do anything. Holding home brought up the sleep and power options but couldn't do anything. I was playing docked mode.

Yep. Pots are just there at a bunch of fires and campsites. You should probably talk to him, he appears all over while you explore-- not just at the shrines. It's basically the game's tutorial, from cooking to hunting and so forth.

Edit: you can technically cook without a pot present, but it is limited to single items that you drop on the fire. I tried it with an apple, and assume other items will work, though some Will burn up without the pot. Works in a pinch, I guess.

Three hours in and just chasing a horse has been the highlight of my playthrough so far

found a cool black horse that I wanted, so I chased it around for like 10 minutes until I found a blue one with white spots and a blond mane

I figured with that one I might try luring it over to me with a trail of apples that I set on the ground

it fucking worked

and then I tried standing there, ten feet away from the horse who now loves apples, holding five apples in my arms, for the horse, to see if it would trust me a bit, walk up to me, and eat them right out of my hands.

it fucking worked
... and I didn't even need to tame the horse after that. I convinced the horse to my side with the power of friendship.

loving this shit so far

I watched a video and it didnt seem like the weapons they unlocked were overpowered eg
damage 16 weapons which given I have level 10 damage weapons rightt at the start of the game seem like they arent OP or as good as late game weapons

I really like BOTW's approach to character progression being more tied to health/stamina upgrades and equipment rather than levels. I usually dislike how in most open world RPGs I tend to overlevel simply by wanting to explore my surroundings, fight strong enemies and do a bunch of side-quests. FF XV was one of the most egregious recent examples, where I was massively overleveled by the time I decided to get on with the story and just trivialized the whole thing.

In BOTW I feel comfortable exploring, fighting and completing side-quests at my own pace without fear of breaking the game's balance. The durability system is probably one of the major factors since you can't hoard powerful weapons at all times, so you just kind of naturally rotate between weaker and stronger weapons depending on the enemy you're facing. It's a much more elegant solution than level scaling or other similar approaches imo.

I've been playing this for a few days now and I had no idea you could do this.

Fuckk

Its a good thing this game auto-saves fairly decently enough, as soon as you entered the stables it should have saved so you should be good
